Agust D is literally talking about everything that is wrong in the world right now. Since hageum is an traditional instrument but also means liberation of prohibition. He is really asking who's on board for the revolution, for the new world, for the new kingdom and to get on board now. So we can fix everything that is broken. This is a masterpiece. The lyrics and wordplay are incredible. This is what rap in my humble opinion should be. A way of making people aware of all the social, economical issues and more. And Suga just did that. Salute.
Well said, the world right now unfortunately is just running like scenes in a movie, where as one thing happens then the next and the next until some type of conclusion comes that ends up hurting everyone in the end and never solves anything. Your freedom comes down to what the person next to you thinks it SHOULD be and never what YOU want it to be. At the end of the day you should be able to do what YOU want as long as it doesn't hurt the person next to you. We all live different lives that have different scenarios and circumstances that go along with them and it should be left at that. Live the way you want to live. PERIOD!
Just like the daechwita mv, he kills the arrogant/evil version of agust d. The police officer Agust d was the rebel who killed the tyrant King and now this new rebel killed him when he became corrupt. Yoongi kills off the version of himself that becomes arrogant. The police officer agust d smirked before dying cause he knows the cycle won't end with him. In the ending shot, his hair is in front of his eye, like the scar. The cycle continues
Also for you to have a little bit of context A Thailand ARMY (shout out to Sky_hxneul) was kind enough to educate us and explain that this was filmed in Thailand and that place is called the "Thief Market" Rattanakosin Island's ( Old name of Thailand from 1782-1892) and it was the first international shoping center in the period after the abolition of slavery.. This is how he explained it : so this market came to exist because the people in the palace freed from slavery when they moved out of the palace, they received some goods from the master and also stole some They then brought those goods to sell them in this area. Now we know that Haegeum is a traditional instrument but also means the liberation of the prohibition..
9:34, the way i see this movie of AgustD is that, the black haired Agust, was thriving to k!ll the current Blond haired Agust, who was full in the control he has as a king, and now the current black hair is killing the previous black hair, because the second became the controliing king he wanted to push off the throne, so its like a vicious cycle of society, the underground pushes off the current kings, just to become the same kings. And also agree with him being himself not being scared of being poor, or not showing off the riches to the poor, creating a fake picture.
SUGA: "Haegeum can refer to the traditional instrument but Haegeum as a lift on a ban. In the past, when I was young and I played things like rhythm games, there were songs called "unlocked songs" if you beat a stage, you get the unlocked songs. Idols... Honestly, despite not committing crimes even a little thing becomes this big or doing something that could be considered a controversy, it becomes "Are they allowed to be like that?" I didn't really understand it even when I was young. But of course, that didn't mean I went around causing trouble. So, in the music video, there are smoking scenes and things like that. If this becomes a controversy when l'm 31 then really, as a social phenomenon, it makes me strongly wonder how I'm supposed to accept this. Like, let's unlock those banned things. And since people can see so much information within the palm of their hand, imagining or thinking. Even I started not doing them. So, regarding those things, let's get liberated. With advanced technology, we're able to get all kinds of information and see the situations happening on the other side of the planet while sitting. But I strongly felt those things kind of prohibiting my life actually. I can live without walking on eggshells as much. You have to live doing the things you want."
10:36 i saw a tweet that explains the symbolism of the chopsticks: "it’s rly pointed commentary on capitalism. or essentially: feudalism. what became his weapon in the beginning (his tool to criticise & stand up) became an utensil. in the end he has to partake in this bc of obligation. literally; to feed himself."
You absolutely caught most of Suga's hidden message in the first watch! This might be my favorite review of Haegeum so far. I know you are just coming out of a well-deserved break and I also know it has been a while since the release of Jimin's face, but I would love to see your reaction and review of his album. Or maybe just set me free and like crazy??
This mv is a continuation of daechwita. The antagonist in the haegeum mv was the "protagonist" of the daechwita mv, as he has the same scar though it has healed. In daechwita, yoongi was able to kill the tyrant king and take power, and to me this mv is showing how that power affected him, how instead of changing the system he used it to advantage and only replaced the king. The antagonist represents capitalism, slavery and all those things that take freedom and creativity away from the people, 'drowning' them as seen in that one scene, the antagonist wearing a suit and having a relationship with the police too. The other yoongi I think represents the people that are suffering from the current systems of the world and that are attempting to rebel against it.
10:36 my theory abt the chopsticks. i found it odd that they really emphasized the red chopsticks' presence in the last scene, so it must have an important symbolism. we get to see he used them to kill in the beginning and to eat in the last scene. What else kills and use to eat? mouth, well tongue to exact. we use tongue to eat, but it can also be deadly when we use it to bad mouth ppl.
I think the chopsticks are about survival. The things we do to even EAT have put blood on our hands. Capitalism does that. Even eating is participating in something wrong. Its all a system and we are forced to participate in the violence of it. Its a reminder that none of us is really innocent. Even if this version of AgustD is changing the world, he is also violent. He is also part of the problem. Because none of us is exempt.
Welcome back! I have missed your reactions! I am happy you took time to work on your mental health and I hope you are better now🥰 I love this song and Yoongis lyrics never disappoints! I hope you listen/react to the rest of the album. It is SO amazing!
haegeum also is a traditional instrument, which is used in the beat (like what he did with daechwita). LOVE his use of Korean culture and traditional music in his work

For me, this song is about being careful about your concept freedom. He said 'your freedom can be the cause of someone's death. Can you still consider that freedom?' or that 'you must remember to differentiate freedom from self indulgence'. S.korea has a real problem with cyber bullying and how the news like to frame things in a certain way, including about them. But people like to hide behind 'freedom of speech or freedom of expression' to say or do whatever they want, which is why he said 'differentiate freedom and self indulgence' and that we should be careful and aware of what we say. Yes, he is also saying about the the suppression of freedom of creativeness but also how this age is swashed with information that we don't know is true or not. But mainly he is warning us that just because we should (because freedom) doesn't mean we should. He is killing his alter egos, he did say that this might be the last time we agust d. And that he is done with being angry so much.
Glad that you are feeling better Linton & so good to have you back. Admire you for taking care of strength & sharing about your struggles. You are such a gifted, talented, articulate person & the world is lucky to have you. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
i love your explanation of yoongi's message, it was spot on. thank you for a good reaction, you were refreshing and wise. ps i like your pyramid on the shelf, i have some also.💜
I look at it like MJ said he's starting with the man in the mirror. You can't change the world if you don't start my being the change by killing what it weak/corrupt about yourself and keep evolving.
Welcome back missed your reactions and not knowing what’s gone on just hope you are in a better place. This song and album are another masterpiece. Her said let’s break the ban on how we think including how we see kpop stars. He’s killing people with chopsticks (someone on Twitter said the image of using a tool they been mocked for at school for using was crazy), when idols like Taehyung in BTS have had numerous huge “scandals” about maybe n.Urey photos of them smoking he straight up has both characters smoking like “I dare you to say something about me doing this”. He’s filled this with so much visually and lyrically. Again glad to see you back and may your week be good.
This song and the mv had me in a chokehold. Not only did Yoongi's acting get MUCH better (and he was already literally a pro), but the entire cinematography backs it up. The song is a banger, no doubt. Haegeum is a traditional instrument, but it also means release from prohibition. The mv is so fascinating. In Daechwita, he killed the blond Agust D because he was too corrupt with anger and resentment. Agust D couldn't take it anymore. But in Haegeum the Agust D scar ended up as corrupted as the blonde Agust D. It's interesting that the new Agust D basically started the mv by killing a person and ending with the memory of it. Agust D is a trilogy because Yoongi was finally able to unite with Suga and Agust D. They are no longer apart because he learned to embrace all of his feelings. In this MV, the new Agust D. is a vigilante and violent villain because that's what Agust D is. But instead of just killing the scarred Agust D, who in this narrative, is a corrupt secret agent, (as happened to the blonde Agust D), he ALSO burned the money scar that Agust D had. My interpretation is that this whole mv revolves around FREE SPEECH, which may not be correct. 🤣. Finally, cheers to SUGA for yet another unique work of art.👏❤
the strings you heard might be the actual instrument Haegeum.. it's a two-stringed traditional instrument.. he performed it with a live band on his documentary, and it's very clear
some ARMYs on twt says the chopsticks might symbolize like "K*ll to survive, eat to live" sort of thing ( it's not their exact words but it's somewhere along that line)
According to army on twt. Army pointed out the way Scar eye Agust D smirks at the end means he knows he will still be back and hunt modern Agust D. He doesn't scare to death cuz the cycle will eventually continue.
"the symbolism of the red chopsticks which he uses both to eat and to kill; "it is killed to eat and eaten to live." our own existence and survival is based on this endless cycle."
About time a reaction that’s real, analytical and knows his stuff 🙌🏽 So good to have you back! This masterpiece hits hard with realities of the society we live in today. Genius 🎤 🎶🖊️
Haegeum is also a nod to him killing his alter ego Agust D. D-Day is the end of the Agust D trilogy. Amygdala explains why he was so angry. But he said in an interview that the album should be listened to in order to understand.
This is the real savage Suga...to me Haegeum is like the continuation of Daechwita... n i love him million times more. Was he an actor disguissed as idol ??? Suga has so many layers...indeed💜🔥💥🔥💥🔥💥💪💪💜
Your review was soooo good and professional, just like always and you said literally what I thought when I watched the MV for the first time today. You are really good with words and again Yoongi brings a masterpiece. I was not expecting less 😍so cool and so honest omg (and so handsooomeee ❤)
My dude your voice has been missed so glad to see you. Love seeing your take on Yoongi’s new stuff and look forward to any other song on the album you react to.
Linton I just want to say that I always finish watching your videos feeling a bit better and a bit lighter. You seem so wise and enlightened and like you have a good head on your shoulders! Glad to have you back!
Thank you for watching Agust D. I think your reaction is the one I watch that understands the lyrics and emphasizes them clearly. I really love how you reacted to it; you literally understand how music videos and lyrics work.
If only more people understood just how much their freedom to speak up was being compromised. Maybe this MV will make ARMY think about it on a deeper level, and certainly, your comments help, too.👍🏻
Linton!! OMG I have been looking for your channel. I used to watch your videos and suddenly stoped seeing your channel pop up. I love your videos cause you go deep and actually talk about the videos instead of surface level stuff like simply what it looks like. ❤
basically suga killed agust d in this video Just like in Daechwita, Suga kills his alter ego King/ Boss self even in Haegeum. suga said in one of his interview that he finally free from the past negetivity surrounded by him he forgive all the people who hated him and he is happy and calm these days so it may be impossible to see agust d in future
3:48 and 5:54 I actually interpret it the opposite way, he said "your freedom of expression could be reason for somebody's d*" and "You must remember to differentiate freedom from self-indulgence", the way I see it is talking/criticizing about this way we are living "I can say and do whatever the eff I want, we all have the right to be free so who are you to tell me otherwise" and this type of thinking is very dangerous because there'll be always people taking this "freedom" too far.
Relating the lyrics about current society with the MV, if you noticed, the one he killed is a policeman, a person of power and authority, but is corrupted. That is literally many politicians in the world right now.
I really like your thoughts on songs you react to. Thank you for sharing and making people think a little bit more about themselves and life. Your reactions are the best ❤ aaaand I also hope you’re okay know ❤
I'm glad that you're back and feeling happy and healthier. To me, this mv is an updated version of Daechwita. The disagreement and war between Agust D and the King continues in this new century.
Saw a video from his documentary where he was saying that he felt like he was restraining himself from fully expressing his views and ideas because everything is so readily available for people to ctiticize. He said that this was his way of telling people to mind their own, I'm a grown man and I'm gonna say what I feel and do what I want (i.e. smoking in a video) even though I'm an idol. And good for him. People need to realize that they're human beings too and something so small shouldn't be the end of the world
I think his constantly killing himself represents ego deaths. You have to go through many to find your true self. I've been through a couple and they're painful, almost like real death. I appreciate your commentary though. You helped me to see things I hadn't at first.
He mentioned in some interview that I saw (can't remember which) when he was talking about the mad king persona in Dechwita and that that "persona" represented the side of him rooted in anger and hatred (it was during a time he was very angry because of the hatred they were getting). In this one it seems the cop (with the same scar as the king in the other video) represents not only the conformity and strict social expectations placed on people but may be the side of him (and all of us) that can be greedy, ruled by youtube or social media, and all those things he listed in the song. In both of these videos however, he "killed" that part of himself. I feel like this shows that he has either overcome those things or is at least striving to...but that's just my personal thoughts on the matter. The next video that you should watch is his new one for Amygdala. Not only is it the most intense, emotional, and deeply personal one I've ever seen from anyone but it shows the "origin story" of the scar that both of these personas had in the other 2 videos. That one will blow your mind.
You’re back! I’ve missed you’re content. I just watched you’re other video to see where you have been, I’m sorry you have been struggling but I’m glad you did come back and like you said take it at you’re pace this is something you enjoy it shouldn’t be something that stresses you out so take it bit by bit and we will be here! I hope that makes sense not good with words haha. Ps. I’ve just finished listening to August d new album and it’s such a good listen and healing would definitely recommend you give it a listen even if it not for content. Music always helps 😊
Love the being your true authentic self despite society’s prejudices and bull. In this country that harps on “freedom” for all when usually only those privileged or in a “superior” position in society are able to seek that with no issues; which is self indulgence itself cause they don’t need whatever “freedom” their commanding for. They are not the ones restricted in society but simply just wanna say and do whatever they want without consequences but that’s not how life works. The line of freedom of speech can definitely be blurred when an individual doesn’t properly express what they want or mean, but I think what’s important is when they do properly express what they mean (or do). If thats the case, theres no way that can be misconstrued. You can “say” or “do” whatever you want as long as you understand that consequences come along with that, especially if it’s at the expense of somebodies mental, emotional, or physical well-being in any way. There’s so many other examples like I go on about but this one was stuck in my head. He really telling us to get tf on with the revolution like fr who’s on board😌
So the word haegeum has two meanings in Korean. One being the name of a traditional Korean string instrument that I think it was used in the beginning when the beat drops. Two, also has a meaning of releasing or unlocking what was forbidden, hence this is a song of haegeum. Hope this helps. 😊
Minute 4:40... So exited, talking about something quite different from what he actually said, picking and read just some of the lirics changes the meaning of his messages... Like so often happens with words out of context This song is not about the redoudent "ohhh, I'm free to do whatever I want" it's about what is freedom? What is restriction?...
You asked about the symbolism of the chopsticks so im gonna leave here what an army said "he uses the chopsticks to both eat and kill. You kill to eat and you eat to live. Our own existence and survival is based on this never ending cycle." and "agust d eating with the chopsticks he murdered someone with is direct commentary on having to participate in the capitalist society he consistently criticizes in order to survive" both make sense
I love your commentary on this! Pointing out things I didn’t see. This “해금” is a flaming inferno 🔥🔥🔥When I moved to Korea in 2011 and started listening to K-pop (the group Big Bang was my K-pop “gateway drug” lol), it was rare to see black guys on UA-cam doing reactions vids to K-pop artists. Back then, I wanted to see more black people on UA-cam giving more K-pop commentary. Well, now that day is here! 🥳 Korean rappers got more bars than Alcatraz 😎 Keep up the great work! I hope you take the chance to visit Korea too (if you haven’t already). It’s a cool place! 🇰🇷
The reason he’s killing himself (again) is to illustrate this idea about his inner self that his demon, the corrupt, greedy, vengeful version of himself will always rear its head and it’s a constant cycle of keeping himself in check what with all the power he has that comes with his fame.
It's not whether freedom of speech is still freedom with restrained it is, he is talking about the opposite, how people run their mouths without thinking of consequences (freedom of expression could be someone's death, could you still call that freedom?). It's how overindulgent people get with freedom, as your freedom ends where the other person's freedom starts, but people tend to ignore that, and just try and run over other people.
i think i've read somewhere that Agust D in blue is a cop killing the Agust D in Daechwita who killed the king because that Agust D had also become greedy. and i think, he keeps killing himself because betrayal begets betrayal. i guess. hahaha
Linton! It is so good to see you back, you look great! I always love your commentary on BTS. You get it and them, especially Yoongi. I think you might be kindred spirits. Lol Always looking for you and I just want you to know that you are loved. Have a great rest of your day my guy and again...Welcome Back!
Omg u have no idea how many times i watched ur old videos because u didn’t upload anything new. Like every new song came out i came here to see if u came back or not and now u did😭😭😭 i hope u r well and of course i hope u stay here for a really long time😅😅
Casual yoongi does not hve the scar in this video .. the 3 piece suit yoongi hve the scar , in daechwita , both the yoongi king and rebel yoongi hd the scar over his eye but in this video , only 3 piece suit yoongi hve the scar . No idea if there is some meaning behind it or if its just a aesthetic decision .. and he is using both . A haegeum is a musical instrument and then its also a expression related to societal restrictions i think ..
Freedom of speech is fine. However, we shouldn't forget that there are also responsibilities attached to that and other freedoms. Which he mentions briefly as affecting someone's life - they also mentioned it in Ugh! btw... Just because someone has an opinion doesn't mean they always need to vent it anytime and everywhere, especially if it hurts another person. If someone uses their words without consideration, honestly, then they're just a**holes. 😉
Agust D is literally talking about everything that is wrong in the world right now. Since hageum is an traditional instrument but also means liberation of prohibition. ironically fits what's happening now in the world

Hi Linton, cheers! Nice to see u back! Enjoy our Suga killing his alter ego AUGUST-D when he gets too much as a menace to society...
The MV director even did a 3D animation of the MV in advance with all the details how should be in the MV
no way, can't believe they went that extra mile! That's def something I appreciate you pointing out
Oh wow, where can we see that!!?
some ARMYs on twt says the chopsticks might symbolize like "K*ll to survive, eat to live" sort of thing ( it's not their exact words but it's somewhere along that line)
According to army on twt. Army pointed out the way Scar eye Agust D smirks at the end means he knows he will still be back and hunt modern Agust D. He doesn't scare to death cuz the cycle will eventually continue.
I really miss your videos.. i'm like "where's he?".
I hope you're okay now.
Stay healthy for you and your family.
Thanks for the reaction!!
tbh good to have u back i hope everything is going well missed u man hahahahahah
Glad you're back l miss you so much..thank you for coming back. Their so much inside of us we still have to kill.
It’s kinda crazy how I literally came to your channel two days to see if you had uploaded
Glad to have you back!
wow welcome backkk❤❤
This Ablum is absolutely killer 🔥🔥
I've been missing your reaction! Welcome back and I hope everything is okay for you.
You know my birthday was yesterday, i feel like you are one of my gifts. So happy🥰😘
Btw this MV pleaseeeeee!!!! So fire
That was so sweet 😢❤ appreciate you!
I miss your reactions 🥺 so good to see you back
I’ve missed your content! I’m glad you took time for yourself! Sending love 💜
Your reactions are the best ❤ aaaand I also hope you’re okay know ❤
Welcome back, Linton! 🤗💜
People need to realize that they're human beings too and something so small shouldn't be the end of the world
so glad you're back! i hope you're doing well now. as always, your reactions are always the best!
Good to see you back
Good to see you again, hope you're okay🥰
I think his constantly killing himself represents ego deaths. You have to go through many to find your true self. I've been through a couple and they're painful, almost like real death. I appreciate your commentary though. You helped me to see things I hadn't at first.
LINTON 🎉🎉 I'm so happy to see you, I hope you are doing well 💜 I've missed you a lot, but take your time no rush.
glad to see you commenting Maria! thanks for the warm welcome!!!!!!
Very happy you are back!
Я так чертовски скучала! Надеюсь сейчас тебе лучше. Люблю твои реакции :) береги себя
I'm glad you missed me, it means a lot!!
Omg i miss your intro so much.. welcome back 🎉
In the documentary he told why he used those cigarette scenes.. Check the doc it's so good
Welcome!We miss you!❤
I really enjoyed your reaction and you own analysis, Yoongi is such an amazing lyricist as you pointed out, we can definitely appreciate his craft💜
I'm glad you are back. 🙏🙏
Music always helps 😊
so happy you're back
You my fav UA-camr. I love it here. You look amazing & your reactions is amazing and usual. A1 content 🥰🥰😍 keep up the great work lintie chali
When he walks in the restaurant in the last scene, he's carrying the black coat of the man (himself) he just shot. Like a trophy.
ive really missed you im so sorry its been hard for you always keep in your mind how precious you are 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
glad you back, with love from Ukraine^^
We missed you Linton! I hope things continue to improve for you 💜
Minute 4:40... So exited, talking about something quite different from what he actually said, picking and read just some of the lirics changes the meaning of his messages... Like so often happens with words out of context
This song is not about the redoudent "ohhh, I'm free to do whatever I want" it's about what is freedom?
I’m glad you’re back…thank you so much for your review…love the analysis you did
Welcome back! I hope everything is well for you! ❤
The reason he’s killing himself (again) is to illustrate this idea about his inner self that his demon, the corrupt, greedy, vengeful version of himself will always rear its head and it’s a constant cycle of keeping himself in check what with all the power he has that comes with his fame.
Glad you’re back! Take good care!
Give the man an Oscar!!! Stream smart Army!!! 💜
I hope you're now doing well Linton. Please take care of yourself and take a break if you need it. Mental health is important. Borahae 💜💜💜💜💜💜
Loved your interpretation!!
Like the analysis. Thanks for it
i think i've read somewhere that Agust D in blue is a cop killing the Agust D in Daechwita who killed the king because that Agust D had also become greedy.
and i think, he keeps killing himself because betrayal begets betrayal. i guess. hahaha
I like the way you put that!
Linton! It is so good to see you back, you look great! I always love your commentary on BTS. You get it and them, especially Yoongi. I think you might be kindred spirits. Lol
Always looking for you and I just want you to know that you are loved. Have a great rest of your day my guy and again...Welcome Back!
Thank you for such kind words bro, it means a lot !
Omg u have no idea how many times i watched ur old videos because u didn’t upload anything new. Like every new song came out i came here to see if u came back or not and now u did😭😭😭 i hope u r well and of course i hope u stay here for a really long time😅😅
It’s good to see you back. ✌️💜
Hey, glad you're back, good to see you!
Personified an image, and realizing your already it... youll always want to be until you realize you are... ego death
🌈GLAD YOU'RE BACK
