I did a carnivore challenge Jan 2024 to jump start weightloss. My BP had been spiking as well and I knew keto/carnivore could bring it down. Id just built out my garden with 5 tall raised beds a few months before so my husband thought I was crazy. LOL. Ive lost about 45 lbs with 40 more to go. I made a deal with myself that "if I grow it, I can eat it." So thats why I still have strawberry plants, fruit trees, blackberry plants, etc. I figure eating some fruit during the brief harvest season is better than constantly eating sugar or eating a steady stream of fruit from the grocery store.

I admire everyone who can do this and stay with it. I grew up eating bread every day. Potatoes, rice or pasta was a component of our dinner everyday. I was healthy and skinny all of my life until I moved from Germany to the U.S. Within 4 years I gained over 50 lbs and with that I got some health issues. I can tell it’s the food (ingredients) that’s sold here and my lack of walking. Here you can’t walk to the stores like I used to without fearing to get run over. No sidewalks!?! You’ve got to take the car to get to the store safe. Isn’t that crazy? I now cook 99% from scratch, read the ingredient labels carefully, make my own pasta, grow a lot of veggies, mill my own flour, bake my own bread and I lost a lot of weight. I’ve got to work on exercising though. 😊

In 1973 we had an exchange student from Germany. We were 16/17 and healthy. She lived with a family of 6 was amazed at the amount of food they ate. Huge steaks which she said would feed 3 people back home. About 3 months after she returned home she sent me a letter with a photo of her 30 pounds lighter! She returned to California after a year and looked fantastic. We eat too many processed foods in the US with too many chemicals

I love how you said no refined carbs... carrots are higher...but i still eat them here and there! Keep it up! My husband had bad heart burn and that is gone too! I do miss bread and snacks sometimes, but like you soda you do get used to it after that initial few weeks of feeling g sorry for yourself for not being sober to eat what you want haha you look younger too!!!! For anyone with nut allergies, I went gluten free a few years ago and substituted oats for bread crumbs until I realized I was reacting to oats. These days I toss in dehydrated carrots and onion flakes and use all the dried spices. Could also do dried mushrooms. My understanding is that the point is to soak up the liquid and help hold everything together...... which at least in baking stuff almond flour doesn't do. If anything it gives off some fat which does the opposite on the moisture.

When my husband and I were eating Keto I would put ground pork rinds in to replace the bread crumbs and it was great. My husband doesn't like pork rinds so I made sure not to tell him until after we had eaten it. He said he wouldn't have guessed that is what I used and he now prefers I make it that way instead of using bread crumbs.

I just made meatloaf last night. I used my freeze dried bell peppers, freeze dried onions, freeze dried garlic. Plus our home grown canned green beans & corn I cut off the cob & canned. Great video! I've freeze dried organ meat and vegetable greens and powdered it to add to meatloaf, meatballs, casseroles etc for the health benefits. (My husband is not a vegetable lover) I also encapsulated it for myself to take every day. I do the same with beets, turmeric and ginger for blood pressure and cholesterol control. And yes, I grow my own vegetables as much as I can. Blessings to you and the family. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

My husband has been eating strictly carnivore for the last 100 days today. Kudos to you, Rachel, for joining Todd for the support! I couldn't do it. I have been thinking about joining him lately though. He won't even taste anything I cook if it has veggies, sugar or carbs in it. His "why" is for health reasons. He has diabetes and has always had a hard time controlling his blood sugar. He hopes to reverse it with this diet. His sugar is starting to come down and he seems to really enjoy the diet now, except for the times that I have something he really likes and he will take a good whiff of whatever it is. 😂 I am also diabetic but my sugar is well controlled on Mounjaro shots. I did lose 55 pounds on the shots but now the shot is not working for weight loss and I've started to gain a few pounds (about 15) because I'm not able to lose weight on diet alone. Well, I tried strict keto for about two years and only lost about 20 pounds. The only recipe that I have to cook him something is a quiche without the crust. It is sooo good! Keep up the good work and for encouraging me to join the hubster! ❤

I have gone mostly carnivore myself. I used to love raw spinach salads and almonds. I've learned that raw salads & veggies give me horrible gas. And spinach and almonds gave me kidney stones from all of the oxalates. I feel so much better when I just eat meat and eggs. I do eat berries occasionally.

I gave up carbs other than low-carb veggies two years ago and have been full carnivore for 11 months, all to get some histamine issues under control as well as T2 Diabetes. I have had so many things that have healed and improved as well as 110 lbs of weight lost. I researched the carnvinore diet for 6 months before I was ready to take the plunge. I am still very limited in my eating but am so very happy and healthy! Even gave up my 2500 sq ft garden and canning due to my histamine issues. You may want to try a month of being dairy-free. I discovered that even a tablespoon of heavy cream will cause joint pain and inflammation. Feeling great is so much better than any foods I miss, but someday I hope to add back in some other foods. Glad you found something that has helped you to feel better!!

***30-60-90 is the rule when starting carnivore 30 days, if you make it go to 60 and so on.... Only products from an animal nose to tail. Be careful with any seasonings because they will contain sugars. Also, being an avid canner this WOE is a bummer because you pretty much rule out 90% of what you can. My goal is to be ketovore consuming mostly meat and animal fat plus a few veg and avocado.

I had noticed the change in Rachel immediately in this video before you mentioned it, and happy this is working for you. I've been keto/carnivore for a few years now. I definitely feel crummy (mostly joint aches) when eating the inflammatory foods now. Most times I feel worse just having the littlest bit of carbs from from fruit, vegetables, or almond flour baked goods. I love meat loaf and make it once a week in the colder months. I use a combination of grated parmesan/romano cheese and pork panko instead of almond flour.

Slowly wea re eating better. I grew a huge garden and preserved a lot. If you don't have sweets in house, no temptation. Do enjoy fruit though, it doesnt replace chocolate but it's so good for us.

For a low carb meatloaf or meatballs I use zucchini flour instead of bread crumbs. When I’m overloaded with zucchini from the garden I shred it and put it in the freezer until the winter months. I take it out let thaw, squeeze out the excess water and put it in the freeze dryer. When it’s done I powder it in my blender.

Thank You for sharing your journey. I have been carnivore since Jan 6, 2024 and have lost 66 pounds. The most important benefit though is I had severe pain from Rheumatoid Arthritis, high cholesterol, acid reflux and hypothyroidism. I took a biologic injection for RA and other meds for all the other ailments that have since healed. I am off all of my medication and the pain is gone. It has been amazing. In addition my blood pressure is now 116/66! Had not been that low in May years. I just turned 62 this week. I have been strict carnivore only using animal products. Bacon and eggs for breakfast and steak every night for supper. AMAZING. I NEVER GET TORED OF STEAK AND BACON.

I did weight watchers many years ago and Loved it, it taught me that you can eat anything but in moderation and many small meals a day to keep your motor going and burning those carbs and calories. I love my shredded carrots and zucchini and diced tomatoes along with lots of onion in my meat loaf, shredded cheese would be good in it also. I would have to have green beans on the side at least or asparagus also would be a good side with it something besides just the meat. Todd take turmeric with the curcumin and peperino, it helps with inflammation, plus many other natural ways to go about it, I understand back pain from a horrible car accident it left me with really bad back problems and I go to pain clinic for injections in my sciatica joint because it is really bad as well as a bulging disc in my upper back so it really sucks, I've also been looking into wild lettuce as a natural pain reliever. I think the book is called Backyard Medicine.

I often go for a week after eating all my bread before I make another loaf of bread. I'm not much of a bread person, and if I eat carbs in the form of flour, I often make sourdough quickbread or sourdough soft tacos. That seems to do it for me. I have very little craving for sugar, and if I make something baked, I usually put 50-60% of the sugar called for in the recipe, not out of being an ascetic, but literally because it doesn't taste good to me with the amount of sugar called for. I guess your taste really does change! I love fresh veggies and fruit, so probably wouldn't do well on an all-meat diet, but I do really like meat, too. Just not all the sugary, processed food.🌻🥀

We are both on the cusp of our 40s and have some things that we want to get a grip on right now, and I in particular have become very educated about oxalates, so we’ve fully shifted to plants ONLY as medicine and not as part of our diet unless as a rare outlier. Almond flour has a SHOCKING amount of oxalate in it … 😮

Reversed insuline recistence for the most. Sleep improved too! Nothing tastes as good as a healthy body! Now all my carb veggies sit in jars, unused in my pantry..😢 Oh well….

Congratulations to you two!! I always said I would die without carbs, but I would love to give a carnivore diet a try. I have back problems also and arthritis in my hands. I think I may start some research.😀

We use the carb smart tortillas shells for thin pizza crust, not bad.

Dinner looked amazing! Dark greens are so good for you would you be opposed to dark green veggie salads with your dinner with just various oil and vinegar dressings? I have wanted to let go of white foods (rice, flour, sugar) for years, its so hard if only one of you do it. Nice job guys!

Pork rinds are zero carb and can be used in place of tortilla chips, potato chips, or even crushed and use as a breading

You can also exchange bread crumbs with blended pork rinds.

Todd and Rachel, if you've never tried it, you can make lasagna by replacing the noodles with sliced turkey breast (you won't taste the turkey at all). I just pulled one out of the oven a few minutes ago. My husband and son love it more than they do the regular way. Our son calls it "Delicious Meat Dish".😁

LOL so funny to hear you say about being angry that you 'cant' have the food you loved anymore - i totally got the same thing but boy do i ever feel grateful that I stuck with it .. I have just been on a month long cruise and despiite all the temptation it was really easy to not overindulge in the wrong things. I did gain a couple of kilos back because HEY that Black Forest Gateau was DELICIOUS!!!! But back to normal now and enjoying normality :) xxx

My style is the same as yours 👍 I can’t stand all the fancy, and instruction right down to ‘I’m washing my hands, - you’ll need to remove the plastic ‘ 🫤🥴… like WHAT? 😂🥴 The younger ones watch too many cooking shows I think and it’s just funny. I don’t do fancy,, I grow my gardens and cook everything from scratch, and I just aim to fill bellies. ♥️. Love your channel because you’re so laid back and natural ♥️

I was Keto for a while, it is very difficult cooking 2 separate meals each day when you are away from the house for 10 hours a day. I will tell you, Pork Rinds makes an amazing breading on fried chicken. :-)

I don’t know if you’d tried pork rinds in the meatloaf?
I usually add grounded pork rinds to my meat loaf I think it gives it softer texture and more of a moist meatloaf.

My husband just shot a turkey and a deer, and were getting a cow. I did carnivore for 5onths a couple years ago and felt amazing, it's just a little difficult. Feeding a family of 8 makes lowcarb a little tricky. But I definitely do better if I just eat meat and a little veg when I'm hungry.
