    Just stumbled on the IK drums. They actually do sound realistic over my speakers. Great job suggesting tweakage of some features of the software. Thanks.

    Thanks very much - I downloaded MD a few weeks ago, but the one free kit drum sounds were too raw. But your tips helped me to articulate the kit and make it behave or unleash at my preference or passage of a song. I have MT Power, SSD 5 free, SI Drums and the grooves and fills are way more versatile and you can customize amazing drums with more variations closer to your original ideas, in less time. As a handicapped drummer, I lost music for 6 years and a friend beat me up into getting Cakewalk. It has changed my life, and I'm pretty addicted to making music again. This will be another great tool, and worth buying the $149 full version Cheers!!

    I use Addictive Drums 2 and Modo Drums. They complement each other wonderfully.MODO is beautifully real.

    Adjusting the room and overheads is soooooo much faster using the mixer view - select the "OH / Room" button on the Master fader and the two aux sends switch to overhead and room sends. Then you can adjust each track from one screen.
    I totally agree about the FX and sends being used fairly heavy by default - I lean towards separate outs and I will add my own FX later - However, sometimes I turn them off and think wow... this really sucks... the overhead bleed is really necessary for that snare sound I liked - Sometimes I think I just want to add my own FX for vanity reasons. I guess I like to over complicate things sometimes... most of the time.... sometimes...?
    Cheers -

      Good point! I think I keep going to the edit view as I often make small other adjustments to the strike zone, depth etc. But yes, easier from the sends on the console. And yes, I'm the same. I'm used to recording drums in the studio, dry, no effects aside from a little compression / slight EQ here and there. And when I use Modo, I tried to switch all the effects off and realised it would be an uphill battle. I think it is part of the sound of the software. it combines the modelling algorithms with a few samples, effects and rooms / reverb to create a killer sound. In this case I think it is better to take it "as is"

      Im really confused. Is 1.5 a free upgrade or do I have to pay for it, even though I already have 1.1.3?

    • @akagerhard
      @akagerhard 2 роки тому

      @@pablobrad100 well you update it automatically with the product manager, but you can't use the new kits without purchasing that "update". So it's a paid update.

    Thanks for your clear explanation. It sounds like bringing up the velocity slider is adding another layer of extra (ghost) notes on the hi-hat that are not in the midi, is that correct? That's weird.

    • @40somethingdrummer26
      @40somethingdrummer26 4 роки тому +1

      Hey, thank you! Actually, no. it is the opposite. If you have played some ghost notes on your hihat which are barely audible, pushing the velocity knob will bring these levels right up and reduce the overall dynamic range. (a bit like a compressor / limiter would do). So, suddenly, all notes are "loud or louder". It does not add any notes though. I hope this clarifies...

    I heard somewhere that the vst has 7 buses in the mixer somewhere pre made but I can't seem to find them or the way to bring them up for the life of me.
    Can you give me directions to find them?
    Thank you.

    Secondary MIDI is weird.
    And, I DEFINITELY don't want the processing from their kit mixer.
    I also REALLY wish that we could have heard the Booth sound.

    This is very helpful, well-explained.
    This might not be your thing, but can Mododrum do convincing metal? I know there's the Djent preset, but can it handle more natural and tight drums? Something with no verbs, small room, ringy snare, that kinda thing? There's almost no metal demos on UA-cam.
    Peace and thx for the content!

      I'm afraid I don't play metal, thought I know what metal drums typically sound like.
      I remember going through a couple of metal type presets, very tight, compressed and cutting, and thought they sounded great. But again, I m not an expert in metal. There is a metal kit setup with the double kick and then you can tweak from there if you need. Hope it helps, and yes, would be good if someone did a metal demo.

      Many standard drums can be used for metal with some tuning and tweaking.
      Depends what you like.
      Some good fat oldschool drums can be great, where you just give the kick some high end tweak and attack.
      After trying Modo out, I could hear great potential for metal etc. too
