Which Metroid game is your favorite? Mine's got to be Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. What can I say, I don't mind motion controls that much! Metroid Prime 1, is my favorite Metroid. It was the first Metroid I finished, but I haven't played the rest of the Prime series. The ones I've played in 2D are Super Metroid, and Metroid Fusion. I really like the 2D Metroids.
@Greg's Retro Channel 2 Actually, the Federation wanted the Metroids to be exterminated so the Space Pirates would never have another opportunity to create the ultimate bio-weapon. However, when Samus spared and delivered the last surviving Metroid to Federation scientists, they discovered that the Metroid species could possibly benefit medical science (which Super Metroid implies it as the Metroid's ability to feed life energy to someone on the verge of death). This is likely why Metroid Fusion starts its story on SR388: Federation scientists wanted to salvage any surviving Metroid DNA left on the planet. As for the X-Parasites, the Federation began to see them as something useful... possibly as bio-weapons. But Samus destroyed them before the Federation army could get to them.
I agree. Maybe in the future games, her new enemy will be the Galactic Federation or another evil organization assuming for this theory that they will not exist afterward. Basically, Samus's new adventure will be against them and maybe possibly some of the existing remnants of the Space Pirates if they exist somewhere. Or maybe that Rogue Chozo and his group if he still actually survives after the game. Just all speculation I'm throwing out there.
That would be a smart decision. Nintendo would end it's own era and possibility for more games as a whole. Not only that, they did leave Samus' suit up for debate again 🤷♂️ Like with Fusion for Other M. Then again, it still would be pitiful after just making 2 entries into the 3d sidescrolling genre (I'm not counting Return of Samus because it really wasn't necessary considering they murdered the AM2R fangame). Much potential, and, enjoyment, lie in keeping Metroid alive after Dread.
My favorite thing about this series is that it's called Metroid and then by the end of the series, samus poetically fulfills the mission that Metroid were meant to fulfill by becoming part Metroid herself. I feel like nobody ever talks about how cool that is.

Yeah I don’t think it’s ending, I believe they had said this was just the end of the Metroid story arc, her story will still continue but Metroids aren’t part of the story anymore or at least wouldn’t be a huge part of it.
Sakamoto specifically said Samus is going to continue on after this game. The rest is in the right direction though. I just think the Chozo are also up to no good
Well there's some evil Chozo that was reviled in the hidden memory from Samus Returns so there are both good and evil Chozo but good thing that Samus was raised by the good Chozo

I've only owned and beat, multiple times the "best" Metroid's, the Prime Trilogy. But definitely looking forward to Dread as well, this will mark my 1st 2D I've bought.
@Atomic Flash other M is an ok game for your very first one with no knowledge about superior metroids. But if you already played other metroids (save federation force) then you know it's pretty bad.
Fusion is my go to, EVERY TIME! It’s such a comforting game despite all its theme rival discomforts. The concept was brilliant and always keeps me engaged
I wonder if the games chronologically ahead will have a different name if Samus will be not dealing with the Metroids anymore. I also hope that the series will bring other stories related to the same universe, but Samus will probably not be involved. As an amazing character that Samus is I would like for the series to introduce other main characters.
If you have Nintendo Switch online play Super Metroid (Metroid 3). It is arguably the best game in the franchise. My favorite however is Metroid 4 (Metroid Fusion)

It’s so nice to see Metroid FINALLY get the light of day it deserves. I have loved this series for a while (but nowhere near as long as the OG fans) and it was always sad to see how few people knew about Metroid. To see such a resurgence and new people willing to give the franchise a chance, especially a side-scroller, is phenomenal. New fans and old are very happy and I’m very happy to see how welcoming the old fans are of new fans! Let’s show Nintendo that Metroid is one of its best franchises which was unnecessarily made into an underdog!
The message I got was that Metroid 6 and beyond wouldn't be about the Metroids at all, but a brand new intergalictic threat. One woman can't hunt a single prey for her entire life and be called a Bounty Hunter, after all.
Side material confirms she do other kinds of bounty hunting and the games only focuses on her dealing with Metroids because they're the series' namesake.
You were REALLY close, being right on the intentions of the EMMI’s being there, but not on WHO was using the EMMI’s and led samus there. I’m still not sure how RB got a hold of an x parasite cultivation.
If I understood the game right, the X got there because between Metroid 2 and fusion there was a group of Chozo sent to sr388 who came back infected, and were promptly locked up.
Metroid theory is actually what got me to watching UA-cam theory videos on certain games before finally settling mostly on Zelda. I would love to see more Metroid from you as well.
I was really excited for the reveal of Dread, not because i’m a fan of the franchise, but because I predicted a 2d Metroid haha. This got me to start playing Metroid now. Actually I know a lot of the lore of the games but I never played them, so I hope this becomes one of my new favorite franchises.
Why would it end? If anything, this whole metroid saga actually feels like a prequel to her future adventures. It seems like metroid saga was basically explaining how samus is in fact, a metroid. It basically explains the origin on how she became the last metroid. I'm guessing in the future, the whole galaxy will want to hunt her down or see her as a galactic threat.
You missed a few clues spread throughout games like Other: M. The Federation as a whole is a good-aligned entity. The issue comes from a few corrupt individuals who use existing and forgotten federation assets to do what they wish to do. The Bottleship was one of these assets, and I think the BSL research station was as well.
Nintendo said that Metroid Dread "will be the Samus Last chapter with the Metroid's". What they're saying is that there will be more title moving forward in the time line where there will be other threats, it will just be over the Metroid's. Nintendo's intentions is to expand the world of Samus. The only glimpse we get is a non-cannon manga called "Samus and Joey". I am very interested in what Nintendo will do next with Samus after Metroid Dread and Metroid Prime 4.
there's some things to take on count for more theories: the Dread Suit isn't exactly the same suit she had at the en of Fusion because of the properties of the Gravity Suit, that eliminates all liquid friction on water and even lava, but in the gameplay they showed us, Samus has problems to walk in water so, you can say this Dread Suit is on the basic Power Suit again wich takes me to another theory. Samus Suit was fixed by the living chozo we saw in the trailer, we still don't know if it's a good one or a bad one but i believe it's a good one since they said that we start deep inside the planet, different from all the other games where we start landing on the surface. there's also one EMMI that looks partially destroyed, what do you think could've damaged it so bad? for me it could've been the Chozo, i can think on the boss that give us the phantom cloak but i also think that the monster can destroy the EMMI completely so, if it wasn't Samus or the monster, it was the Chozo. there's also another thing i want to know more about and that was the mysterious man that Adam talked with on Metroid Fusion, since he wanted Adam to keep watching Samus but they don't talk ever again for the rest of the game, nothing besides one secret message that has more to do with the player than the story. another theory i have is that the Galactic Federation wants to capture the living Chozo if they can't take Samus's DNA because, who else can create more Metroids or Samus suits if not the Chozo themselves?
I'm pretty sure they said this was the end of this story arc not Samus herself. I've played all the Metroid games and I'm extremely happy to see you start doing videos on them. I've always loved your videos regarding Zelda so I think you'll do just great with these.
On the topic of the E.M.M.I. being "suspiciously more powerful than they need to be as research robots," I don't think that's true. Their armor may be made of the "strongest stuff in the universe" as stated on the Dread Report article, but that's really the only weapon they have. They don't seem like they would be too effective as weapons in wartime, but they're obviously excellent at hunting down indavidual targets due to their versatility and durability, which is their purpose in the first place.
This probably doesn't have much e a to do to with E.M.M.I but think the E.M.M.I want a piece of that x parasite and Metroid DNA I once saw a fan made Metroid and x parasite fusion imagine if we see that in Metroid dread mean it's highly unlikely but it would still be interesting
I think you missed something and took a wrong turn somewhere. Remember the secret 11th memory from Samus Returns: The Chozo who created the Metroids got smoked my a militant faction of Chozo. The same faction shown in Dread's trailer to be in charge of the new game's station. As such, they probably have live samples of both the X *AND* Metroids, and that is probably what The Federation picked up on.

Probably by the end of the game she’ll get an even more upgraded version of her original suit. Theres a chozo in this one surely he’ll unlock it or give it to her, or somethin like that
I think you summed up what we're all thinking. This is going to be about Samus' relationship with the galactic federation. I don't see Samus dying at the end however. I don't think Nintendo would end one of their flagship characters. I had not thought of this being a trap. That's a cool theory. Also, you just know that there are going to be metroids on this planet. I would be surprised if there aren't. Maybe some kind of chozo ruins too since they knew about the X somehow.
At this point in the timeline she's already destroyed several planets and committed a complete genocide of 1(maybe 2?) universe ending species. She was already a force to be reckoned with but now that she's part Metroid and X? If your theory is correct, then the Federation are making enemies with the wrong bounty hunter.
GREAT THEORY BANDIT!! Well thought out and perfectly in keeping with the shadiness of the 2D Galatic Federation. I don't think this'll be "The End" but certainly a GAME CHANGER.
Even though the game has been out for a while, I think you're correct on that theory of the Federation setting these events as a trap. I think there's a rogue faction within the Federation that worked with Exelion Star Corporation to make the Emmi units. While they were able to convince all of the other leaders of the Federation that they were made for exploration and study purposes, only they know that they were made solely for the purpose of killing Samus and taking her Metroid DNA. I think she herself is smart enough to piece that together during the course of the game, but doesn't say anything about it since she's focused on just defeating Raven Beak and getting off the planet. I think when she goes back to the Federation leadership to debrief shortly after this mission, she will confront all of them about the EMMI being so capable against her, which will force the Rogue Federation's hand to use fear and slander to convince everyone else in the Galactic Federation that Samus is too big of a threat to let live anymore. Only a handful of people within the Milky Way galaxy will be willing to help her run and hide.
Metroid theory yes!! *EDIT* Awesome theory/video, it was super entertaining and fun to watch! I really do hope you consider doing more Metroid related content in the future as Metroid and Zelda are my two favorite franchises of all time. Also, about how this might be “Samus’s final mission” as in she might die or it just being her final mission at all, the series producer has already confirmed that there will be more games/stories beyond Dread and that they are already planning the next episode/chapter in Samus’s story. However, as Nintendo has already confirmed, this does seem to be her last mission with the Metroid’s involved. Perhaps the next main enemy will be the Galactic Federation? We’ll have to wait and see. Also it’s noteworthy to mention that we see what appears to be a living Chozo in one of shots of the trailer so maybe that could tie into things? The Chozo did create the Metroid’s but like I said we shall wait and see, awesome video though.
@@claud77714 The thing is, why would she take a mission from the GF (and why would the GF give a mission to Samus) when they are clearly at major odds with each other? Samus also seems to really be the only person who knows about the illegal experiments and breeding programs the Galactic Federation were performing in Metroid Fusion, so perhaps like MNB said they lured Samus out to this planet to eliminate her/evidence that they did these experiments. Along with this, extracting DNA from Samus who has X parasite and Metroid genes for their own militaristic gain. We’ll see what happens though.

I remember playing the original on the NES as a young boy. It was amazing how they packed so much atmosphere into that world. No game had ever subverted my expectations as a young gamer like that before. Sweet Nostalgia
While I have the advantage of coming in after the game's release, I remember hearing the Japanese version of Fusion more or less outright calls the Federation factionalized during the ending iirc.
I’d be fine with a Metroid game depicting her final mission, but since we’re never given a clear age and timeline of Samus’ age aside from speculation, there’s so many missions, big and small, that can fit in between the cracks. They could also do alternate reality games, where maybe one event occurred differently and changed how something in her future played out, but I honestly can’t say I’d be a fan of that. They have a lot to explore regarding Samus, and even characters beyond her. Federation Force would’ve been a good game if it wasn’t released during a Metroid drought
Just 2 things to kinda correct here: first thing is that when samus absorbs a X she doesn’t gain the X’s DNA so she is still part human,chozo and Metroid AND there is nothing called the omega suit. If you pause in fusion the game never states the new suits name. It’s just a gravity suit with different colours

Yay! Could not stop grinning the whole way through! I'm watching this channel anyway for the Zelda stuff, but now I'm subbed! Also, Samus has definitely made enemies among certain parts of the Federation, but not the entirety of it. I really like that the Federation isn't a monolithic organisation, but instead is written far more realistically.
Prime: A Metroid becomes like Samus Fusion: Samus becomes like a Metroid Samus used to hunt Metroids Now they she is the one hunted. X parasytes are the real villains, but the federation is using Samus as an excuse, and hunting her down.
I clearly remember back around the time of Metroid Prime & Metroid Fusion that there was talk of Nintendo planning to end the Metroid part of the series, but continuing Samus's story in new games that didn't involve the metroids at all. So this all makes sense, really.

Metroid is based on the Alien franchise, at least thematically, and the Federation (or whatever they're called) are similarly ambitious and corrupt.

The director said this is the end of Samus's dealing with metriods. Her story isn't over.
He also said something big will happen towards the end. I'm worried but also excited.
I wonder if the games chronologically ahead will have a different name if Samus will be not dealing with the Metroids anymore. I also hope that the series will bring other stories related to the same universe, but Samus will probably not be involved. As an amazing character that Samus is I would like for the series to introduce other main characters.

This will be my first Metroid. The Switch came when I wanted to be exposed to other Nintendo games besides Super Mario. So i’m excited.
Metroid was one of the main reasons I bought a switch.
I suggest you play at least super metroid and fusion before dread even if this video makes it easier to understand the timeline :)
If you have Nintendo Switch online play Super Metroid (Metroid 3). It is arguably the best game in the franchise.
My favorite however is Metroid 4 (Metroid Fusion)

It’s so nice to see Metroid FINALLY get the light of day it deserves. I have loved this series for a while (but nowhere near as long as the OG fans) and it was always sad to see how few people knew about Metroid. To see such a resurgence and new people willing to give the franchise a chance, especially a side-scroller, is phenomenal. New fans and old are very happy and I’m very happy to see how welcoming the old fans are of new fans! Let’s show Nintendo that Metroid is one of its best franchises which was unnecessarily made into an underdog!

You were REALLY close, being right on the intentions of the EMMI’s being there, but not on WHO was using the EMMI’s and led samus there. I’m still not sure how RB got a hold of an x parasite cultivation.
If I understood the game right, the X got there because between Metroid 2 and fusion there was a group of Chozo sent to sr388 who came back infected, and were promptly locked up.

I was really excited for the reveal of Dread, not because i’m a fan of the franchise, but because I predicted a 2d Metroid haha.
This got me to start playing Metroid now. Actually I know a lot of the lore of the games but I never played them, so I hope this becomes one of my new favorite franchises.
Why would it end? If anything, this whole metroid saga actually feels like a prequel to her future adventures. It seems like metroid saga was basically explaining how samus is in fact, a metroid. It basically explains the origin on how she became the last metroid. I'm guessing in the future, the whole galaxy will want to hunt her down or see her as a galactic threat.
You missed a few clues spread throughout games like Other: M. The Federation as a whole is a good-aligned entity. The issue comes from a few corrupt individuals who use existing and forgotten federation assets to do what they wish to do. The Bottleship was one of these assets, and I think the BSL research station was as well.
bottom line is samus is part metroid part x-parasite and part CRIMINAL XD
Nintendo said that Metroid Dread "will be the Samus Last chapter with the Metroid's". What they're saying is that there will be more title moving forward in the time line where there will be other threats, it will just be over the Metroid's. Nintendo's intentions is to expand the world of Samus. The only glimpse we get is a non-cannon manga called "Samus and Joey". I am very interested in what Nintendo will do next with Samus after Metroid Dread and Metroid Prime 4.
I'm surprised there was no correction to this theory yet since the game is out and we now know the true story.

there's some things to take on count for more theories:
the Dread Suit isn't exactly the same suit she had at the en of Fusion because of the properties of the Gravity Suit, that eliminates all liquid friction on water and even lava, but in the gameplay they showed us, Samus has problems to walk in water so, you can say this Dread Suit is on the basic Power Suit again wich takes me to another theory.
Samus Suit was fixed by the living chozo we saw in the trailer, we still don't know if it's a good one or a bad one but i believe it's a good one since they said that we start deep inside the planet, different from all the other games where we start landing on the surface.
there's also one EMMI that looks partially destroyed, what do you think could've damaged it so bad? for me it could've been the Chozo, i can think on the boss that give us the phantom cloak but i also think that the monster can destroy the EMMI completely so, if it wasn't Samus or the monster, it was the Chozo.
there's also another thing i want to know more about and that was the mysterious man that Adam talked with on Metroid Fusion, since he wanted Adam to keep watching Samus but they don't talk ever again for the rest of the game, nothing besides one secret message that has more to do with the player than the story.
another theory i have is that the Galactic Federation wants to capture the living Chozo if they can't take Samus's DNA because, who else can create more Metroids or Samus suits if not the Chozo themselves?

I'm pretty sure they said this was the end of this story arc not Samus herself. I've played all the Metroid games and I'm extremely happy to see you start doing videos on them. I've always loved your videos regarding Zelda so I think you'll do just great with these.

On the topic of the E.M.M.I. being "suspiciously more powerful than they need to be as research robots," I don't think that's true. Their armor may be made of the "strongest stuff in the universe" as stated on the Dread Report article, but that's really the only weapon they have. They don't seem like they would be too effective as weapons in wartime, but they're obviously excellent at hunting down indavidual targets due to their versatility and durability, which is their purpose in the first place.
This probably doesn't have much e a to do to with E.M.M.I but think the E.M.M.I want a piece of that x parasite and Metroid DNA
I once saw a fan made Metroid and x parasite fusion imagine if we see that in Metroid dread mean it's highly unlikely but it would still be interesting
I think you missed something and took a wrong turn somewhere. Remember the secret 11th memory from Samus Returns: The Chozo who created the Metroids got smoked my a militant faction of Chozo. The same faction shown in Dread's trailer to be in charge of the new game's station. As such, they probably have live samples of both the X *AND* Metroids, and that is probably what The Federation picked up on.

I think you summed up what we're all thinking. This is going to be about Samus' relationship with the galactic federation. I don't see Samus dying at the end however. I don't think Nintendo would end one of their flagship characters. I had not thought of this being a trap. That's a cool theory. Also, you just know that there are going to be metroids on this planet. I would be surprised if there aren't. Maybe some kind of chozo ruins too since they knew about the X somehow.
Final mission =/= final game after all. Her missions are given to her by a specific faction after all, who was that again?
At this point in the timeline she's already destroyed several planets and committed a complete genocide of 1(maybe 2?) universe ending species. She was already a force to be reckoned with but now that she's part Metroid and X? If your theory is correct, then the Federation are making enemies with the wrong bounty hunter.

Even though the game has been out for a while, I think you're correct on that theory of the Federation setting these events as a trap.
I think there's a rogue faction within the Federation that worked with Exelion Star Corporation to make the Emmi units. While they were able to convince all of the other leaders of the Federation that they were made for exploration and study purposes, only they know that they were made solely for the purpose of killing Samus and taking her Metroid DNA. I think she herself is smart enough to piece that together during the course of the game, but doesn't say anything about it since she's focused on just defeating Raven Beak and getting off the planet.
I think when she goes back to the Federation leadership to debrief shortly after this mission, she will confront all of them about the EMMI being so capable against her, which will force the Rogue Federation's hand to use fear and slander to convince everyone else in the Galactic Federation that Samus is too big of a threat to let live anymore. Only a handful of people within the Milky Way galaxy will be willing to help her run and hide.

*EDIT* Awesome theory/video, it was super entertaining and fun to watch! I really do hope you consider doing more Metroid related content in the future as Metroid and Zelda are my two favorite franchises of all time. Also, about how this might be “Samus’s final mission” as in she might die or it just being her final mission at all, the series producer has already confirmed that there will be more games/stories beyond Dread and that they are already planning the next episode/chapter in Samus’s story. However, as Nintendo has already confirmed, this does seem to be her last mission with the Metroid’s involved. Perhaps the next main enemy will be the Galactic Federation? We’ll have to wait and see. Also it’s noteworthy to mention that we see what appears to be a living Chozo in one of shots of the trailer so maybe that could tie into things? The Chozo did create the Metroid’s but like I said we shall wait and see, awesome video though.
What if, and hear me out, mnb is talking about Samus's final mission... For the federation specifically?
@@claud77714 The thing is, why would she take a mission from the GF (and why would the GF give a mission to Samus) when they are clearly at major odds with each other? Samus also seems to really be the only person who knows about the illegal experiments and breeding programs the Galactic Federation were performing in Metroid Fusion, so perhaps like MNB said they lured Samus out to this planet to eliminate her/evidence that they did these experiments. Along with this, extracting DNA from Samus who has X parasite and Metroid genes for their own militaristic gain. We’ll see what happens though.

I remember playing the original on the NES as a young boy. It was amazing how they packed so much atmosphere into that world. No game had ever subverted my expectations as a young gamer like that before. Sweet Nostalgia
While I have the advantage of coming in after the game's release, I remember hearing the Japanese version of Fusion more or less outright calls the Federation factionalized during the ending iirc.

I’d be fine with a Metroid game depicting her final mission, but since we’re never given a clear age and timeline of Samus’ age aside from speculation, there’s so many missions, big and small, that can fit in between the cracks.
They could also do alternate reality games, where maybe one event occurred differently and changed how something in her future played out, but I honestly can’t say I’d be a fan of that.
They have a lot to explore regarding Samus, and even characters beyond her. Federation Force would’ve been a good game if it wasn’t released during a Metroid drought
Just 2 things to kinda correct here: first thing is that when samus absorbs a X she doesn’t gain the X’s DNA so she is still part human,chozo and Metroid AND there is nothing called the omega suit. If you pause in fusion the game never states the new suits name. It’s just a gravity suit with different colours
It's closer to a mix of the Hazard Shield Samus obtains on the Pirate's homeworld in MP3 Corruption and her Light Suit she gets in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes

Also, Samus has definitely made enemies among certain parts of the Federation, but not the entirety of it. I really like that the Federation isn't a monolithic organisation, but instead is written far more realistically.

I clearly remember back around the time of Metroid Prime & Metroid Fusion that there was talk of Nintendo planning to end the Metroid part of the series, but continuing Samus's story in new games that didn't involve the metroids at all. So this all makes sense, really.
