Thanks.I got loads of stuff after upgrading my computer.Everything seems to be on sale but it is thanks to you that my love for music itself gets a constant revitalisation. Cheers
This is brilliant, mate. I keep wanting to switch to MODO Bass as my go-to and have always been interested in MODO Drum but so many reviewers have deemed the latter "below par". It's really not at all. I think you just have to peel all the effects away and the kits sound amazing. This affirms my interest in both plugins, which I purchased (got them for free, really) in an IKM Group Buy a few years back. Anyway, thanks so much for this!
I've seen all manner of drum software over the years, and the last time I sat up and was impressed was when BFD first came out in 2004/5. However this MODO DRUM is the most exciting development I have ever seen in this area. In the right hands this is a game changer.
Thank you for demonstrating some of the editing capabilities, which appear to be the main draw of MODO Drum. I'm going check out the demo this weekend. Only omission seems to be no groove edit within the plugin for those of use who like groove editors/step sequencers. Good tutorial.
IK Multimedia software is a real bitch to install if you're not using your C drive. Their customer support is also crap. I'm glad this works for someone
well the content (samples) can be placed on any drive, the apps themselves aren't huge & i only have a 256gb ssd. I've got T-RackS suite (with ALL plugins), Amplitube 4, Amplitube 5 (with all content), MODO bass & MODO drums, Miroslav Philharmonic 2, Mixbox, Fame, studio reverb, Sunset sounds studio reverb, Sampletank4 with all orchestral content, the Joe Chiccarelli vocal plugin & Comprexxor all installed, plus plenty of other apps (logic, gb, ps, etc etc) and i've got 99gb free - i use Cleanmymac to keep the drive uncluttered, a recommended app but dont buy it direct, get it on the app store or you get ripped off. 👍
I have used SD2 and EZD2 and was not happy or comfy with either but this sounds really great. i don't produce using acoustic drum sounds any more but if and when I return to them this will be the way i go.
How do I make a long bass note a control note? if you've covered this already I've lost the bubble on which video covers it. Many thanks for your tutorials.
@@dancetech Many thanks for your reply. Yep, i was referring to Modo Bass. I don't have Modo Bass software yet so I'm following along with Modo Drum SE and Logic instruments.
Thanks for the video. I love MODO BASS because I can find a good sound very fast or tweak for a while for something unique. Now I wonder is MODO DRUMS as good if I'm not a drummer? I mean I'm okay with finger drumming but is it fine with using/adjusting the loops that are coming with it? (I'm just thinking it would be nice if MODO BASS would have some famous bass loops.)
Well I have a look but I use logic tings. I also have to say the video or the voice have become pretty quiet. I have to pull volume up for this and down for the next video so have a look
Well, IK is having their 25 for 1 group buy, and this is on my hit list, IF I bite. I've invested in Addictive Drums, but am looking for something different. Doesn't sound too bad. How does it hit the CPU? I've got my M1 Mini w/16 gb RAM up and running. It is amazing, btw. I'm sure you must've seen one by now. Thanks for the videos!
i thought cpu hit went UP in the first revision update, it;s juicier on the cpu than straight sample drums for sure but your mini should handle it fine 8 core isn't it? yeah tbh my old imac is starting to play up, it;s fanning up far too readily... needs ripping apart & cleaning internally & then another 8gb ram adding to take it to 16gb, or I need something newer/faster like your m1 mini 👍
@@dancetech what year is your iMac? Mine is a late 2015 27" i7, 4ghz, 32 gb RAM. The Mini kills it, and it ran projects that gave me overload messages on the iMac with ease. Quite amazing, really, but once you add RAM and storage and Applecare, my Mini rig came to €1608. Not exactly cheap, but the aforementioned iMac cost €3,350. I bought my wife the basic model so it was convenient to try Logic on it. Even the 8 gb model could handle projects that choked my iMac, but I suspect there was a fair share of swapping. So, for the cost of my last iMac, I got 2 Minis, 2 new 4k LG monitors and 2 Applecares for a bit less than my iMac, which I'm now going to try to sell. I have to upgrade Kontakt 5 to 6, and I'll have everything running that was on my iMac. Cheers.
I have got 4 drums already in my template, SSD5, MTpower, Ugritone NA and LABS, which I mix and match, SSD5 is ultra tweakable, but I was wondering about the hit on resources MODO has, being a different kind of engine? I see the library is much smaller footprint, but how do system resources compare to a sample based drum program? I am using Reaper on a 2009 MBP.
I can't say about CPU usage cause I never need to monitor that but MODO Drum seems to use around 1.1GB of RAM so if you have 8GB that's quite a big portion of that already.
I know modo has the Djent kit, but can it pull off really tight, small room metal with pretty much no processing? Ringy snare, smaller toms etc? Something for fast beats. Surprised there's not much metal content for Mododrum. Us metalheads are poor or something lol :) Cheers man
Unless you get into the routing procedures in this video, it's tricky to get a dryer sound right within the VST. That's my only criticism of this software.
I purchased Modo Bass and now Modo Drums because of your tutorials and couldn't be happier. Thanks for your great videos on reggae music production!

Thanks for the demo. I agree, love how raw and up-front this kit in particular sounds.
Love my MODO Drum and MODO Bass. Dancetech for my reggae tutorials. My home studio is coming along. Keep doing what you're doing. One love!
Man I love the sound of these drums. I went and got modo drums because of your videos. And regret nothing.

The best demo so far
I really appreciate your MODO Drum videos. I love Modo Bass but was unconvinced by the IK demos of Modo Drum. Your examples sound great!

Sounds much better dry/raw as you show. I found the other demos of Modo too processed.

Can u make a video showing if we get good ghost notes for the snare?
So Raw

modo DRUM doesn't use control notes, do you mean modo BASS? if yes, the control notes are all listed on the software
@@dancetech Many thanks for your reply. Yep, i was referring to Modo Bass. I don't have Modo Bass software yet so I'm following along with Modo Drum SE and Logic instruments.

well you can drag the drum patterns on to the MODO DRUM track in your DAW & then edit the notes to taste.
@@dancetech I'm very tempted :D
isnt there a demo?

Zero volume problems for me.
@@patkelly3966 Oh well he got the word. Perhaps there is some very loud drum parts that rules the overall.
It always needs processing and adjustments

I just noticed this is currently $99.99 USD on crossgrade for owners of MODO Bass. Bargain. Scooped it up quick.
that's a great deal!
