@@gatorchomp9607 she's the newest addition to the Dice Tower, helping with behind the scenes stuff, but you can also see her in a couple of recent playthroughs and reviews.
Love these! A more informal talk about a game, more stream of thought, which is just as valid as a review. Not everyone plays a game 10 times, those initial impressions are worth a lot as well.
Hey, I really appreciate that you are calling more the girls to the group reviews and lists. Women are a considerable part of the boardgame community nowadays, and they will probably relate much more to the Dice Tower now!
6:10 'I need fuel!' was said in the same intonation as 'I need more cowbell'. Just pointing that out. And I would LOVE a post apocalyptic game where more cowbell is a necessity in surviving. Just pointing that out as well.
2:08 ha, wasn't expecting Polish version on DT :) I was super excited to play this, bought second hand with gorgeous 3D printed and painted trucks and Aurora, but so far only played once on 2 persons and we felt a bit dissappoined. It looked like there is no way to catch Aurora and having better caravan there was no pressure to catch it anyway. We think of some home rule that would give some good reward for catching the ship so it better fits thematic (well, you would like to be rescued) and the game itself (so it feels more like a race).
Fighting the bandits in this game looked a bit like Galaxy Trucker... Bandits damage your ship...err caravan. They attack in order and the people in back don't necessarily get the opportunity to contribute.
I like this game, but the battles feel tricky like there needs to be a better cheat-sheet for them. I feel like we always have to go back and read the whole rule book just for those before each play. Otherwise, it's fun. But you need to keep pushing forward. At least one person always gets to the ship when we play, but the first time we got caught up wanting to upgrade our caravans too much.
You bring up a valid point. It just doesn’t feel as arbitrary in Dwellings as it does here. Whether it’s true or not, I feel more agency in DoE than I did here. To be fair, I’ve played Dwellings a lot, and this only once, so perhaps that feeling would change with more plays.
@@michaeldilisio557 Honestly playing a game once and having bad luck can make you dislike that experience, but from there to saying that you don't like the game at all feels like a stretch, especially when you have an audience of several thousands listening. Also, the combat is a minor part of the game, and not nearly 50% like Tom said.
@@TheDisengaged To be clear, this is a Catchupalooza, NOT a review. I was never trying to give in-depth analysis based on multiple plays. This was MY experience. I didn’t enjoy the experience overall, and tried my best to explain why. Others had different experiences, and they also did their best to explain why.
@@michaeldilisio557 My bad, that’s certainly true and I think you did a good job at making that clear at the end of this video. I think my main disappointment was the negativity that came through in the live play. On the other hand I had a very similar experience with Troyes this weekend and I really wonder if I will ever get back to it.
Different shows have different goals. This isn’t a review, it’s a discussion about a game that some people have played and some people haven’t. It’s meant to be more of a discussion, so if it’s like a podcast, that’s not a bad thing necessarily.
I don't know about these Catchupalooza videos, it's like something is missing from them. Maybe took out the game entirely and bit go through some part of it like in review (some Catchupaloozas have some of this, but maybe add more?). Now it feels bit forced discussion and in this case almost like Zee trying to hold into his liking of the game by defending it. Maybe if we could see the live gameplay first it would make more sense? Or those who have played, tell first how they saw the game first and how it has changed over time? Almost like these videos probably would give more things to people who have already played the game (oh yeah I agree with that etc.) rather than those that haven't played it so for me (for me!!) these almost feel like incomplete videos.
I can feel if I will like it considering which are the points that are not unanimous. But yeah, they are more clear fo rwho that already played, when they should be targeted to the people who didnt.
Wow couldn't disagree more. I love the freeflowing back and forth, feels a lot more organic than the formal reviews. It really forces people to defend their opinions and provides a clearer picture of what each of them likes and doesn't like in games. Please don't stop!
Totally agree... I want to see the game play otherwise the “conversation” has no context for me... and turns what is supposed to be exciting (Cosmic encounters catchupalooza) into just a discussion about the game!
I think maybe they feel incomplete to you because the videos are- basically additions to other videos. Similar to say a video where someone compares two editions or an upgrade of the same game. Note that the description has links to both the review and live play
Tom- Zee has played the game, everyone else has not. Pretty sure everyone else applies to the rest of the planet. This really fell under the radar and going quite cheap in allot of places now.
Just wanna say I really appreciate Camilla being on the team. She's great!
Who is she?

@@antonieschwartz Could use some introduction video or something if they are adding a person who is going to be on screen.
@@Crs9072 was there an introduction video for Roy and Mike??? I can’t remember.
Mike just shuffled I'm from outside and nobody noticed for a while 😂
I disagree with Tom that 90 mins is a "fast" game. 30-45mins is a fast game, 60-90 is normal length and 2+ hours is a long game

Really dig this game, super happy to see this played by this crew!

Yes, please do these recap videos for these catch up games.

Did Chris edit this?
Can someone please tell me what happen if you have to place a damage token in a slot that has item in it?
Mike is clearly an Euro gamer. It's probably why his taste is closest to mine (apart from Chris's) 😄

Mike, who loves Eldervale , doesn't like combat that you prepare for and someone can come in with 1 vs 3 and still come out on top?
