We are light level mechanics at best
Tools required:
Socket set, floor jack, jack stands, hammers, plyers, probably about it
18,000 miles throughout Canada and Alaska, including a few thousand on gravel roads and wonderful places that I could never have gone without the clearance.
The lift kit was absolutely a necessity for our trip, and your video was a necessity for the kit installation!
Very well done and the best anywhere on the web!
Thanks guys!
Thanks! I would not have been able to install this kit (for a 2013 FWD) without watching your video (40 times). Took about a week from first jacking up to road test at about 6 hours per day.
Definitely the most difficult part was removing nuts on front end links. They were completely frozen and wouldn't respond to liquid wrench, WD40, heat or impact wrench. Finally had to slice the nuts with a cutting wheel on a Dremel (times 4). Also had problems when the front bearings slid out of the CV joint, but eventually found out how to slide back in.
In the end, all works well and pleased with the extra clearance. Now, on to Alaska.
I will PAY to have mine done. 😃😁😁
Update video? Are you glad that you did the conversion?
You two just made drop whatever idea I had with a 4X4 pickup truck (Tacoma) and going with an AWD Sienna.
This is so head shaking awesome. Thank you and I do mean sincerely thank you.
Having mine installed right now
Good overview. Pretty good gymnastic camera work. I appreciate the difficulty in trying to capture installation details underneath a vehicle. Nice job, and happy adventures!
Thanks!
Carmen and I have been devouring your woodworking/Sienna videos over the last 3 months 😀!
@@sandiegomitch That’s cool! Glad we can share tips this way.
@@sandiegomitch where are those "woodworking/Sienna" videos?
⭐ You're the Best !!! ⭐
This is really killer guys! Doing mine in a week and I can not say how useful this video is. Thanks!
Great work guys! My one advice, big tires equal big breaks, it’s been my experience over years of tuning and playing with cars and trucks. Rockauto’s got great deals on power stop vented disks, I have them in mine and they’re great! Again, awesome work, you’ve sold me on finally getting the journey lift kit.
Way too much work. And for what,?😕😕to alter a mini van. That's not made for this. Can be a danger too in a Collison💀💀💀💀💀
@@captainamericaamerica8090 These vans are way too low as it is, so it may save things such as the oil pan and smacking into curbs.
@@kookietherapy9398 it won't
Wow, that was INCREDIBLY helpful. Way to go, guys. Thank you!
Great video! I'll be using it as a reference when I install my kit. I will be ordering it soon (2012 AWD Sienna) and hope (no pressure) that you do more videos about your Sienna mods. Thanks!
Nice job!
Love minivans, and they DESERVE the road clearance!
Great Video and nice job You Two. I'm installing the same kit right now and appreciate your video. ***I noticed that your rear differential bushing is cracking. . . . Journeys Off Road offers a replacement polyurethane one for about $40. I'm going to inspect mine right now. -Cheers!
😮👀😮
if you are worry about rubs use a piece of a bigger hose. wrap it around the brake hose to protect it.
How’s it holding up? I’ve heard people talk about needing to replace CV joints?
Please send where You got the brackets and spacers please, thank You
Great video, learned alot from it
A website called Journeys OffRoad
Oh..the hanger bracket for lowering the front end of the rear differential; if you switch it upside down, you'll find that it works perfectly and you can tight it down as much as you want.
Otherwise great job on everything 👏 👌
It's a "U" shaped hangar with the sturdy side facing up. It only goes in 1 way. I assume you're talking about 9:15 in the video
Hey can You send parts link, please the spacers etc.
can you do an updated video? how's it going, any issues? any changes? did you install wheel spacers?
Going great! Check out my Instagram. SanDiegoMitch
Great vid. If you get some video of it off road, that would be cool!

Awesome video! As far as for the installation of the front driver and passenger side, How did you manage to align both of the bottom strut holes and the chassis arm together? I only was able to get the bottom bolt to align with the chassis arm. But I found it really difficult to align the top bolt of the strut along with the chassis arm. Did you use any shock compression tool to decrease the size of the shock so that the entire shock and struct will fit? I'm currently struggling installing the front driver/passenger side due to the top bolt of the strut not wanting to properly align with the chassis. What method did you recommend? Thanks!
How many inch lift?
Thanks I’m installing one now
planning to buy 2014 sienna and lift it... just wondering why you guys sell the vehicle?
Switched to bigger vehicles. I build up and travel in many vans, selling once I want a new project
Sandiegomitch....lm planning to buy this lift kit, but no one will install it.
Do you know anyone from Los Angeles area to install it?
Tia
Nope, I installed it myself. Journeys installs it, out of Flagstaff
Have y'all had any issues with your CV axles?
0 issues,0 vibrations
So it's a body lift kit... Ok... I was wondering if it was a body or suspension lift
I wanted to put lift kits in my van Chrysler town and country 2003 where I can find right one
This kit is from Journey's off road.
Certain vans allow for lift kits, others do not. Not sure about the Chrysler.
I know this is 2 years old but. Hows the driveability on this lifted. What was gas mileage aswell
We had 0 problems with it. The larger tires we added definitely made the vehicle a bit more sluggish, but it crawled over everything.
100% would do it again
Great video 👍
How is the handling and ride compared
to before the lift? Have you notice a drop in fuel mileage?
Haven't driven it over 40mph yet :P
We need an alignment, but we've ordered wheels and tires which got delayed. Waiting on the wheels, then the alignment and I will get back to you.
@@sandiegomitch are the front CVs handling the new angles?
@@goclunker yep, no issues. Just got back from a 5,000 mile road trip. All camping was in national forests on rough roads. instagram.com/SanDiegoMitch
Did you have to fully remove the rear sub axle beam, or were you able to install one drop bracket at a time? I'm mid-install and wondering if I need to drop the whole thing or do one side at a time. Thanks!
Hmm, that's a good question. I'm almost positive you need to remove the entire assembly. Hardest part, no question.
Call JOR. Their customer support with install questions is top notch.
How does it feel, drive, ect?
How hard to add the beam extention to drop down!
Hi there from South Korea. Will have my mechanic to install this. With instruction which provided by factory, how hard is it to follow from mechanic point of view. Are you fully satisfied with this?
Mechanic shops can do it, but they will be looking at it more from a mechanic view point piecing it together. If they installed lift kits before, it shouldn't be a problem.
Show them this video. It will help them out. We made this video as it would've helped us out.
We're very happy with it!
How much the leveling kit cost you ?
Video that thing on some trails!

TO SANDIEGOMITCH: this is a good and helpful video. Thanks for showing the installation challenges. This is above my personal skill level of DIY on cars. So I will probably hire someone to install the kit for me in the future (when I get the Sienna I want). Please tell me how the fuel economy may have been affected. How many MPG did your Sienna get prior to the install (and was that with stock tires+wheels)? And what MPG does it get now (after Lift Kit install, and with the tires)? This is important info for me. Please share here (as I am not on Instagram). Subscribed.
Pre-Install, my 2013 Sienna gets avg 19.6 mpg hwy/city. Disappointed, always filling her up. I will have spark plugs checked, next. Otherwise, such a comfortable ride... I'm in Heaven, just...gas is Hell, bc I was driving a 1992 Toyota Corolla Wagon that got 35mpg on Hwy.😃😁
I just did mine yesterday, what size tires are you going to run?
I have 17s
245 65 17
Fantastic. Can't go any bigger. Slight rub if at full corner and braking.
@@sandiegomitch ok im doing 255/55r18 i guess its a 29" tire but i also did 1" spacers, we're in Alaska and the clearance is gonna be so handy
@@craigthomas6052 ya, that's the size I'd go with for 18. OEM/stock wheels? If so, ya spacers will look better, otherwise if new wheels, just adjust your wheel offset
@@sandiegomitch Installing lift kit now. . . .shopping for new wheels. . . . what offset would you recommend (in order to skip the wheel spacers?)??
She's cool! The kit, eh..
How to order please.?

What's your best mpg?
If I remember correctly, I'm thinking it was around 19mpg, but that's absolutely fully loaded (living in vehicle), with big off-road tires and roof rack. Sold the vehicle a couple months ago
More photos of the completed van on my Instagram @SanDiegoMitch
I guess if it flexes it will not break, some of those parts look very skinny
Which ones are you thinking?
Should've just traded it for a Sequoia! Lol. Doesn't look very safe, but it's not my drive shaft. 😁
Not as capable for what we need!

@@sandiegomitch Awesomë! I'd just hope you keep fresh Gear oil in the diffs. And change that transfer case fluid. 🤠
This looks a nightmare
Just a tad bit of work
Way' TOO MUCH WORK.
Make it look more rugged. Right now looks like a handicap van.

Just don't go on the highway with it
Well we're glad we wouldn't take your advice.
7000 miles later, and currently on a 5000 mile ski trip.
