All i know is when oil prices tumbled to very low , he immediately raised the duty of petrol and diesel and look now we have the most expensive petrol and diesel prices in the region if not the world.

After 20 years of figuring out, I understood. And the reason I concluded is not a flattery of the singaporean majority voters who gave the absolute power away and caused the extremely slow progress to sg democracy. Long story short, I will just say HOPELESS mentality. In a word, Pragmatism. In 2 words , Loose sands. In 6 words, Self Interest is the only Altruism. I do not understand the sentiment that the opposition will perform better than the current PAP. Its VERY DANGEROUS to vote in a new generation of leaders who may not have the tempered steel in them. Once the soul of Singapore, namely integrity and accountability, is lost, Singapore is a 100% goner. Making tough calls that will ensure long term benefit instead of short term gain is what separates a great leader from a normal leader.
In fact, SG won’t even be what it is today if it wasn’t for a one party system in its early 4 decades. Democracy is just a crap system since ultimately MPs only want votes and make ridiculous promises. Just look at all of SG democratic neighbours. Do SG want to end up like them or worse?

Voting for TS is voting to keep the same corrupt system which brought about SI, KS, and VB. Voting for a non-PAP affiliated candidate ensures real change. Do Singaporeans want to look forward to a brighter future or keep suffering with the status quo?

He wants to be president to prevent non pap people to be president and ask tough qns to the govt. Halimah no longer has the "race" protection this time and is certain to lose. Putting a strong candidate such as Tharman will ensure another pap president for the next few years or decade.
