  • Learn how to easily key frame animate a low poly character in Blender 2.9x. This is the last in a series of three videos. In the first video we model the character. In the second video, we create an armature and rig this character. In this video, we keyframe animate an idle and a couple of run cycles.

    I've been modeling in Blender since about 2015 but more recently in the past couple of years. I've been making games and assets in Unity since 2011 and I'm currently working on a multiplayer RTS game that I'll be happy to announce later this year.
    I use a Canon Lumix GH5 camera to record my videos with the Olympus 17mm F1.2 lens as well as the Laowa F2.0 7.5mm compact dreamer lens. Sometimes I also use a GoPro Hero 8, a Insta360 One X and a Sony rx100 mark vii. For audio I use a Rode NTG shotgun microphone connected to a RME Fireface UFX II sound card.
    Thanks a lot for watching and sharing my videos :)

      The 10 minute rigging tutorial that he did was really difficult to follow, and I ended up with a rig that didn't work.

    Hey Imphenzia! I know you have tutorials that show how to different aspects of game making, but it would be really helpful to go on with this exact model. Put him in Unity, show people how to make:
    1. Idle
    2. Walking
    3. Running
    etc. with textures, controls etc. A complete workflow tutorial like this would go nuts, I promise!
    Cheers mate!

    You don't have to box select all the keyframes on that frame. Just selecting the keyframe in the red summary row at the top, selects everything below it automatically.

So thank you very, very much for this video. The simplistic/cartoony look is enough for me, I was really getting tired of looking at boxes only.

    As someone who wants to get into game dev and/or animation, your videos are incredible. Just in case anyone is confused at 3:00 when he clicks on that lower bar that normally is not there for auto keying, that bar is a horizontal screen split and set to timeline. It’s just dragged to the bottom of the screen.

    • @eagleman8882
      @eagleman8882 3 роки тому

      Where do you find it to drag it to the bottom?

    • @CozmiGames
      @CozmiGames 10 місяців тому

      This was SO frustrating for me. I originally had the bar at the bottom with the playback controls (buttons for recording, skip forward, etc) but in messing around it disappeared. Then I could ONLY find that playback controls bar again by changing the "editor type dropdown" to "timeline" but then the "action editor" was gone. I spent a huge amount of time on Google, UA-cam and just messing with things and could never get that playback bar on the bottom again in the Action Editor like in the video. However using the comment by @wesdl8593 above, I changed to the timeline, made it a split screen, moved down to the bottom, switched back to Action Editor and NOW I finally have the playback controls on a bottom "bar" so to speak. But its actually a timeline window just squeezed down to the bottom. I can't believe nobody else in the whole world seems to have this issue. Ok 2 hours later and now I can resume with the tutorial video. What a nightmare!!

    I love this series. I've come a long way due to this tutorial, but something I'm having a lot of trouble with is dealing with animations with other objects. For example, I have a character who has some tools but they only appear for some animations and not others. Dealing with that in the action editor / NLA panel has been really messy probably because I'm doing it wrong. Would love to see some content on that!

    Great stuff again - one thing I'd like to have known about which wasn't eluded to was the differing animation frame lengths across the different pose animations. For example the Idle was 40 and the run was 22 - but there didn't seem to be a specific set count for each... so if i went back and viewed the Idle, it was still set to the 22 (run) frame count length.
