Descendants of the conquered and the conquerors. This is how you live in harmony and not with hatred of the past. Love it!
Our teacher showed us this clip in highschool (2017) and I’ll never forget it. I can’t imagine the might of Māori warriors, hundreds, maybe even thousands strong, preforming this before battle, I’d turn right around!
Might of the Maori warriors? Dude a dozen British guys walked in and took the entire country away from them....
@@sameerbhatnagar9048using guns and firing from ships and high places, the same way Britain conquered every developing country. They couldn't win in might for sure if you think that's the case you're delusional 😂
Remaining technologically backward is how you get conquered. There is no more fighting with sticks and stones. Europeans made guns in the 1700s...
@youngspaghettii Not sure what your point is. The ships were not given to the Brits by some sort of aliens, they built it themselves. If anything, it shows the brute/raw strength is meaningless in battles, and that intellect is far more powerful and valuable
All that to die in a few seconds to a guy with a gun lmao😂

Why
@@kingslayer8121 because it’s centuries old warrior tradition. Would you rather the Maori and the Haka become victims of time?
@@DisDatK9 why is old more important than new
@@kingslayer8121 because traditions like haka prepares the body for battlefield it has a psychological effect to intimidate the opponent plus if you ever been to any martial classes the act of making these sounds tightens the core muscles and generally transfers the power from legs to upper body

What an awesome tradition! I didn't have a clue about the Maori and the Haka until this. Now that I understand more about where it comes from and who this tradition honors... that makes it even more awesome! Hopefully that tradition won't be politicized out of existence.
Us Kiwis respect the Haka way too much to let it get taken down by politics, it's an unspoken and unwritten rule of the Haka.
@Nikolai Orr hmmm I think that maybe not all kiwis accept maori culture and the haka. Next time the all blacks play. Just listen to the amount of people that sing the English version of the NZ national anthem vs singing it in maori .. beautiful haka regardless (fyi - not all "kiwis" accept maori culture. which would be better, if everyone did)
Have you heard the old version of the haka? It is better and more powerful then this one it sucks!

Regardless, a couple ten thousands Māori have little chance at beating millions of Europeans. Even if they someeeehow managed to defeat the Brits, French would have came next, Spanish etc. ALL Polynesians combined Barely number 1.5 million, let alone just Māori.
