Planning a trip to the Hebrides this spring and already having difficulty finding accommodations. Great info to pass about. Loved my visit to ardvreck castle as well as the ruins of an old MacKenzie house nearby
Accommodation always at a premium up north and on the islands, it goes quick! Spring is probably the best time of year to visit though so you'll have a wonderful time when you find somewhere

A couple years back I was searching what was available to show me what Caves there were in Scotland.
I didn't find any real Caves! Could you talk more about what makes Scotland the rugged beauty that she is;
along with the Castles!

Thank you! Skye doesn't have as many ruins as you'd think but there are a few and we'll look to get a video on the island as a whole done later this year 👍

Hi guys, I am a new subscriber but I am absolutely loving your videos so far! Castles are a new found hobby of myself and I plan to embark on a road trip around Scotland to explore some of the sites which you have shown us throughout your videos when I complete my degree in the summer.
Something which never fails to ignite my imagination when I stumble across new castles is the location of them, and how on Earth they would have been constructed all those years ago. Take Dunottar Castle for example, the way in which it lies on the land in such close proximity to the cliffs edge is astonishing!
Would you possibly be able to include some information regarding the way in which castles were constructed your future videos and who may have been involved in the construction process?

Hey guys, new to your channel and loving it. Is there no existing picture of what the castles looked like that could be shown? Even a 3D rendition to give us an idea would be spectacular.
This is something that really bugs me about the blackening of Neil Macleods name - not that he was an angel! At the time he was a depute sheriff officer under the Earl of Sutherland and under orders to apprehend the defeated Montrose. Montrose was making his way up Glen Cassley to hopefully get a boat in the North, to make good his escape. However, he was caught by Neil's men and brought back to Ardverck as a prisoner. Neil, at the time was away in Caithness so his wife had Montrose imprisoned in the dungeon. then handed over to the authorities. It is said that Neil was a friend of Montrose but given the disparity in ages, Neil being a young man and Montrose a seasoned general, it is almost impossible that they ever met. After the restoration of the Crown, Neil was charged with "betraying" Montrose and after a lengthy time in jail awaiting trial, the charges were dropped as there was no case to answer and is there in court records of the time. The story that still persists is a fabrication of events, written by a friend of Montrose - who was abroad at the time and didn't return to Scotland for many years after the event. This story is just that, a story, as they say in journalistic circles - "never let the facts get in the way of a good story!"
