The reason it looks so easy for MAC is his resilience. He’s a tough SOB. Cool is being able crawl through crap and come out smelling like roses! Resilience is a function in the cool equation.
cant forget that it wasnt always this good, he went through a lot of hardships to get here. Hardships teach you what you dont want and if your wise you seek out a life that amplifies what you love. BUT YOU MUST ALWAYS BE VIGILANT!!! in not letting things creep back in, cheers brother
Being cool is quiet confidence...NOT believing in your own legend, always striving, staying humble and curious, and leaving others feeling great about themselves... thanks for being a GREAT example Pat!
One of the best pieces of advice I ever got was from a 3 tour Vietnam Vet. It's not what you say that an individual will remember. It's how what you said made them feel about themselves.
Self-confidence (knowing when to speak up and do or lead) and self awareness (knowing when to shut up and listen) "together" generally provides for a cool vibe.
My dad exuded coolness. He was a 27 year military veteran. Spent 7 tours of duty in Vietnam. Having worked for clandestine units during the war. Never ever talked about his career in the military, until a month before he passed away. One of few people I've ever known, who could say a thousand words, just with a look in his eyes. Physically tough with boundless energy, and mentally sharp at all times. Extremely high I.Q. with an uncanny ability to read people or their intentions, even during work, and a can-do attitude.
Sounds like you need to put the word out and correct the historical record, basic internet sleuthing states: "...the longest-serving American in the Vietnam War was Robert Lewis Howard, who started his first tour in 1965 with the 101st Airborne Division, and went on to serve with the Special Forces and Military Assistance Command Vietnam/Studies and Observation Group (MACV/SOG), doing a record five tours of duty and becoming one of the most decorated American service men...."
@@TheWences2000: I think my dad, who's passed away now, could truly care less about any records, plus I'm pretty sure the United States government, including the Department of Defense, would not be too happy about having to change their records or even to adjust them, as they were quite responsible for his health issues and subsequent death. But thank you for your concern, on his service.
Bringing out the strengths and good qualities of those around you, being a good steward of earth, being constructively honest and keeping your word are things people remember. Be the example!
I frigging love these videos. It’s like hanging out with your best friends dad, who’s also the coolest person you’ve ever met. I learn so much even as a 32 years young warrior.😎
100% correct. My teenage daughters still think I’m the coolest Dude on the planet, and their friends feel like the can trust me and joke around with me. That’s all I need…as long as my daughters still think I’m cool, I’m good.
I was laughing when my man mentioned “Fonz” cool! I bet half the people watching this thought “What the hell is Fonz cool?” Everyone who instantly understood the reference, is definitely long in the tooth! Lol! Pat, how do we find out about future land nav classes sir?
I was cool once. Trying hard to get back to being cool again. Got a monkey on my back that I just gotta buck. Gotta get my freedom back and it’s been 24hrs. Such a rough 24 hrs and the next won’t be any easier but, I think if I can make it to about day 4, it will be smooth sailing. This stuff helps. Thanks Pat.
I used to wear rainbow striped socks and make coffee with a French press when I was in the oil field. All the directional, and mud guys would make fun of it. Call me a f****t. 6 months later they all own french presses and wearing colorful socks. Lol. Men are funny creatures. Nailed it on the head. It's just about being positive and honest. Be you, but be professional.
There was a LOT more insight in this video versus say a more formal "Squad post". Thank you to both the ice pick and the ice berg, stay cool 😎 -a jellyfish
Now... that was cool. Just the conversation. Got me laughing several times. Not to mention the autonomic coffee production. One thing it also helped me understand - at times I stumble into coolness (rarely), but most of the time I'm bumbling around trying not to fall on my face thus inducing laughter from various onlookers in my life. Onward gents! Love that you are willing to help out us folks in need of much assistance in the acquisition of coolness. Although, according to your early-conversation specifications, coolness cannot be acquired. The coolness paradox continues to elude.
“What makes someone cool” Pat M: proceeds to describe all of his personal attributes Yeah- he’s is pretty damn cool though. Coolness is fearlessly being yourself, having a sense of humor, not being a douche and not giving a shit what other people think.
Obviously I don't know what I'm talking about, but it seems to me that while it's true that cool cannot be faked, or even learned, I still think that once a man stops trying to be cool and begins to focus on his duty as a man, that he begins to fulfill his "cool" potential. This is what you seemed to conclude also, around 3:52.
Cool is a gift, but It can be learned. It can be practiced . Note… you won’t be cool while you are learning or practicing. But coffee will always make you cooler.
Being a metal head is DEFINITELY a pre-requisite for being cool! Lol Obviously there are other attributes that you must posess as well. Like just being a good and kind human being. Rock on Mr. Mac!
A pre-requisite to being cool is not thinking you're cool. No one who is truly cool has ever said, "I'm cool." If you tell them they're cool, they will deny it to their dying breath.
Being cool. Confident, supportive of others, brewing coffee-flavored, not be an arrogant douchebag. I like the jetboil with the color changing thermometer on the side. Don’t have to keep as close of an eye on it. I get weird looks making coffee like that in the parking lot, but hey, shopette isn’t open that early and I want my coffee.
I'm a firm believer that the biggest part of what makes coffee help me be alert is the lava factor of is this going to melt my face as I attempt to take a sip
As far as I can tell, my kids (who are now adults 27 & 23) have treated me like I was the coolest mf'r on the face of the planet. That's all the validation I need.
Add this to the cool handbook: Pour your water over the grinds at about 195 degrees....or 30 sec or so after removing from heat when boiling. You'll get best extraction from the grounds. For french press....pour the water, STIR the slurry, then slightly depress. Wait 5 minutes. Pour all the coffee into a container and then pour in cup from there. Letting the grind continue to steep can over extract and not give premium product. BDS.
Love brewing a great cup of coffee, I'm working on quiet confidence, but alas I shall never be cool as I'm not metal. Hanging my head in shame. (But not really, because it's cool to walk your own road.)
I often see guys trying to ACT cool - not being genuine and doing what they think seems cool. But what they need to know is, if you're acting cool, it's because you are not. I'm not saying I'm cool. It's just best to be genuine.
Cool = Being able to keep your heart rate down while experiencing stressful situations (the product of "stress inoculation") and thus not elevating your body temperature. Positivism = force multiplier
Cool. My cousins planted the seed of metal in me in 1981-82ish. I was barely 10 y.o. Makes me wonder if there is a measurement of cool or coolness?;So, I'm a bit cool, but man the fight on not being a poser in those days is a discussion in and of itself although it might be ancient history! I'll stop now because if I comment too much I don't want to go uncool! Thanks Pat.
Hi Pat Mac We love your content. We were curious what kind of coffee press you use!? We currently use stainless steel Mira Press but would like other recommendations. Thanks!!
I would add “intelligent without being condescending or nerdy” into that equation. Nobody likes talking to a dummy either. Enjoying Invader Coffee’s TMACS blend right now. 👍
I think you can learn to be cool. I have met some people who in a different life were douche bags but then they went through some life experiences, got humbled, learned some shit and are now cool. Or at least cooler than they used to be.

In South Texas today, the air temperature is 111 degrees, and the asphalt is hot enough to do your cooking on the ground. I see you have a jacket on! Not here!
Do you only drink a certain amount of coffee/killcliff per day or week? How much does it effect your caloric I take? Do you just do a little more exercise if you want another drink?

Being cool or good with girls or successful is all a mentality. No one I know who's cool is desperate to be. No one I know who has a girl really needs one. And no one I know who's successful ever did so by saying "I'll never be successful.".
