It’s well known that making a movie is a difficult endeavor … that is an understatement. But somehow people do it, and so shall we. Let’s take the briefest of peeks at the mountain ahead of us, and then go shopping for mountain climbing equipment. Game on!

That was an awesome breakdown of just a small facet of this project. Sounds like you know what you're getting into. We're pulling for ya, man!!
WOW. I've never looked into the financial aspect of making a "small" movie before. It's a daunting challenge.
Been doing IT project management for well over 25 years and I totally understand the whole planning and budgeting process, and how it snowballs into a big project cost. You gave an excellent description of how it works, and that regardless of the specifics we need a ballpark estimate to even get the attention of all the people who might support the film. Back of napkin estimates, generated with 20% effort, and easily yield 80% accurate ballpark figures. Add a comfortable fudge factor and you're off to the races! Well done sir!
Slow is Smooth, Smooth is Fast.
Ok. That was terrifying. And earlier, when I said I was making a Battletech movie in my basement; no, I was wrong. Completely wrong. My mate and I, with a camera, green screen and some lighting are in NO WAY making a movie. Well, I've gone and purchased Silver Bayonet and the Rangers RPG books. So you are a good salesperson. And you can tell a good story. If you are looking for filler content, any time in the military would do. I loved my four year stint. All the best.
You know you curve the hat by forcing it into a hard plastic cup and leaving it overnight. Keep on working to make this dream reality, and thanks for pulling back the curtain on the industry.
I think everyone, or at least a lot of us have wondered how a movie is actually made. Like, from the ''I have an idea" stage to putting people in the theater seats. Honestly, some of the stuff you mentioned here never crossed my mind. Really seems like a lot of work, but, for what's it worth, I think everyone here believes in you. So, to borrow your words and slightly change them, go make that movie!
When you are ready for casting I am the greatest actor who has ever lived, just sayin.
Boggles my mind. I am staying tuned in as the story is interesting
Dude, I think that commenter is a plant and it's the future investor or producer....
I can’t wait to be on the other side of this project to vicariously share your sense of accomplishment.
Wow.
seriously though, i am grateful for your rangers of the shadow deep playlist----it will be the tutorial that helps future endeavors that we can't even imagine today.
Rock on.
I have a headache, right there with you. But I have faith in you and know you will defeat all the monsters blocking your path to success 😊
You cut your own hair? I love it. AlI this time I thought that you just combed it with an air hose.
I'm finally caught up on all the RoSD videos. I'm holding out hope... I want to watch this film.
The conundrum of filmmaking masterfully explained. This obviously ain't your first rodeo cowboy 🤠 Yeehaw! 😂
You might want to look at the old web series like fallout and (can't think of the name of the DnD style with Felicia Day). They were really good and low budget. 10 years ago??
Thank you so much for this! I'm very interested in processes and mechanics, and movie making is just a huge black box that I know nothing about. Very interesting to hear how the sausage is made, so to speak. And, Oregon has some wonderful wilderness and home to two production companies that I'm aware of.
