I run my Clock compact with a full ash pan and at least an inch on top of it.I found I use less wood and I get a longer burn.Only time I empty the ash pan is to occasionally burn some smokeless coal.Otherwise an informative video
Hi Paul No not with the DEFRA stop fitted.I,ve banked it up with smokless coal late at night and the following morning the stove is still hot but needs relighting. Our lounge is 30ft by13ft and is still warm@@paulfairbairn1066
Just got one of these fitted and so far so good , I have two stoves now a wormwood foxfire and now a Blithfield five which is much bigger in comparison. I've had the foxfire 14 years with no problems so if this is as reliable I'll be delighted.
Using smokeless fuel, leave the primary control (the right knob) slightly open and use as the video. We recommend burning wood and wood products as coal, even smokeless coal will affect the life expectancy of the stove linings and your chimney flue. Hope that helps!

Great advice. Can you keep your compact going overnight with your technique?

Fan at the back, not front. It pushes the hot air forward.
Can you explain about smokeless fuel?
