I know it’s hard to watch the MV & read the lyrics at the same time. But I know people appreciate you guys trying to do both! Whatever works for you guys ☺️ but glad you liked the song & loved the reaction! I can’t wait for the 3rd & final song in the trilogy. Amygdala. It’s definitely one you want to really pay attention to both MV & lyrics. Such a great song!
Just one small note: I believe that the "freedom" SUGA speaks about here is really about overall freedom, not only freedom of expression (although yes, for sure expression is mentioned, of course). Basically, it's the realization that practicing your own freedom can impinge on the rights of others (think the US during COVID and the mask debate, or anti-vaxxers who are breaking down the herd immunity for diseases long thought mostly eradicated (polio, measles)) but that have made inroads on coming back. This lyric is key, I think: "But I truly hope you differentiate freedom from self-indulgence." There are allusions in the song to idols who are expected to be perfect and get slammed with hate (just netizens "expressing freedom of thought 🙄) for doing something as minor as smoking or dating (SUGA smoking in this MV is definitely not random, in other words). It's incredibly poignant when you know what happened with SUGA this year - it's like he was foreseeing his own future.
Exactly!!!!!! And Polar Night is song about yellow journalism that's on the D-Day album!!!! 🤔 Oh, and Suga's genius goes even farther back to his 2020 D-2 mixtape song Strange featuring RM!!!!! What Suga and RM has to say in that song they wrote in 2019, is especially more relevant today in 2024!!!!!! They are lyrical geniuses!!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
As someone who's quite a newbie fan, I think that older fans often forget how difficult it is in the beginning, when you don't know Korean, you're not used to watching a music video with lyrics in a language you don't understand... I hope ppl can be patient and understand that they're doing their best.
So happy you guys decided to do the trilogy. It's totally okay not to get everything Suga is saying in the song. Whenever they drop an MV, we all have to watch it several times to try to pick up on all the details especially for international ARMYs who don't speak Korean so I appreciate you guys trying do it all at once. As someone who studied literature, I just wanna say there is no right or wrong answer when it comes to interpreting art. There's always going to be the artist's vision and intentions but once the song gets released, it belongs to everyone, and we are all free to take whatever we see in it as our own interpretation. Art will always mean different things to different people. Can't wait for you guys to do AMYGDALA. It's my favorite part of the trilogy, and it's definately the heaviest. Suga gets really raw and personal discussing his struggles with depression and it resonates with so many people. Finally, it was so great to see you guys all together in one room 💜
omg embarrassed to say this but seeing all of y’all in a room together made me a little emotional! 😅 watching y’all’s bts journey has been so fun and i really love watching y’all absorb all the details. when i get into depressive slumps watching reactors get introduced to bts and start appreciating them is like my go-to self care, so i wanted to take some extra time to say thanks for being with me through some tough times this year. jake’s reaction to first love will stay with me for a long time 💜
To my interpretation: Criminal Suga is an Anarchist, a rebel. Cop Suga is s corrupted Cop. Suga is not stealing the money for himself, he’s saying: you won’t give up this crazy pursuit of money? Doing everything for money no matter what or who you hurt in the path? I’ll take your money from you!!
Hi guys, just wanted to thank you for reacting to BTS this way. I really like your format, and the surprise factor. 💜 And I’m seeing you in the same room for the first time, loved it LOL
The easiest solution to lyrics+ mv issue is watch the thing twice - first without the subs just taking it in, then with subs matching the words to what's happening 😄
Cop Suga is the bad one. At the very start, rogue Suga is robbing a drug den of their ill gotten gains and there is a bald guy making a call as Suga walks down the corridor, he is actually warning the cop Suga that they are being raided. (You see him taking the call as he walks). Suga just burns the money in the end. Also when he shoots cop Suga the onlookers don't care as he was corrupt. They even give rogue Suga a ride home!! He may be perceived as a bad boy but he rejects money and a life that isn't earned and will always do what is right in the end. Just like our REAL Yoongi.💜
Exactly!!!!! Even though he thought he "killed Min Yoongi" in The Last, he didn't really kill kill him, he just lost a part of him and thought at the younger age, he could never get that part back!!!!! In Haegeum, street criminal Suga was his real self that he "found" and decided this is Min Yoongi, the real Yoongi. I'm comfortable with it!!!!!
Some of my fave reactors will watch the first time with no lyrics or pauses just to get the vibe of the music and flow. Then watch again with lyrics. You do what works for u. 💜
I believe that music is like art. Everyone can interpret it differently and that's okay. If you can appreciate it and take something away from a song, I believe that's what BTS always try to achieve. They have a message that they always want to share. But don't be afraid to interpret it however you want. 💜
The chopsticks represent 2 sides, 1 as a weapon, the other for sustenance. I love, love this trilogy and all its meanings! Suga is killng off all of his greedy sides.... #agustDcatharsis
@tahbofficial I can get a bit pissy if people are disrespectful but I saw that reaction, I watch them all, and you weren’t. You never are. ARMY can get a bit touchy. But right now there’s a lot going on with bts being attacked, including false accusations against V that the military had to set right & death threats against Suga, so everyone is very protective right now. Only suggestion I have: never just go by the first definition when looking up words. BTS can use every meaning in the same song- ddaeng, daechwita, haegeum. Don’t worry, outside of an explanation video you’re not going to get everything.
Thank you for mentioning this cuz it really is crazy right now in S.Korea what's been happening to the guys despite most still serving and hard to explain to people new to BTS, it's difficult to go into details cuz it's overwhelming but just to sum it up there are a lot of power people from rival companies in S.Korea that feel threatened BTS is returning soon and they are becoming desperate. They decided to attack them and do smear campaigns against BTS while they are all gone in the military cuz they aren't in the position to defend themselves being enlisted. Army has been through it these last few months with the attacks against the guys becoming bigger and more often, it will likely get worse before the guys are released unfortunately. We are so ready for this to be over, June 2025 can't come fast enough.
No need to really worry, but we need to stay informed!!! The plot, by SM, Kakao and former CEO of Ador MHJ, to ruin Hybe by taking down BTS has failed!!! Two plots in play both needed Hybe to fail and the only way was to destroy BTS!!!! MHJ wanted to take over Hybe and insert her GG New Jeans, who she stated was bigger and more important to Hybe than BTS!!!! 😅😅😂😂 Kakao wanted an agreed merger with SM, but in order for Kakao to go public, with IPO, Hybe needed to fail. In 2023 Hybe was set to purchase SM, but SM and Kakao manipulated the SM stock and Hybe stopped the deal. I believe executives for Kakao are being charged with stock manipulation!!!! This is a nightmare drama, as K-media who are BTS haters have been reporting innuendos favoring everyone but Hybe and BTS!!!!! Sound familiar - Suga's non-scandal kickboard situation turned into the crime of the century!!!! But a few days ago, former CEO MHJ officially resigned from Ador and this "mama" abandoned her "daughters" of NJ!!!!! So the Suga death threats, who many believe are coming from NJ fans who support MHJ and are basically her cult members that do her bidding, should hopefully ease up! These death threats were deemed credible, which is why Suga was transferred to an on-base assignment. This was done to ensure his safety!!!!! #protectSUGA #protectBTS
Wow, nice to see you together. I personally enjoy your reactions very much. Of course it is super hard to get the whole thing from the songs in one take. There is music, MV, lyrics to pay attention to. It is too much. It takes like 3 or 4 times to grasp the whole cncept. Thankyou for your time.
Detective is actually corrupt and the criminal Suga is undercover cop - who'se might not be so pure himself, as he did not arrest the corrupt one. ;D The end with the red chopstics is reminding us we all are killing to eat, and how things are circular in life.
No, the second Suga is a street criminal, not a cop!!!! He becomes the leader of the corrupt detective's men because he killed him and took over! That's why he goes back to the scene of the crime because he's the boss now that took over from corrupt detective Suga!
You're doing your best. After all this time, I can see you're genuine about your reactions. If people don't like it, the exit is that way. Thank you for your reactions and for appreciating BTS.
Valeu! Hey boys, are you okay? Well, I'm loving the new video format, you guys in the studio are perfect. Well, sit down and here comes the textão. - The song's lyrics suggest a reflection on freedom of expression and how it can be limited by various factors, such as censorship, the oppression of ideas and even self-censorship motivated by fear of reprisals. Agust D invites the listener to 'get on board' with this freedom, to free themselves from the constraints that restrict individual expression. Both of Suga's personalities smoke!!! So he's lifting the ban on something forbidden by actually lighting up and smoking!!!!!!! And you can clearly see he smokes in real life - as he lit those cigarettes way to smooth and sexy!!!! 😅😅😂😂 How dare an idol smoke!!!!!!!!!! The horror!!!!!! The nerve!!!!!! The scandal!!!!!!!!!!! Jake... What the video till the end. What's it really about the criminal and the rules? The cop was dirty, so who is the bigger criminal...the one that one you know or the one that uses the power of authority? So look at what is saying about preconceptions, about having your own mind, and one of the main things he said, be said it twice... "Differentiate between freedom and self indulgence"
i was reading comments before pressing play (dont judge me) and i thought everyone was talking about the 2 Sugas scene with the gun and the bathtub when i kept seeing "theyre in the same room" comments 😭 then i clicked play and felt so extremely dumb. i think your old way of doing things was fine. lol if you wanna "do better" for people complaining, maybe watch the video 2x? once for the visuals and the other time for the lyrics. maybe that way yall can enjoy both while still being able to watch the whole way through with no pauses. plus itll onlybe 6-7 minutes depensing on how long the video is.
Hey. ❤ Loved this set up, I can see you guys together. Happy Thanksgiving. My rap bias is Suga, and I betvyou know by now, that this comes in 3, first was Daechwita, second Haeguem, and last is Amygdala. 😊
“Amígdala” quizá no es lo que esperáis. Es Yoongui explicando por qué surgió su alter ego Agust D (la cicatriz) como una vía de escape para expresarse y canalizar el dolor y frustración que sintió durante esos años…
I am so sorry but I have never seen anyone misinterpret something more in my life. the point is that capitalism is bad and leads to misinformation and corruption

Yes!! This the best explanation of the song I have ever come across! Thank you!

Que bien que estéis juntos! Gracias por el esfuerzo se notó mucho interés en entender el mv tanto letra como imágenes! Y entiendo que como decís no es fácil y a veces estaréis cansados…
woaaah, altogether now! nice!
Hahaha no pressure. I think last time I just commented on be aware it's a trilogy so there is a connection in some things.... but honestly it's not easy. You noticed the scar, the duality, maybe missed the internal struggle 😂 Just read the comments and people will probably spell it all out!! 😂 But this song is a bit of a different beast.

I wouldn’t worry too much, in my opinion sometimes you have to watch it multiple times to fully grasp it. I think a lot of army really want their music and lyrics to be taken seriously and understood because it’s a big reason why they are a stand out act. But for now just take it for what it is and enjoy yourselves! New music is supposed to be fun!
I really enjoy watching your reactions! And I am so happy to see you getting an overall glow up, love the new space/studio! Much love from Bosnia💜
I love when the guy's write lyrics to bring in their culture. And outsiders then have to look up
What the words or things mean And make it relevant to our situation, there's always common ground. He's portraying society that is holding them in from expressing themselves.
With the one character and with the other, he's fighting for freedom so that he can express himself and do what he wants.
In the D-Day album unboxing video, Suga stated clearly that he knows his intentions for each song and basically gave short synopsis of how he felt as he wrote each song. He is so generous of a lyricist and with his music to his listeners!!!
But, given the second meaning of hageum is the lifting of a ban on something forbidden, this is what the focus of the song is. There is Run BTS video of RM and Suga talking about the middle school "hageum" game where you would try to get those to say forbidden words! Then you look at how there is a "tsunami of (useless) information" available that enslaves you to the internet, to capitalism, to flexing, and how this frames your every thought and action!!! So is being free by lifting the ban "the internet" has on your mind and you believe you are freely thinking for yourself (the forbidden)? Because what you think you believe is out of the norm and is the truth! But does your truth infringe on some one else's freedom? This song is so philosophical and deep!!!!!
Get your tissue out for part 3, Amygdala!!!! It is his true story, shown in flashes in his amygdala, about all his hardships, struggles with mental health (including his 2012 suicide attempt) and the traumas in his life (focusing on his accident in 2012 that almost ended his career before BTS even debuted! This is a heartbreakingly beautiful song and MV!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Evan just watch the video!!!! We know you can't keep up 😂😂😂
Woahhhh you guys live in person? Kind of weird since I’m not used to it but I like it!
i was reading comments before pressing play (dont judge me) and i thought everyone was talking about the 2 Sugas scene with the gun and the bathtub when i kept seeing "theyre in the same room" comments 😭 then i clicked play and felt so extremely dumb. i think your old way of doing things was fine. lol if you wanna "do better" for people complaining, maybe watch the video 2x? once for the visuals and the other time for the lyrics. maybe that way yall can enjoy both while still being able to watch the whole way through with no pauses. plus itll onlybe 6-7 minutes depensing on how long the video is.
Es Yoongui explicando por qué surgió su alter ego Agust D (la cicatriz) como una vía de escape para expresarse y canalizar el dolor y frustración que sintió durante esos años…
can you please react to the dance practice of Haegeum 💜💜💜
Well.... you'll be surprised by the 3rd... but no spoilers!
Wow, together in person this is epic! Did you look up what kind of an instrument haegeum is?
Watch amygdala Music video you guys.
Remove all expectations for the third, it’ll be better that way I promise lol
I was worried when Jake misinterpreted the big man at the top (the oppressor) with all the money running the show as a detective.
