    Bad hair day, cat dancing off camera, free form video with an intro for the ages... And then one of the nicest minis I've seen in a long time. Pure, uncut awesomeness, loved it!

    My cat - Commando, because he slinks around and then disappears, only to bring back a nice fat mouse later, cries at 4.30pm every day. Howls like his tail has been cut off. He gets a cuddle and some food and all is OK with the world again. Cat's live in the now. Painting is like that. Meditation. No thinking about tomorrow or yesterday. Just the now.

    Once again my Saturday morning started out right. I was able to watch a video and watch the host talk and paint a mini. I watch on Saturdays only because during the week, I have people walking in and out of the studio and making odd comments about all the stuff I watch or the info I use for my afternoon shifts. Looks like I need to paint a mini. I have tow cats, but they are not allowed in my hobby room. Cats and hobby materials rarely work well together. Your friend is going to love that mini. My wife likes to make comments about her "Salt and Pepper hair". She does what she can to find grey in my blonde hair only to get upset that her 57 year old husband does not have as much grey as she does. Keep up the good work on your minis and I hope your movie is moving along well. I do love to watch people do something and get more out of it. Keep going and don't stop.

    Looks great fella, I think sometimes we forget its supposed to be fun ! I've been doing this nonsense for a long time and often end up painting 25 of this model or 30 of that trooper which soon turn the process into a chore. I now have a little pile of pre primed test minis to use as side projects (or palette cleansers if you will) just so I can cut loose a little. You should be rightly proud of your mini as it looks very cool, and even more important, you enjoyed the process, and its done !

    • @tabletopalchemy

    yew wood is good for bows strictly because the sap wood is very elastic and the heartwood is great in compression. The combined traits make a good bow that, when properly made, will bend well without breaking. It has nothing to do with moisture.

    Nice work pal. Did you varnish the mini once finished? And, if so, what did you use?

    • @tabletopalchemy
      @tabletopalchemy  7 днів тому +1

      I typically do, I brushed on AK Ultra matte, it’s my new favorite (brushes on well and sprays well too).

    • @theDexMcHenry
      @theDexMcHenry 7 днів тому

      @@tabletopalchemy Thanks. I shall have to check the AK varnish out. I've been using Army Painter matt, which has worked fine. I have a friend that swears by Windsor and Newton matt but I'd need to remortgage the house to feed that habit!

    • @tabletopalchemy
      @tabletopalchemy  7 днів тому +1

      @theDexMcHenry lol yes! Army painter matte is great, but needed an airbrush-able acrylic and my buddy and I tried a bunch out and the Ak ultra matte actually dries dead flat whether sprayed or brushed so it’s my new go-to.

  • @frog8220
    @frog8220 7 днів тому

    The paint is nice but fuck AK though. As long as there are other, better paints sold by companies that don't do political BS again and again, I'll buy those.

    • @tabletopalchemy
      @tabletopalchemy  7 днів тому

      Oh, huh, I am not aware of AK’s political stuff, I just tried out a couple one day and liked the formula (and particularly the bottle cap design lol). Vallejo is my other go-to, the newest line.

    • @frog8220
      @frog8220 7 днів тому

      @@tabletopalchemy AK makes decent paints alright, they also make “instructions for how to build your gas chamber diorama” and market it as edgy. I’d not mind them making instructions for historical dioramas but I do mind them portraying atrocities as something edgy and marketing towards it. “During the Nazi barbarism years, all those people were considered sub-human beings who had to be erased from the world. They were not women, men or children any more. They were infectious rats who were putting in danger the German utopia and had to be treated as rats.
      How do we deal with rats? Using poison, of course.”

    • @frog8220
      @frog8220 6 днів тому

      @@tabletopalchemy to be fair there’s more context to “spanish ignorance towards war” but vallejo does it well so AK could do too. I still use the paints I have from them but don’t buy new ones.
