I think I prefer the Millennium Falcon - it’s just a little more iconic both as a Star Wars ship and as an UCS set. You also get some interior space and way more minifigs. The big pluses for the Star Destroyer are that it comes with a proper stand and it seems to be way more stabile than the Millennium Falcon. I think it’s a lot easier to carry around. But they are both beautiful sets and probably belong into any collector‘s shelves... if you have the money and shelfspace, that is...
@@y0Milan Well, let's face it, they are all iconic... Falcon, Star Destroyer, TIE Fighter... I think only the X-Wing has a real chance of beating them in the category "most iconic starship from Star Wars".
I don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet, but piece count is irrelevant. The Millennium Falcon has so many smaller pieces to show off detail, while the Star Destroyer has huge large plates to give it that famous triangle look. I have both the 10179 and the 75192 Falcons and the 75252 and when I was putting the Star Destroyer together clearly just one of the large triangle plates could easily make up 30 small pieces, maybe more. I loved building all three and display them along side my other Lego builds in my office.
I have both in box, unbuilt. The millennium falcon weighs 29.1 LBS, and the Star Destroyer weighs 27.8 LBS. Thats not including any outer box, just the nice black UCS box and everything in it. The star destroyer weighs 95.5% of the Falcon weight. Which would translate to a price of $859.99 CAD (95.5% of the $899 Falcon price CAD... but it sells for $849.99. Slightly better deal than the Falcon.
I have the UCS Millennium Falcon from 2017 and I’m definitely going to pick up the Star Destroyer. Both are amazing sets, but I think I slightly prefer the Falcon
I got both the UCS MF & UCS ISD devastator during the double the points promotion through the Lego CA website. the tax on this 2 purchases can actually buy me a Tentative 4 set... I live in Toronto btw... I totally agree with all the fans about the minifigs.. Lego really missed out on this one since an ISD should always come with a DarthVader and a bunch of stormtroopers.. love your video review!!
The isd is more of an awe factor i think. Its obviously lego, but its all one color so it relies on incredible detailing to look good. The falcon looks like a model. An untrained eye isnt going to be able to tell at first glance (for either actually). The falcon has more features (interior, drop down cannons, etc.) Its all to scale to a minifigure which makes it more useful as a play piece. It as very good display potential as well. The isd is purely for display. Both are excellent sets. i feel i like the falcon more as you are getting more pieces and more build value, as its not 92% technic. Plus, i prefer the falcon as a ship anyway, but if i could afford both i would do it. Gonna get the falcon in the next few months as well!
The star destroyer is larger in every demension. I think that justifies its price. Piece count doesn't matter when Legos very In size. The isd has alot more large panel pieces. Also the isd weighs almost as much as the falcon. These are the two heaviest sets in weight. So technically the two largest lego sets. Because piece count doesn't mean much when it's 1x1 bricks like on the world map. The isd is heavier even than the colleseum despite fewer pieces. So that justifies the price to me. It's only about 1.5lbs lighter than the falcon.
Bricksie, I have an important question. I am a fan of both sets but I like the Imperial star destroyer a little more. If I were to buy one now, and one more 3 years later, do you think the star destroyer would be retired? Or should I just buy the star destroyer first and the millennium falcon later.
I tried adding an interior to mine: I had technic scissor lifts to expose the interior and still be able to replace the ship's exterior to normal, but it got incredibly heavy and I couldn't move it, so I had to remove the interior and rebuild it. It was a sad day for me :( But I'm also looking forward to someone who has more space to do it!
12:17: It is actually 7 legs: 4 in the back, 3 in the front. And when you put is on those legs, it need no more space than the ISD. So that's not an argument with the stand. If you don't have enough room for the MF so that you need a custum stand, then you haven't the room for the ISD on its own stand either.
The reason the falcon has more detail is because it is a different scale. If it was to scale with the star destroyer it was be way less detailed. I think the star destroyer is awesome and if space and money permit I will buy a couple star destroyers. They will look great next to the super star destroyer. I am waiting for a re-release of darth vaders ship and maybe a UCS Tie bomber. Then they can move onto something they havent done yet. Falcon must be getting close to retirement?

@@nonclooja4529 yeah but in the rest of Europe you're overpaying. The UCS MF costs 800 in the US, in Europe it SHOULD theoretically cost 700 Euros, like how Britain has adjusted the price for the currency. The UCS ISD should cost about 630 Euros and about 550 GBP so it's kind of a scam

One problem I'm already noticing with the Star Destroyer is that the back, bottom panels are already starting to split and droop where they meet up with the bottom of the engines. The weight of them bends the interior bottom strut that they're attached to. They have you attach that small ball joint connection on the back to keep them from completely falling but it has too much slack. I noticed your back panels are already splitting. I ended up hot gluing the panels to the interior engine support struts to take the weight off that main bottom piece that bends. I made a video explaining all this.
outsider238 it’s actually not that, it’s bending not because of the weight but of the engine details, the panel on the back of the engines are slightly too large which force the panels to move down slightly Edit: after watching your video, it’s just the frame of the ship that causes it to bend initially, it’s not that noticeable and part of it’s design. No way in heck it’s going to drop like the original though due to the technic core. I also think you over reacted and resorted to hot glue while you didn’t even finish building it or actually wait over time to see if it’s actually droop like you claim. Also all the weight isn’t on that one technic beam as you claim as the panels are also connected to the side trenches of the ship which have their own support structure
@@kq1534 Finishing it wouldn't matter because that part is already built and finished before you complete the entire model. Hot glue can easily be peeled off if necessary without damaging the pieces. That bottom support piece hangs off past the point where it's connected to the main frame without a support at the end of it. The bottom panels are connected near that free hanging end and since there isn't another support for the end of that bottom strut, those panels pull down on it. There's 3 pieces of plastic that make up that bottom strut but it's only the middle piece that's bearing the load of those panels. That's why they added that ball socket piece at the end of the panels. But there's too much slack and once that strut piece continues to bend, the split between the panels will get wider and also pull away from the bottom of the engines. The engine support assembly isn't pushing down on the plates, gravity is. Like I mentioned, it's a possible droop problem that may occur over time but it won't be as bad as the 2002 set's issue.
outsider238 idk man, I have the model too and when I push the bottom panel, it moves the entire model up so if it’s bending due to gravity, that wouldn’t be happening I don’t think Edit: there’s also a lot of pressure pushing it slightly downwards which Is why I think the actual other LEGO pieces are causing it to bend slightly. If it were just gravity, all you need is more force to overcome it but as you push more and more, so does the panel which isn’t something that happens if it’s just gravity you know? Also, the front bottom panels are attached relatively the same way and aren’t that much lighter yet the don’t bend like the back panels
@@kq1534 That same bottom strut has better support on the front where it's connected to the main frame and doesn't have a section free hanging like the back does so that's why the front pieces won't drop down. I'm really curious about that black piece with the loop on top that connects the ball joint pieces that try to hold the bottom panels together near the back. It looks like it was intended to have something attached to it from above to keep the bottom panels from splitting apart but for some reason it was never utilized.

The only reason why I prefer the millennium falcon is because the imperial star destroyer has about 2800 less pieces the the MF but is the exact same price, both at £650. I think the star destroyer should be about £400-£450
Josh Palmer Yes, but the ISD is made up of many much larger pieces which obviously cost more to produce, the actual weight of the sets and the amount of “plastic” you actually get is about the same.
The Millennium Falcon as it has more pieces and minifigures and cause I own it but the Star Destroyer is bigger and has probably better outer interior than the falcon.
because of the side by side size, i'd rather go for the falcon, it kinda upsets me the Star Destroyer is small when compared to the falcon (speaking Lore-Wise) it should've been a bit bigger.. even though it already is "big" as it is, though there could've been some interior, yet there's not much.. big Disappointment tbh.. Hopefully, BrickVault does something with that..
They use colours on the inside so when your building it you can see what pieces go where and it isn’t one big grey sheet and hard to find where pieces go
Angel Mcfadden You mean the one gap along the middle that isn’t even huge? You mean the interior colors that actually aren’t visible with the only visible color being gray? You mean the “definite no buy” that everyone is raving about as an amazing UCS set? Ok then.
You really have to search for coloured parts visible from the outside and you will finally find them when you know where they are. However, for most of them you need a torch as they normally lie in shadows under normal lighting. And many of the gaps are easily to be minimised if you build thoroughly. Then the colours may be visible from 10 cm distance, but not from farther away.
R u mad? Sorry but the millenium falcon also has noticeable gaps too, but that isnt a deciding factor for 99.9% of people. Also if u r scared of gaps than you should throw away your legos and invest in some hasbro toys. Lego isnt meant for you 🤧

The falcon looks better, I would get that
Lol, you know the sets are good when the manuals look like a couple of textbooks.
That’s so cool
The Millennium Falcon as it has more pieces and minifigures and cause I own it but the Star Destroyer is bigger and has probably better outer interior than the falcon.
I'm buying the M.F tomorrow, and maybe December time, then the S.D!
The Millennium Falcon looks much better and has much more details.
Is that a pax shel on its side? 😂
because of the side by side size, i'd rather go for the falcon, it kinda upsets me the Star Destroyer is small when compared to the falcon (speaking Lore-Wise) it should've been a bit bigger.. even though it already is "big" as it is, though there could've been some interior, yet there's not much.. big Disappointment tbh..
Hopefully, BrickVault does something with that..
Good review
4:42. LEGO COMPAGNY.... COME ON. THOSE COLORS. LOST YOUR MIND ? ⚠️
They use colours on the inside so when your building it you can see what pieces go where and it isn’t one big grey sheet and hard to find where pieces go
Star Destroyer
the star destroyer is way more detailed in the movies, this could have been made much better in lego
The Star Destroyer is awful.Huge gaps with the interior colours visible.Definite no buy!
