    Those invisible sculptures are fun until someone gets injured walking into one, and wants to sue. It would be easy to hide the evidence though.

    As far as refreshments . One time I was in charge of them in one of my own exhibitions. So I made many cut out frosted cookies that looked like one of my artworks in the show. That was fun to do. People remember you for that kind of thing .
    Rule #6, if it's time for the reception to end. Put the wine and cheese and other nibbles away. 🍡🍷🧀. You may be surprised when the food is gone the people leave. Ha ha ha. Just like the old saying ...You don't have to go home. But you can't stay here. 👩‍🎨 Lastly Rafi and Klee enjoy your exhibition aka art show. Wish I lived there. I will have to attend a art show in my area. ¡Celebrate Fiesta 🎊!

      I love the cookie idea. My art is abstract so don't know if cookies based on my art would work. Might just confuse everybody.

      @@liddybird3608 You could put them in small clear bags like a take away thing.With contact info artist cards in the or attached to the bags.
      And use color frosting of you art. I made my cookies small about 2"square I also made cookies the shape of a pallet 🎨. You could use premade cookies like ( Lorna Doones) and frost them abstractly with a palette knife or piping bag. You could make them to pretty to eat.🖼️

    They actually make triangle cardboard corners to put on artwork but you should put them on first before the plastic wrap.
    Also, you should be stacking your paintings face to face. You risk damage from the hanging hardware on the face otherwise.

    My one and only solo show happened to be the month of my birthday, so I chose music for the opening like it was a casual party. Fun stuff, things to make people happy. All of a sudden one of the people who helped me set it up changed the music to, how'd he put, to be more like a gallery since it was an art show. I flipped my lid and made him change it back. Talk about choosing music that will guarantee no one has fun or wants to spend money, holy cow. It was as much a birthday thing as it was an art show, but talk about mood dumping when he put the too-up-himself music on.
    I had some drawing paper out and a box of crayons, plus a roll of paper and pens so we had an exquisite corpse thing going as well.

    great advice, I am having my first solo show in June 2022! I think I hit on some of your advice? The show is called "Come see what inspires me!" the show will have my fused glass art but with the art I will have the working sketches, the photos I took and used as a reference, and layouts, I want to show the process to the final piece of art. The process for me is what is really interesting! All the pieces are nature and environmental themes. I like your last statement, HAVE FUN!!! I will try real hard to remember that, I am a little stressed but you helped!

    First, thank you and Klee for making these videos, they are so helpful, inspiring and entertaining. I am hosting my 1st solo exhibit in October. I am very new to this and I am nervous and excited but also curious as to how to sell the artwork at the show. I know I have to price them but how do you let people know how to purchase? How do you handle it when someone wants to purchase your painting? Do you give them a tag to put on the piece so others know that it isn't available? Is there a certain etiquette? Thanks!

    • @Rafiwashere
      @Rafiwashere  8 місяців тому

      Once sold I just put a red sticker on the tag. Ideally, if it's through a gallery someone will be incharge of that, if not, get a friend to walk around with an ipad and take care of the sales.

    I have questions. When you became an artist, did you have to have a business license or permit to sell or resale license? Did you need to register your business as an artist? I am trying to be an artist and sell my work but before I do, I don't know all business wise. Or can I just sell my artwork to people that are interested in my work?

    • @YellowMelle
      @YellowMelle 2 роки тому

      No one's answered you yet... check your city's website! :D I originally picked up the phone and called the business bylaw folks and they were very rude and threatened that even a dollar of profit would land me a $10K fine if I didn't play their rules, so I went through the trouble and did it proper. Lots of people dont and just fly under the radar, but I don't like waking up at 3am with cold sweats lol. Having the license also makes me more determined to make that money back, gives me access to canada post business discount, allows me to pay taxes properly (...yay? lol). I suspect different places have different rules though, which is why it's hard to get a definitive answer from strangers online :/
