She was also in the Let's Play it Live series for a few segments. But yes I think it's great to have some more diversity in the office with both her and Wendy as well as Tom's kids providing a different perspective. Chris and Mike also offer a different focus in gaming that was lacking, and Roy's tastes are somewhat similar to Sam's to help make that sort of gameplay still represented.
While I’d be over the moon about a reworking with better components and perhaps a shift in aesthetics (we’ve seen attempts to rework art go wrong (i.e. Colosseum), this is still my #1 game (the expansion is great too) and love getting this to the table as much as I can. The card mechanism paved the way for other great games like Wingspan. And Pearl Games is reprinting this (and the apparently hard to find expansion) soon … an Instagram post from the publisher had it slated for Dec 2021 but I haven’t heard if that’s still on track.
This is one of the hidden gems in my own collection, and I was thrilled to see it just dropped as on Board Game Arena as a new game just this week. Can't wait to really dig into it again.
I'm with Zee, it's a 10/10 for me and in my top 20 all-time list. Watching this makes me want to play again, lol. Great discussions all-around from the group. I have zero problems with the look of the game/box art/components. I feel bad for gamers who won't try/don't like games that play well but don't have a perfect matching theme/art, because they can miss out on a lot of great games.
Bust out the DEVS!!! My kids and I joking call this game DEVS because of the weird shape U lol. It’s a totally underrated game that we love and I blinged out a little bit.
I want to get my hands on this for a while, but it was hard to find (at least in Europe). Good news is that it is getting a reprint :) It should be in shops in December!
Biggest disappointment of this year is not enough Catchupalooza! Mainly because I’m curious how much playing other people’s favorites will affect the top 100 or at least give people more discussion points during the top 100.
Great game. Only issue is sometimes the card draw can be frustrating when your engine is ready to go but you can't get the card colour you need to trigger it. I believe there is a variant in the book to cover this scenario though. The tiles are odd though. I don't hate them but it does feel like a case of trying too hard on the part of the artists/developer. They just look different for the sake of it rather than an inspired artistic choice.
Great series! Camilla is great, too. She's got such great points and is so natural in front of the camera! I would love to see newcomers introduced next time. Tell us where she came from, why she's playing Deus with the crew, does she work for the DT or does she have her own content? Thanks!
Honestly, those components have two easy-to-fix issues: Tone down the brightness of the colors and make the shapes less modern. Nothing about this says "Ancient Greece". 7 Wonders managed to evoke this era - twice! - so I can't understand why this one missed the mark so badly.
The tiles don't bother me. What bothers me is that 1) the cards have no interesting names/theme, just "brickyard" or "school" or whatever, 2) several cards have the same name BUT do different (similar, but not completely the same) things, and 3) at least in the first edition, the resources are just ugly discs. 10/10 game though. Would absolutely Kickstart a deluxe edition with Dutrait art :)
what a great series. Thank you DT
Deus and the expansion are THANKFULLY getting a reprint soon
My favourite series. Not seen Camilla before but she was excellent also, hope to see her back as a regular in the DT lineup 🙂
Camilla!
@@Poiuytrew.Q well spotted thanks and edited 👍

Just to add this is on Board Game Arena for anyone wanting to try it out.

Underappreciated game! Only thing missing is a solo mode.
An underrated masterpiece. It should've been nominated for the Kenner Spiel des Jahres instead of just recommended.

Love that game!!! Too sad i have not played it in years :(
Great series. Love it.

I’m with Zee on the look. I really like the way it looks.

Oh nice, love me some Deus. Such a good game ! Also this is a great series, more please ! :)
The artwork was improved since the first edition, although it still might not be to your tastes.
Agree ! In my Top10 too !
5 points to Mike for using "cognitive dissonance" and "synergy" in the same bit of dialog.
The artwork inside the tiles looks like old windows 95 HHHOrrible 3D graphics, THATS the biggest problem with the look.
Extremely underrated game.

She's the most recent hire here at the Dice Tower. She'll be in more live plays too, like tomorrow's, so you'll be seeing her around more!
Love me some Deus
OK, now I expect the four of you to use your extensive influence to get this game reprinted ASAP!
Zee, it surprises me that you are vanilla on Nidavelir… it seems like your kind of game?

This game and its expansion are gonna be reprinted by end of year 😃😃
Great game

Best game ever
