He says so we kinda know what’s going on there, but he is not one to listen to anybody but his Doctor whom he trusts and over the last couple years I haven’t been able to get through to his head yet that there are other doctors out there that are just as trustworthy if not more but what are you gonna do. Wow! I sincerely hope that RFK, and more so- Dr. Jay Bhattacharya Have the time to see this video, and take action to change 'official' recommendations now broadcast by our MDs. Thank you so much!
Remember from childhood salt licks and salt pork as well as salt sucking on tablets in the summertime. As a young adult in the 80's feeling relief that I found out about the 'dangers' of salt before it was too late and getting my salt consumption 'under control' at under 1700mg/day. Now I'm taking two bp prescriptions daily and fighting prediabetes... Thanks for your work, Dr. Bikman!
I don’t pretend to understand most of what you are talking about, but I was wondering if drinking too much water along with salt restriction could dilute the electrolytes in the blood as wells other fluids in the body and cause some of the problems you are talking about. I’ve noticed a trend of people drinking lots of water (upwards of 100 oz) without thinking about the minerals needed to keep that water in the body and possibly even flushing minerals out of the system.
Absolutely! I have a very rare disease called Diabetes Insipidus or as we like to call it now, Arginine Vasopressin Deficiency. Arg Vasopressin is the hormone that tells your kidneys to hold onto sodium. I don't produce that hormone so without my replacement hormone, the kidneys would not hold onto sodium or water and I would wee myself to death basically. I have to balance carefully the amount of fluids I take in and the amount I wee out.
Geez of course it does, add water to anything and it dilutes it! only in America are we told to drink so much water! in Europe, they don't say to drink any more than 2 to 4 cups. not 3 or 4 quarts!

Fantastic lecture, thanks! Would love to know how someone with stage 4 kidney disease, high blood pressure and diabetes should approach the low salt recommendations.
Nil carbs means nil insulin. Eat salt, protein, animal fat. Dr Anthony Chaffee has seen his patients reverse kidney disease etc etc on carnivore diet. Also Dr Ken Berry is excellent resource for explaining all that.
Very fascinating lecture, as always. Within this intricate system, could it be a link that relates to hyperandrogenism or hair loss in women?. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Thanks Dr. Bikman. These feedback systems that work against blood pressure and fat cell breakdown are fascinating. It seems to suggest something unknown is going on.
Could you please explaine what could cause LOW blood pressure and dehydration in a lean person (LMHR) eating enough salt and drinking water (not much), not thirsty, peeing a lot and being dehydrated (dry skin)? Drinking more water results in peeing more and still being dehydrated with low BP. I like your detailed lectures and diving deep !!!
This sounds a lot like what I am experiencing. I have low ADH due to long term mold exposure. I’m trying to figure out how/why mold caused my chronic dehydration and how to fix it. Would love to hear Dr.Bikmans thoughts on this.

Thank you for this amazing video again, Ben. Is there any way you could delve deeper into losing weight with lipedema without ruining your hormones and metabolism? Most advice for lipedema women is to cut out carbs, but that is disasterous for hormonal balance. Would love another video on this!
I have lipedema, hypothyroid, menopause for 5 years, fibromyalgia and poor mental health. I've been trying to stick with fatty beef, salt and water paired with lifting weights, walking and biking. It's improving a lot. My whole body is changing. The lipedema areas are definitely slower to change than other areas but they are healing along with my memory and mental health. It's been about 8 months this time around.
Cutting out carbs, eating mainly ruminant animals with the associated fat is a great way to balance hormones. Does wonders for my pcos and lymphodema, skin health and weight. Also dramatically slowed my hair loss and other menopause symptoms.

Losing weight isn’t the point. Losing fat is the point. Muscle gain that comes on carnivore will mute weight loss. Don’t expect weight loss until your insulin comes down and you actually start making ketones. Get a ketone meter and track glucose and ketones. Be sure your meat is fatty enough. Chuck/ribeye/80-20 beef. Eat the fat and be healthy. Chicken is too lean except for the wings.
Ben, thanks for all you do. I was concerned, however that the hormone cascade you described starts when it is necessary to increase BP (rather than decresase). My pulse and BP are always low with resting HR below 50 and BP below 100/60. I have gained 15 lbs over few and have been unable to move the needle back down. Should I be concerned?
