    Gabriel your content is so underrated. I subscribed a while ago after seeing your video about setting up the ZV-E10 with the Sigma 16mm F1.4 for talking head videos. It was so helpful. I regularly watch your new content even if I don't use or own the product you are featuring, I just really enjoy your style and presentation.

    What a great video! I also have a Shure SM7b and I can confirm that if you know how to make a proper EQ for it, it becomes unbeatable. The whole design is brilliant, and even if you take the foam protection off, it looks very cool. The fact that the capsule is not in the front, it makes the metal pop filter be very effective. If anybody wants the best overall microphone for long term, this is a no brainer, even if it's not cheap in price.

    Get the Maono pd400x and a glxlr mini. I have used the shure sm7b and the rhode pod mic and a few more. If you use the pd400x in xlr mode and learn to eq an set your own noise gate levels you can get the exact same sound. I believe my pd400x settings actually sound better than most peoples sm7b setup a cost is way way less! I also recently bought an audience id4 mkii and was strongly disappointed. It had more noise and needed gain maxed out to present the same volume that the go xlr mini puts out at 60db.

    • @GabrielVIP
      @GabrielVIP  Місяць тому +1

      Hey! I never tested the pd400x but I will have the opportunity I will do it.
      I had an id4 and the sound was exceptional. I don’t know in comparison with GO XLR but that's a great interface.
      I will try to test your setup :) You made me curious.
      Thank you!

    This video was exactly what I needed, exactly when I bought the shure sm7b, thanks a lot Gabriel for the value you provide!
    If I have a Focusrite 2i2 audio interface do you think I still need the cloud lifter?
    Do you have some easy to use recommendation for eq software?

    • @GabrielVIP
      @GabrielVIP  Місяць тому +1

      Hey!
      The 2i2 will work fine. It's powerful enough for the SM7B.
      All the Eq are and do the same thing. Some of them maybe will have more bands and some less bands, but all are doing the same thing.
      If you learn the principle, all will be equally easy to use.
      The native one that your editing software has it's perfect.

    Which EQ software can I use to make the microphone sound better? Possibly a video on how to tweak the EQ would get plenty of views. Great video!

      @@GabrielVIP Appreciate the response! I said the wrong thing, was speaking more towards something simple like using discord, or live streaming. Not any form of pre recorded post processing, more so a real time EQ tweak. Any suggestions for that?

    • @GabrielVIP
      @GabrielVIP  28 днів тому +1

      @bigpdstyle You can use the same plugin in OBS player and OBS I remember that it has its own EQ.
      When it comes to streaming I use Rodecaster DUO that has built-in EQ and processing. Is the easiest way to do it for Live sessions.

    • @bigpdstyle
      @bigpdstyle 28 днів тому +1

      @@GabrielVIP Excellent! I guess the last question I have(really the last) is if I'm just chatting with friends and family over let's say discord/skype and I want the mic to sound more clear, what would you suggest for EQ software at that point? No streaming/recording of anything just chatting online.

    • @GabrielVIP
      @GabrielVIP  27 днів тому +1

      @bigpdstyle hey. This is the trick: For Skype, zoom, etc, you need live processing. And for this, you need hardware that allows live processing.
      You can check Rodecasters, duo or Pro, and Podmic USB from Rode or audio interfaces that have live processing like Elgato XLR.
      You need live processing.

    • @FishyWishyClan
      @FishyWishyClan Місяць тому

      Isn’t it in some way though. I mean if you buy a usb microphone you still need to connect a cable and put in on some kind of stand, and you will probably want to eq it too. If you already have a audio interface w enough gain setup it is basically as plug and play as any other microphone, or am I missing something?

    • @UltraPatate
      @UltraPatate Місяць тому +2

      @@FishyWishyClan plug a usb takes 1 second, while equalising EQ for 10 hours takes 10 hours

    • @FishyWishyClan
      @FishyWishyClan Місяць тому

      @ I’m saying that to get the preferred sound out of a usb mic you should eq too, and in the same way that it’s possible to use a usb mic without adding any eq the sm7b (or any other xlr mic) can be used without eq

    • @GabrielVIP
      @GabrielVIP  Місяць тому +1

      You need to work a little but once you have the setup done, it’s unbeatable :)
      The EQ is not that scary if you know how to do it and even if you don’t, after you learn, you will do it in minutes.
      And if you record in the same spot you can even work with a preset.
      It is a little bit pricier than the other microphones but the quality is way better, at least than microphones that are cheap and plug-and-play.

    What is your favorite UA-cam studio microphone ? Would you recommend this or the SE Electronics Dynacaster Dynamic studio microphone you talked about in a previous video ?

    • @GabrielVIP
      @GabrielVIP  29 днів тому +1

      Hey! All of them are great mics but slightly different. I don't have one favorite, I have a few 😂
      - Dynacater it’s great if you don't want to use a cloud lifter because it has a built-in one. The sound is great and the pop filter is the same. Overall it’s a great mic.
      - SM7B it's the best in sound, best when in comes to shock-mount, tone, and pop filter (even better than Dynacaster), but expensive.
      - I also love the Evectrovoice RE320. The Variable D Technology is incredible and the sound is great. But you need a shock mount and it’s big.
      -When it comes to shotgun mics I love the AT875r but it’s a different kind of microphone.
      Overall if I need to choose just one I will go with the SM7b but all of them are great mics and you can reach perfect results with all of them.
      Thank you!

    • @MovingtoOhio
      @MovingtoOhio 29 днів тому +1

      @ ok great thank you for letting me know. In terms of the studio mics do you need an interface for both the Dynacaster and the SM7B. Haha I am sending all my footage to an editor so I want to make sure the audio is being recorded right. Is there a way to contact you directly. Your videos are great straight to the point. I appreciate the content.

    • @GabrielVIP
      @GabrielVIP  29 днів тому

      @MovingtoOhio You need an audio interface even if you use the Dynacaster or the SM7b.
      If you don’t want one, you need a USB mic.
      Send me an email at hello@vabrielvip.com and I will try to answer as soon as possible :)
      Thank you!

    No, cranking the gain to the maximum will not lead to more noise, if anything it will lead to less noise compared to the signal. See the relevant video of Julian Krause (seach for his name, and gain).

    • @GabrielVIP
      @GabrielVIP  Місяць тому

      I know Julian and I appreciate his content.
      If I turn the gain on my interface to 100% the noise is much higher than if it is as 70% and the signal difference is not that big compared with the gain at 70% as an example.
      This is my experience with a lot of interfaces.

    The SM7B is highly overrated. There are many other microphones that sound much better and are much cheaper, even condenser ones.

    • @GabrielVIP
      @GabrielVIP  Місяць тому

      There are some advantages that you won’t find on cheaper microphones. I have over 13 mics and the SM7B is great in almost any situation. But, yes! The price is high!
