This is quite honestly one of the best things Kiss has ever produced. The whole video is brilliant, the song rocks and is catchy, and the band gives a great performance.

Freddie was a natural prolific star since being a frontman in a hugely success band Eric sadly didn’t quite get that attention despite of his drumming skills but he wasn’t in the heyday like Peter and Ace (even them weren’t so prolific during their solo careers) , what disappointed Gene and Paul that Eric didn’t really received any form of acknowledgement, after his death As Gene had stated “his death was unfair, he was a good guy, inside and outside, not pleasant, nice or charming.»

This video was marketed on MTV for about 2 weeks before it was first played. You know, "don't miss Kiss' new video playing here first next Saturday", or something like that. However this time, no mention of "no costume." None of us Kiss fans were expecting it. I remember me and about 10 of my friends hanging out in the basement just to see the new video, and I had MTV in stereo back then, so all my friends were at my place. Although looking at the video now, we should have known something was different when the whole first stanza of the song did not show any of them above the waist... Then the camera panned up, and what a reaction out of all of us. After years of expecting it to "happen on the next album," we were not expecting anything. Yes Kiss, you definitely surprised us! Not just with a great new song, but with a great new look! Wow, those were the days!

I'm a huge KISS fan. This was their reveal to the world after 10 years of makeup and success. They're lucky this didn't sink their non-makeup aspirations. What they had going for them was a built in fan base, the fact that every bigger hair or metal band at the time cited them as their inspiration, this first video without makeup was cheesy, but normal at the time, and the tune isn't half bad.

Everything about this is perfect. The riff, the lyrics (yes), the video (yes). I just don´t get it that people do not understand that KISS IS SUPPOSED TO BE CHEESY. Kiss is made of cheesy lyrics, music, videos, faceprint, toys, tons of women half-naked and men acting like they are God-like Love-Guns. Kiss is just like a perfect b- movie: it is what it is but man it is FUN and it ROCKS even the dead dance to this freaking riff ! This is why Kiss is actually a legend, a true rock and roll icon, and totally belongs to the R&R hall of fame.
This is such a beautiful piece of art! The complexity of the composition with all the time signature changes, syncopated rhythms, and virtuoso musicianship...combined with lyrics that tell a story of love lost, love regained and ultimately the licking it up. What is "it" that needs licking? Philosophers and musical historians will be debating this subject for centuries. These young gentlemen were the great bards of their generation...when I think of the greatest musical compositions of all time, I have to put Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 at number 1, then Beethoven's 5th Symphony in C Minor at 2, and a close third would be Lick it Up by Kiss!

Kiss are amazing. Massive in the 70s, then came back in the 80s just in time for the 80s metal explosion and had another decade added to their career. The Creatures, Lick It Up, Animalize years were their best, IMO.

This was the video where Kiss first "unmasked." After years of speculation, rumors and talk of performing without the costumes, it finally happened. This video was marketed on MTV for about 2 weeks before it was first played. You know, "don't miss Kiss' new video playing here first next Saturday", or something like that. However this time, no mention of "no costume." None of us Kiss fans were expecting it. I remember me and about 10 of my friends hanging out in the basement just to see the new video, and I had MTV in stereo back then, so all my friends were at my place. Although looking at the video now, we should have known something was different when the whole first stanza of the song did not show any of them above the waist... Then the camera panned up, and what a reaction out of all of us. After years of expecting it to "happen on the next album," we were not expecting anything. Yes Kiss, you definitely surprised us! Not just with a great new song, but with a great new look! Wow, those were the days!

I'm a huge KISS fan. This was their reveal to the world after 10 years of makeup and success. They're lucky this didn't sink their non-makeup aspirations. What they had going for them was a built in fan base, the fact that every bigger hair or metal band at the time cited them as their inspiration, this first video without makeup was cheesy, but normal at the time, and the tune isn't half bad.
