I was so baffled at how the Chimera ant arc ended like from this narcissistic king to a guy going on his knees and begging that he wants to see komugi and play before he dies

To defend the king is what the three royal guards shared in common but they did so from different approaches. Pouf did what he did for the king because of what he thought his king SHOULD be like. He was even the most in tune with the kings emotions and character dilemma. That's why he struggled so badly with the king becoming more and more human.
Another small detail... When Meruem tells Komugi his name, Komugi calls him "Meruem-sama". Meruem says the honorific "sama" is not needed, just "Meruem" will do, and Komugi refuses, stating that she's undeserving. As the king passes, his final wish is for Komugi to say his name one last time... "Goodnight, Meruem. I'll be joining you soon". This time without the honorific. It's already the emotional peak of the story, but that little detail elevates it even further.
The arc was amazing but because of how beautiful and lovely this end is with them I can think of nothing else about it.... I'm happy on the inside thinking of them but my face is just a phrase or two away from crying. The only other thing in my head right now that is at that level is hearing a dog talk in FMA.

Chimera ant arc is the GOAT arc of all animes, the MC slowly loosing his humanity and the villain slowly learning what is means to be human. It is beautifully poetic, and has the best character development. It was kind of my first anime and sometimes I wish I could watch it for the first time again.

This is probably one of the best anime arcs I have ever seen. Seeing Meruem and Komugi die made me feel so happy that they are together in their final moments doing what they desired, but it also made me so sad that they died. The bitterness of the sadness of them dying and the relief of the happiness of them finally being together in their final moments made me cry man. I was crying so much that I had to pause the anime and walk out of the room to remind myself that it's just an anime. Never had a TV SHOW impact my emotional state that hard in a long time. The last time I cried that hard was when I was watching Indigo League on the "Bye Bye Butterfree" episode when I was 7-years-old.
I liked how he wasn’t just a villain. (Well he was) he came out of the Queen and didn’t know anything about anything. So he did what he thought was right then he learned what it meant to protect someone or something. Then he became a benevolent king. He’s one of my favorite character development characters In anime.
Meruem learns kinship, a feeling of something precious to him. To some extent, everything is so far beneath him and so distant he can hardly discern one speck from another. She was the first any only thing in his life that he sees and loves.

I really didn't expect to like to like the arc or Meruem before going into it. Ended up being obe of my favourite arcs in all of anime, and my favourite HxH character and one of my favourite anime characters in general.
I love this arc so much but I think it was such an injustice that we really didn’t actually get to see Gon go in for a fight, we didn’t get to see King show off how truly strong he is in a full out battle. Just got to see all the extras fight a lot 😒😒😒.

I do respect this about him. That it's usually backed by careless murder isn't noble, but he does have the right instincts for the noble firmness of s king. It was a redeeming trait he had from early on, and slowly his nobility grew. By the end, he was perhaps ready to be what he was named to be, the king who could light the world, but by then, he was dead.

The Chimera Ant arc truly showcased humanity's horrifying capability and, no matter how tragic, the human heart (of Meruem) will cause their downfall.

To be honest, I watched a lot of long anime like One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, but this was the one scene that affected me the most and made me cry.
