Hey, Zelda is basically open world Metroid, considering that Castlevania: Symphony of the Night became one half of the origin of the term "Metroidvania" by mimicking Zelda rather than Metroid.

I think Samus latent Metroid DNA activated in a self preservation way, and not only saved Samus but absorbed some of if not almost all the big warrior Chozo energy/life force. Perhaps the last gift from the Metroid baby hatchling to it's mother.
Its her dormant x parasite berserker. Her previous power armor prevent this. There is two chozo faction, one that help samus and one that hostile both in zdr. Metroid cant be used to be weaponized. They create space pirate race, zebesian.
She is technically the last Metroid. I've felt this is going to be a big deal of the game. Remember in 4 (Fusion) they injected her with Metroid DNA to help her fight the X. Add the Baby giving her life and it leaving something on her. After she absorbed be the SA-X she could be an X as well creating some insane super weapon that everyone wants.
Think you're on to something. I notice this big Chozo is the same size as Ridley. Also IF she absorbed power unconsciously could her upgrades reject a new power frequency? They haven't before. But an original Chozo power source causing a reset? It would give a reason for all of the upgrades needing rediscovery.

@@mrgreatbigmoose Right, an immense overload of energy could reset her powers. Something similar happened in the Prime games I believe.
That pink glow that Samus has is also in the previous teaser, when she's looking at the hieroglyphics and balls up her fist.
The Homing missiles actually aren't new. Those are called Seeker Missiles. First appeared in the Prime series and later in Other M
This time they are called storm missiles. But with good reason. Instead of bombing 5 targets with one missile each, you shoot out 3 per target. whooping 15 missiles at once
as I see chozo hieroglyphs are like those from egypt, "big" doesn't represent height, instead represents highness, power, divinity etc

looks like the Kraid fight will be in the middle of the game, the suits will probably go like this Varia > Fight with Chozo (he is probably trying to get the power of the suit from her, maybe trying to remove all the chozo technology in the galaxy) > Blue suit(power suit) > Gain Varia suit back and fight kraid > Gravity suit.
Might also be possible. But thinking of Prime (1), the first thing you do if fight a boss and then lose most of your powers. However, if that would be similar here, with Kraid being the boss, that would mean the encounter with the Chozo warrior is not the very first thing that happens on ZDR.
I thing Samus lands on ZDR, explores a bit, discovers that temple thing by the bridge and finds Kraid in there. She kills him, walks outside and the warrior is mad she killed his pet.
They brought back kraid! I’ve wanted kraid back ever sense I played super Metroid… two months ago
I just beat it for the 27th time two days ago (a yearly tradition since 1993), took me 4 hours because I got turned around a couple times forgetting where I'm supposed to go (getting old sucks), lol. But yeah, pretty hyped for this game.
@@commandervile394 I do a Similar thing with Luigi mansion. Ever year around Halloween I play through that nostalgic mansion. Super Metroid is a great game though I can see why you would play through it 27 times definitely made me a fan of the series!
@@bagelgod946 Nice, another great one is playing Ocarina of Time and Link to the Past during Christmas time (december in general). Very nostalgic, takes me back to 1997, before the world ended, lol. Cheers.

@@noshed20 Yeah? Same here, it definitely played a big role in my childhood as one of the most bad ass games of all times. Hard to say which is my favorite game but it's up there along with Link to the Past. I play both every year.
At this point I wonder if we might even see Old Bird from the manga.

Honestly that opening scene has to be a good bit into the game because Samus' Power Suit no longer has Blue Pieces, and they've been covered by more Solid White Armour.
True! That’s assuming the blue pieces we saw are before this trailer though. Could have taken place after? Who knows

@@BanditGames Watching the Another Glimpse of Dread Trailer, she flies in with an orange Suit, with White and Gold arms below Shoulders, and Orange Chest Piece, then when she is shown on the planet the blue pieces are exposed among White Pieces
The dread report kinda spoils everything. It's confirmed to be at the start of the game. Just before we see her waking up with her blue suit
Id think her suit was starting to repair itself just for this fight to damage it again
Pay attention to the door she walks through in the orange power suit versus the door she looks at when she wakes up in the blue power suit. Same room. She encounters the Chozo at the beginning in her Varia suit and somehow loses her abilities. The fight they had damaged the door. She wakes up in her power suit and we see that.
11:17 The Chozo says "Hanar sen Olem" or something like that, which translates to "Power is everything"

I think that's the temple. The warrior's first beam missed Samus and hit the temple, damaging it.

Since the Metroid games were originally inspired by the Aliens films could that black substance be a reference to the Prometheus/Alien Covenant movies?

Important thing to note about her pink energy flash, in one of the glimpse of dread trailers, at the end of it her had glows with a strange pink energy. They could be different but there's definitely a possible connection there
a thought i just had: if this guy killed the Chozo who were responsible for the creation of the Metroids, that could be why he hates Samus. she probably still has a bit of Metroid DNA left in her from Fusion. that could also be the explanation for the energy surge. her Metroid DNA allowed her to involuntarily absorb the energy from his suit
At around 9:36, you can see that the highlights on Samus's arm canon are yellow, meaning that she doesn't have the plasma beam like she did in the battle against the Chozo, so this is a mid-game encounter after she recovered her varia suit
The stature of the boss chozo in the mural is not to indicate he is physically bigger than the other chozos but that he is greater in rank. Egyptian murals used stature in a similar manner to convey rank and status.

My first thought, when Samus goes all pink at the end of the trailer, was that the SA-X inside of her awoke. Because, if you remember, at the end of Metroid Fusion, the SA-X shows up to break the Omega Metroid's carapace and then is absorbed by Samus. The general thought was that, the SA-X had seen Samus as the only way for it to survive, by combining with her. The EMMI are sent to ZDR to investigate the X-Parasite prior to Samus's arrival, then they go berserk and try to kill her? My guess is that, by triggering an instinctual response of the SA-X inside of her, the EMMI now sense the parasite inside of her and now try to retrieve it.
which due to her own metroid dna, the parasite cannot directly feed on her, but it instead is giving her a kind of perfected symbiosis, with the metroid and x merging to make a stronger varient symbiote. the results of this are samus is both totally immune to X parasites and being at peak strength at the begining of the game, but her 1/4 human, 1/4 chozo, 1/4 metroid and 1/4 X dna makes her a prime target for the federation emmi droids, though the emmi droids might also have been placed there to capture samus as well because...well...samus and the federation are not quite on good terms since fusion had them wanting to make more metroids and SA-X to use for military use, which neccessitated samus blowing that whole place to bits. so samus is kind of positioned into a tough situation where to survive, she must face the federations drones and likely risk killing off some of the last of her adoptive families species. then again, it would not suprise me if the X-parasite infected the chozo antagonist in part, or they are thinking of using it as a weapon to aid in rebuilding the chozo empire by eradicating the federation, and any other enemies they encounter, assuming he had some way to control and breed them.
Alternate take on that last bit: the purple light is him blasting her. Samus wakes up in an x-parasite cloning facility and fight x-parasite clones of previous foes, leaving us to wonder whever the choso killed her and if the samus we play is just an x-parasite clone, or if we play the real samus.
Awesome video! I noticed ice missles and a beam upgrade at some point. A breakdown of all returning / new weapons and equipment shown would be cool!
You can kind of tell a timeline of events when you piece together the two different power suits Samus wears.

Dunno if anyone else noticed, but the pink-ish.. power thing could be the same from the second trailer we were shown in the end, the one that shows up in her hand in a paralysed state or something (which would actually add up pretty accurately with what happend here with the Chozo)

It's kinda weird but really really nice to see you covering another game that has a rich history and wealth of lore. It means more content from one of my favorite UA-camrs! I'm all for you going after the tiny details in more games like this because I can't get enough of your theories!

Oh man, i cannot wait for this game. Fusion was the only Metroid game I've ever played but i LOVED IT. I've seen pretty much all other games online. Knowing the is the end of the X parasite arc really hypes me up.

Something I noticed was samus's power suit going from what looked like the gravity suit to the varia while she was being choked towards the end before she closed her eyes

I have a feeling that the Chozo warrior has been pulling the strings behind the Galactic Federation since the beginning.

What if in the encounter with Kraid, we have the opportunity to team up with him? Kraid clearly doesn’t like being locked up and restrained, and Samus wants to kill this Chozo warrior. They have a common enemy. Perhaps there will be a portion of the game where we get to ride Kraid?

The order of events as I've pieced them together: Samus recieves the Federation transmission and goes to visit planet ZDR. You start off playing at her full power, and travel some ways into the planet, getting used to using her abilities, until you meet the giant Chozo. An epic battle ensues, but Samus inevitably loses. The Chozo drains energy from her (the pink glow) stripping her abilities for their own nefarious purposes and leaving her for dead. Then Samus wakes up without her abilities, and you have to fight and sneak through the planet, not just to regain abilities and escape, but also to find out what's going on with the Chozo and the Federation, and if the X parasite is truly alive.
Return of Kraid maybe implements an return of the Spacepirates under Evil Chozo Control?
i think that samus's visor turning red is the chozo firing. and she is alive because the chozo thinks she died
If you pay attention in the teaser from last week, the scene where Samus is knocked out in the blue suit appears to be in the same room as this. I think what's happening at the end of the trailer is the Chozo Warrior taking Samus's upgrades from her.

I think the main takeaway here is...KRAID IS BACK!!!!!!!!
If you look at the previous picture in samus returns, they meet and he blows them away.
I'm not an expert on hieroglyphs, but I assume that the size of a figure on these isn't their actual size, but reflects their importance/significance/power - gods/deities and pharaos/kings (also thought of as gods) are depicted huge, while humans (farmers, workers, worshippers,... etc.) are usually pictured much smaller (as they matter less, I guess)... (you should also know that in greek myths, originally, the giants/titans weren't huge, or, well: giant-sized, but very powerful instead, giants were originally human-sized, only much later the myths changed them)
game looks cool, they should port Samus Returns to switch, tho', and bundle the two together (or at least have a DL code bundled with the Dread game)

As a newcomer or a noob to the Metroid franchise, I wouldn’t even know where to start… something to do with the chozo… and something to do with the X parasite for fusion… apart from that I’m not sure. Also KRAID let’s goooo!!!
If you have a Wii U you can have access to pretty much them all (minus samus returns 3ds) zero mission would be a good start if you want to see samus origin story, the Metroid prime trilogy (and eventually 4) is more of a side quest and can be skipped if so desired samus returns for 3ds would be a could taste in how this game would play since there both made by the same company and it sets up later games (mostly fusion and this) super Metroid is a regarded as the best if you want to see the franchise at its peak, other m is important in terms of story but it’s best if you just look up the plot summary (the game isn’t well liked) and lastly fusion the prequel to dread so story wise it would be a good idea to play to get up to speed this is in chronological order if you want but essentially each title has there strengths to try out so it depends on what you value more

I personally don't think that it was a chozo civil war but more a purge by the king or emperor chozo similar to what the ancient Egyptians did to the Jews. This could also mean that they weren't being killed and possibly being enslaved or exiled (not sure why they would need slaves to work in a bottomless pit (maybe a mine)) I think this is backed up further as the painting thing depicting the king ordering his soldiers to kill people clearly takes inspiration from from ancient Egyptian inscriptions.
I believe that power surge could be the SA-X taking over during potential death or rage. I don't know if you guys heard but during that scene you can hear the omnious sound track from Metroid Fusion when you first encounter the SA-X. That's my belief on to why she got that power surge!

A thought on how an X parasite could be on this unknown world. She blew up their planet which could have sent X parasite particles through space. Maybe one landed here. Or maybe this evil Chozo was researching them to use them as a weapon since he obviously was against his own kind for some reason, maybe he didn't want the X to be destroyed by the Metroids and instead wanted to use the parasite to conquer the universe or something.
At the end, I thought that the light we see was from his blaster about to shoot her, and her eyes opening in pain- much like the emmi grabs and kills her in the first trailer. Maybe this is how she loses her powers? A power surge like the end of Super Metroid would be cool though, but I hope they would give away early game stuff and really hope they didn't just show us the final boss fight.

This will be my first Metroid game, but I’ve done my fair share of research on the lore of the series, and I am thinking maybe the final shot wasn’t a blast from the arm canon. Maybe, it was an injection of a new form of X-Parasite that Samus’ Metroid vaccine doesn’t defend against as an experiment from the Chozos (idk how to spell it) to make a “super” X-Parasite. Who knows!
I wonder if the pink color has something to do with Aeon Energy…the Chozo were all about it in Samus Returns.
Aeion is yellow though, not pink. It looks more like the effect metroids make when sucking the life out of a creature

maybe the kraid footage is a fight before samus even discovers the big bad chozo at the beginning and the reason she even finds him is because that kraid was a chozo experiment and samus was not supposed to find out making big bad show himself to kill the one who fould out what he was doing (samus)
That isnt the case as she has the power beam colours on her arm canon then, unlike how she has the plasma beam while fighting the chozo
you forget that this game is also about x parasites. The creature she is fighting in the room of that container with a creature are both clearly x parasites mimicking some other beings. And this is nitpicking but space jump is the name of her indefinitely jumping ability.

I think Samus was saved by that other Chozo right before he shoots her.
We don't know what the rogue Chozo's (plus his followers) motives are as of yet as far as I can see. Here are few things I can think of:
1) They are rogue factions that go against the other Chozo's philosophy of peace while they are more towards things that are very aggressive. Like in that secret photo in Samus Returns where he killed all of the science Chozo. He and his group went into the caverns to possibly capture some Metroids for their military purposes. The same goes in Dread with the E.M.M.I hunting down Samus to extract her Metroid DNA. Perhaps that rogue Chozo leader might have some connections with Old Bird, Grey Voice, or even with Samus a long time ago? Maybe even with Mother Brain and the creation of her? (FYI, Old Bird and Gray Voice are from the Metroid manga).
2) He might've done this for a good reason which is, going back to Samus Returns, that one of the science Chozo might've been an X-Parasite. This is why he and his group had to go down there to kill and make sure they weren't X-Parasite.
3) In addition to my second theory, they might be getting ready for some big threat possibly either in the current game in Dread or in future games which is why they're doing what they're doing.
4) He and his soldiers (if they are any living breathing soldiers like him) are X-Parasite and of course, know what their actions are in Dread. Their end goal, not completely sure, but all I know is Samus is their threat so they have to find a way to get rid of her. Plus, if the rogue Chozo is not the X-Parasite, maybe that scientist Chozo in ZDR might be instead. This leads to another question is does the rogue Chozo know about this scientist Chozo? Why was he not killed/captured by him? And how is he able to hide from him as most of ZDR is, from what I can assume, controlled by this rogue Chozo and his faction?
5) To include my first theory (and maybe my second and third points), perhaps that rogue Chozo is also the secret leader in the Federation's splinter group involved with the BSL and their decision to capture the X-Parasites and of course, cloning Metroids. If I recall, in the manga at least, the Chozo were one of the top contributors that helped formed the Galactic Federation. So maybe the rogue Chozo and his faction have some influence at some parts of the Federation for their own purposes as we saw.
So far these are the things that I can already think of at top of my head, but of course, we will find out when the game comes out.
If the chozo were an X, not only would the Metroids go after it on SR388 they would try and infect the entire federation and all creatures to become the dominant species of the galaxy as they would have the intelligence of the chozo to do so. Its highly unlikely its a X
@@meta9492 Possibly. But from the teaser that came out a week, we saw a glimpse of the X-Parasite that's on ZDR based on the transmission from the Federation. Or it might be a false transmission they were showing and the Federation/rogue Chozo might be using that to lure Samus into a trap. My guess is either that single X-Parasite survived and found its way to ZDR (for some unknown reason and method) or the Federation/rogue Chozo might've taken some X-Parasite samples (around Metroid Fusion and after Samus got infected) in which they not only took it to BSL, but to ZDR as well and possibly an outbreak happened over there as well which is why there was that transmission of the X-Parasite. Just my speculations there.
what if squiddy boy is phantoon? also at the end the visor is purple-ish. could it be a surge fo aon energy that protects her?
