To me, this is when the no-makeup KISS had the most swagger - Gene in particular. Domino and Unholy are great songs...I wore out my cassette of Revenge.
There's no "sort of" about it. Just listen to AC/DC's Girl's Got Rhythm, High Voltage, Live Wire ... and there are plenty of others with the same kind of guitar riff rhythmic patterns even though the kick drum isn't on all 4 beats. As for the intro - it speaks more of For Those About to Rock than it does La Grange.
I'm with you. I think the "unmasked" era was when they were able to open up the song writing a little wider and explore songs that didn't fit the makeup Kiss mold.
not money wise, they made alot more money when they put the make up on. their touring numbers were so high, sold out every show for the next 2 years and psycho circus was a huge hit as far as radio and money
HISTORY WILL SHOW : - HILARIOUS this Band was always JUST Behind Trends in Music , they chased every Music Trend that came through even GRUNGE , in the end they became a Tribute Band of what came before.
This song would have been a perfect fit for that KISS Immortals cartoon video since they had a female villain named Domino. But overall, this is a kick ass song from the "Revenge" album.
The part where gene was next to another car that he thought had a young girl in it and it turned out to be some ugly broad gets me laughing and grossly out cause, A it was funny and her gross teeth just grossed me out

Greatest KISS formation besides the Original!! Bruce Kulick did an incredible Job in the Band and gave them all the musical improvement and projection they needed, KISS was very solid in the 90's and sounded awesome in their non-make up Era thanks to Eric and mainly Bruce
I bought "Revenge" the week it was released and listened to nothing but that album for four months. It's still my favorite tour from the band - Paul's live charisma was unsurpassed, and the band was really confident in themselves as a rock band. However, don't be too quick to sell short the "Creatures" through "Asylum" part of that era. Those albums are equally impressive, as are the very uncharacteristic and underrated "Carnival of Souls" and their latest, "Sonic Boom."
I have been listening to Kiss so long. And there is something that are always cool regardless of era. Ace was my favorite member for years, and for good reason. But Gene is still sounding great. He has just gotten better and better over time. His bass playing, vocals. His range has definitely increased. And his cool factor is off the charts. He songwriting, arrangements. And the hooks. And his ego of course, but so what. When your a hard rock living legend, you just flaunt. Let your ego blow up as big as your record sales. I like every one of his sons. Every single one.
I agree about Ace Frehley. He’s my all time favorite member of KISS. Gene is actually my least favorite. His ego and holier than thou attitude makes him an ass. He’s always bragging about how he’s never drank alcohol or taken drugs. Well, good for him. The majority of bands and solo artists have either drank, used drugs or both. It’s part of the music business. I’m happy that Ace hasn’t drank in years. Paul has admitted that he hung out with Ace during their very early years and would drink wine. It’s so accessible in the music business. Even managers of bands have taken drugs. I understand it’s not healthy and music artists have died from alcohol and drugs. I guess the fact that Gene pats himself on the back about not ever doing either one is an ego thing. It’s his personality that comes across that he’s better than everyone else. I still love watching the interview the band had with Tom Snyder back in the late 70’s. They were wearing their Dynasty outfits. I guess it was around 1979. Obviously, Ace was drunk. Tom was told that Ace would probably not talk much. You could tell Gene wasn’t happy because Ace stole the show. He and Peter were cracking up. Even Paul laughed a few times. Gene just kept looking at the camera and say, “Hi Mom.”
Gene is my favourite these days, he in his old age ( always really) has no problem laughing at himself, he has always had a great sense of humour and any hardcore kiss fan knows the whole arrogant ego maniac act is just that , a act ! He is a huge teddy bear, a massive softy who does so much work for charities for kids and animals and Veterans and keeps it quiet I know of him going to random Kids Hospitals on tour and finding a sick kid and paying for there treatment, or just going in a chatting to troops on his days off The whole " arrogant business man " thing just became his act outside of the make up Now Paul I can't stand these days , he is so stuck up his own ass and incapable of laughing at himself, he is ( well documented) one of the most sensitive people on the planet!
Well I can understand Paul's feelings. He doesn't have a masculine persona. Always looked like his sexuality was in question. If you hear this all your life, it does stick with you.
As much as Gene can get on all of our nerves, this song and this album was the very best of Gene in the unmasked years and the songs really hold up over time:) (Gene sipping on a fountain drink included at no extra charge)
Mark Boyd ha! I remember thinking when this video came out that the sipping soda from a straw scene really undercuts the macho, cruising-for-chicks vibe. Ha! But that's Gene for ya! And I'm sure he couldn't have cared less how it looked!
