    Lovely stove. We have just installed a PVR5 cylindrical panoramic stove. Beautiful.

      @@charltonandjenrick hi do you have a video on the correct operation of the FX 8 .I'm following your manual and struggle to get a good heat output. The wood I'm using is at 10 to 12 % hard wood. This video has given me a different approach..so I give it a go .

      @@paulsimpson2232 Hi Paul,
      The way the logs/firelighters are arranged will work for the FX8. Open the air control fully (top slider) and the bottom air control fully to start and leave the door ajar. Once the fire has started, close the door and control the heat with the bottom air control. Always leave the top slider open, as closing this might cause your glass to go black.

    Great video but it doesn't show when to move the leaver from ignite to auto. When would you expect to do this please?

      @charltonandjenrick  10 місяців тому +1

      A few minutes after the logs catch fire, when they are burning well.

    Can I retrofit a backbox to heat water? I'm guessing not but worth asking the question

    • @charltonandjenrick
      @charltonandjenrick  8 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for your question.
      As far as we know there isn’t anything available on the market that will do this as a retrofit for any current stoves.
      Unfortunately we don’t have a boiler stove to offer at the moment.

    Was hoping to get this but apparently it's to big so will have to have the PVB5, just a question about the baffle, when do i close it ? Or does the automatic do it's thing ?

    • @charltonandjenrick
      @charltonandjenrick  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Robert,
      When in automatic mode, the baffle opens automatically when you open the door, then closes when you close the door reducing the amount of smoke coming into the room and heat loss.
      Please see this video for a detailed explanation of how the Active Baffle works- ua-cam.com/video/7mmUPa9QWQg/v-deo.html
      Thanks

      @@charltonandjenrick Hello i have just put my fire on for the first time and my air control is opposite to that shown in the video, my air control opens on the right and to close it down towards the left. Is that a problem ? Also is there a temperature to reach to burn the soot off the glass ? or will i just have to clean it ? I think it sooted up because i closed the air control when lighting the fire because air control is the other way around. I have the PVB5.

    • @charltonandjenrick
      @charltonandjenrick  2 роки тому

      @@ratclifferob Hi Robert, If you open the airwash the glass should clear by itself in time although you could clean it as well. The air control goes both ways, depending on whether you are burning wood or coal, and this should be written on the metal control.

    • @ratclifferob
      @ratclifferob 2 роки тому

      @@charltonandjenrick Hello i have just figured out that i had to lift the air control over the marker to burn wood because it was set for coal. The glass is clearing slowly. Could you tell me what should be the maximum heat as all thermostats have different heat levels ? Thanks for the swift reply.

    • @charltonandjenrick
      @charltonandjenrick  2 роки тому +1

      @@ratclifferob Hi Rob,
      There is no maximum heat a stove should run at, there are too many factors it depends on.
      What we would say is there is normally a safe zone indicated on any flue thermometer so as a rough guide keep it in that range.
      Thanks

    What's the baffle for

    • @charltonandjenrick
      @charltonandjenrick  2 роки тому +1

      The active baffle opens up allowing the smoke to go up the chimney instead of the room when refuelling. it also opens up when starting to enable the stove to be started easier and quicker.

    Where are they made?

    • @charltonandjenrick
      @charltonandjenrick  3 місяці тому

      They are made in a Chinese factory that we own and operate, after being designed and tested here. This gives us the best combination of quality and value.
