Jonas, I’m glad you did a review of this paraglider. This company is owned by a longtime friend’s son who I’ve followed over the years on the prototypes. It didn’t dawn on me he’d started shipping these out until I went to their site and recognized him and his VW with Ohio plates in their UA-cam video. Enjoy the paraglider. Paul’s engineering skills are extremely high.
I've got the same machine, have had it for about 6 months. I really like it. I've got a monster 185 on a parajet as well, they serve different purposes. There's nothing better than a cruise to watch the sunset on the electric. It's so nice and smooth! Enjoy! I haven't left sport mode, I'll have to try the chill mode sometime. I love the amount of power it has. It does tend to taper off toward the lower percentage of battery so keep that in mind.
I was skeptical at first and I am even an Electric flight type of guy, could not believe how powerful that thing is, looks like a blast, I am sold. Got to get one!
Nice to see you Jonas having something to pump up your adrenaline. You are a really gifted guy. You can do anything and we will enjoy watching you do it. You and Silvia are just the real deal. Best of wishes.
The farming was quite interesting change of activities, and it is very nice to see you back on the aviation side along with Silvia. A great couple doing interesting and fun things together...wonderful and thank you for sharing. BTW, motorcycle helmets with Sena headsets, their boom mikes and the shared rider feature would work great air-to-ground plus for your recordings--on motorcycles, from 0-75+mph, everyone told me that I sounded right next to them with no wind noise or anything.....
Get some sena bluetooth headsets so you can talk to each other while you’re flying. We were using them for short hauling on and around powerlines. They were made for bikers I think and work great around motors like bikes and helicopters and probably paramotors. They go on helmets easily too. Seems like that rig should have a remote control for drone/instruction mode or something.
@@james1795 Yes however everything has a failure mechanism and part of being safe is recognizing that and looking out for each other in this community. Your feedback is neither valuable or constructive.
Awesome, I just got my batch 3 SP140 delivered in Aus. Rules are different here, I need an endorsement from my PG license to PPG license before I can fly it. I cannot wait to get the endorsement, please keep posting more videos of this machine 🪂🪂
BLOKE you need a license in this country to take a dump. Even if you have the runs💩💩💩 like uncontrolled. . . . Been years, but we had a Buckeye PPC. The Rotax 503 had plenty of ooooommfph at 5500 feet and the tricycle gear was super easy. I like this idea, but getting older and I don't think the knees would handle it!.... Looks like fun though, hurry and get her in it!
3 09 cracking some Heineken and pistachios, I have no idea how I managed to end to this video, but I might get into this type of adventure. Looks amazing!
Super cool! The power will amaze you. The importance of "cruise control" is not an option with electric ... It is required. With gas, a varity of throttle positions can result in the same engine (prop) RPM depending on load. With the electric, throttle position will always result in the same RPM almost instantly. Lifting throttle is braking ... but tuneable in the controller. My guess is freewheeling is set to max to reduce engine braking. Everyone will want one.
Nice!! I could SEE the torque that thing's got in the form of your climb rate! Pretty impressive! Will be great to climb high, then go off throttle for total SILENCE as you glide down. I'm too nervous to shut mine down in the air, even though I have E-start. My luck the battery will crap out (It runs my strobe, too), and I won't be able to get it started again, lol. It always starts, but I just don't feel comfortable shutting it off up there! I also just replaced the starter last week! The Bendix failed, and I couldn't separate the halves to attempt a fix. That made me mad! It would throw out and crank for about a second, then retract and spin to 10k RPM, lol. They must've used industrial Loctite on the gasket surfaces of those halves!! Was cool to see this in my notification list when I got home. Just flew tonight with my buddy. Another friend was there, and he got some AMAZING pics of us taking off into the sun. They came out great! I've got to throw a video together with all the footage, but have been super busy lately (Not a bad thing in this economy). Last time I tried to fly, I climbed for about 20 seconds and ended up in the soup! Didn't realize the ceiling was that low. Was perfect tonight - buttery smooth!! 😎 Can't wait to see this one in future vids, and also Silvija's kiting! That's great! Would be really sweeeeeet to see the both of you flying together some time in the future! 👍😎👍
What you need is a big ass mountain behind the launch site, facing the late afternoon wind, like my place about an hour ago! You could have stayed up power off, no sweat.
Been eyeballing the SP140 for a while...might pull the trigger and get one... Been out or paramotoring for while..time to get back in that saddle...nice flight👍👍👍
Scariest part of the flight is when the weather wimins get on the tractor 2:00 looooooolz!!! Does she drive in the correct side of the road!? I keed I keed!
At first at sea level, "Sport" mode was a bit much spinning my 3-blade 140cm prop.....it is a "beast" re: instant power and torque. At altitude, the beast gets more tame and becomes more manageable. I love my SP140....but I must admit, I really enjoy flying my OpenPPG X4 "angry bees" too! This is the future...Now! Thanks, Paul and Zach! Bill
Great to see you flying again. However, I really would argue that you need to acquire and use a wind sock on your personal airport. Light winds can change direction in an hour. Several times in the past I have seen you attempt down wind landings and have problems. While that maybe ok with RC, it is not when you are in the aircraft! I have about 150 tows in gliders, 100 hours in ultralights. Confirming the wind direction should be part of a landing checklist!
hell yeah awesome video and you guys have a great personality....fun to watch and i just bought a new harley but this could be my next purchase.........glen
I've got pretty much the identical little 4 stroke that you built. I tuned mine a bit and added a thrust bearing. I've thought about putting a powerful little RC motor on it for electric start and boost.
I love the idea of it but the shorter flight time just doesn’t do it for me. Hoping in the next several years the energy density really goes up and you could get a few hours cross country on electric.
At 7:01, it looks like the assembler guy has webbed fingers !!!! Also, for calm days, could you spike the wing with helium, to give you extra lift, and lighten your overall weight when you are up?
Launch that wing trims all the way out. The inflations will be much easier. The brake range will be deeper. And it won't want to stall or spin on you while you run. Launch trims up, fly trims down, land trims down!
If you get a battery fire in a car you pull over and get out. If you get a battery fire at 1000 feet with a the batteries right next to you it's not going to end so well. They need to either fully contain the danger or make it eject like a ballistic chute in emergencies.
6:06 at least ''in the morning'' you had a little bit of BREEZE to inflate the canapy...~!!! cool seeing ya get back ''off the ground!!!'' altho the farmer stuff is cool as I said b4
My game plan is to get paragliding instruction sometime next year and then get this thing the following year (2024). I'm not sure if it's viable, but the plan is I'm going to paraglide like normal (except not in the middle of the day) and use this with the smaller battery to help keep me in the air. Basically, this thing will be my substitute for thermals.

is the sp140 very heavy?
Never done that before, I do like the clean electric hassle free non Smokey clothes afterwards option, awesome!
