    I coached boxing for years… she’s actually got pretty good technique. Steps at an angle with her jab keeps her back foot loaded (heel off the ground on ball of foot), hip rotation is good (not over-rotating leaning over her left knee), hands straight from and back to her chin, stays loose. A loose muscle is a smooth muscle. A smooth muscle is a fast muscle. Power comes from speed and technique… For her size she’s got it. (Ps… I like that Teep-Kick/Front kick. Once again, good reach and balance thrust that hip in the kick.)

      Can someone learn boxing from private lessons and monthly sparring? Or do I need to join a gym?

    • @darrelclouse8137
      @darrelclouse8137 2 роки тому +8

      @@jackjack4412 friend, it is best to find a genuine boxing fight coach who is very sound on the fundamentals, i.e., stance (don't stand square), elbows in, gloves up, snapping jab, pivoting on balls of feet, chin down, and many other FUNDAMENTALS. I would avoid all the fancy nonsense. If you can learn to (#1)protect yourself in a boxing ring and throw jabs, straight rights, and left hooks effectively and in a very relaxed manner, then you are blessed. I suggest finding a good coach who can focus on these things.

    • @bradypierron8736
      @bradypierron8736 2 роки тому +3

      @@jackjack4412 it depends on how you define “learn”. Boxing is something you’re always learning.
      You can absolutely learn technique from private lessons (a lot of them) and learn distance, timing, and how to keep going with your bell rung through sparring.
      But boxing is the “sweet science” for a reason: it’s always evolving.
      (If you join a gym, the best places to start are either under actual proven pro’s in your area or boxing gyms in the hood (like it or not, the best place to get some gangster no-nonsense knowledge is right there).

      @@jackjack4412 one more thing my friend, if you tell me what city you live in, there is probably a good chance I can recommend a qualified coach to you. I live in Katy, Texas and know several good coaches in the Houston / Katy area as well as in Texas and several other states. Unless you have any experience, it is a good idea to get very good coaching consistently for at least a couple of months with very heavy emphasis on protecting yourself BEFORE starting ANY sparring. I'm happy to help.

      Been in more than a few street fights over the years. Kicking goes out the window when someone blows up in your face unexpectedly. The other thing is most people tend to lunge into their punches which collapses distance and tends to result in bodies clashing. Being on one leg isn't a good way to go. Solid base, good balance, strike and move.

    Slow it down to .25 speed and watch the punches she throws, and you’ll notice that she doesn’t just throw the jab, pull it back, then throw the cross. The punches cross each other midway. The jab is halfway back when the cross is halfway to the target. That’s the difference between just throwing a 1 and then a 2, and actually throwing a correct 1-2. I had to slow it down a bit to double check that. Legit 1-2 combo and not just two separate punches. And those long legs of her’s could be used for a nice headkick or calf kick off of that 1-2.

    I’ve been training jkd for the last year coming from boxing Muay Thai and various types of grappling etc, and there’s one concept that Bruce said that stuck with me is “punch when you need to punch and kick when you need to kick”. The 1-2 is very effective and I’ll stand by that but I also look for different ques like your wife did in the video if their at a certain range I’ll start with a kick I know is gonna make contact then initiate my combos etc if I know they’re coming at me usually I’ll wait until they get in my face that’s my line of no hesitation then I’m striking with as much speed and power as I can to end it as quickly as I can I feel there is no need to let yourself take damage when you can inflict damage if needed and put them out, great video I quickly found that finding the simplest yet most effective route to attack is better than spending too much time learning fancy and flashy moves.

      learn to punch properly, it will minimize these issues. Also understand that finger bones CAN break in fights, happens to boxers all the time. But when your adrenaline is up you'll hardly notice it, it won't stop you from being effective.

      Landed probably 100 punches (to the head) in street fights and broke only 2 metacarpal bones. Those aren't bad odds considering how much more effective closed fist strikes are than palm strikes.
      You can still fight with a broken hand, and you can certainly run. So DEFINITELY don't fall for the palm strike bullshit.

    Most importantly stay on your feet! Don’t roll around on the floor with em, someone will just join in and play football with your head. I’ve seen teenage girls knock out bouncers by just waltzing into the middle of a fight and having a punt at the doorman’s head while he’s sitting on his downed opponent.
