Thank you!! This reel came into our archive as part of a larger collection and we have been unable to identify it. I knew if I put it out here there would be someone who'd recognize it! I think we have only this one reel, but at least now I have something to go from! If I find we have more, I shall let you know!
Well if the American Film Institute kept their promise to preserve my nitrate 35mm print, the whole movie does exist save for the opening credits; the only portion missing. I ran the hour long movie just once on my Simplex Acme projector, which was equipped with fire trap rollers & magazines. The brittle shrunken film projected very nervously, but I watched the whole movie to the end, then donated this print to the AFI in 1985. I suggest you contact them. Perhaps they made a video transfer.
This is "Firebrand Jordan" (1930) starring Lane Chandler. The IMDB lists this one as "lost" but it is not included on the list of lost westerns on the Old Corral website and I've more faith in the latter as a reliable source of information. Still, don't think I've ever seen this one available anywhere before. . . do you have the whole film or just this one reel? where on earth did you get it? pretty cool to see this on here. It's definitely Firebrand.
