Watch Law 1: Never outshine the master • Video
The 48 Laws of Power, by Robert Greene, asserts that whether you like it or not, you're part of a never-ending game of power. You're either striving for and wielding power, or you're a pawn being played by someone more powerful than you. You choose your role. In this video, I uncover and talk about what to expect from the book and how other people are using the laws against you. Knowledge is power, don't let others take advantage of you.

48 Laws of Power is a great book. It has given me the tools to spot power plays and the ability to navigate interpersonal politics. Should be taught in every high school in the world, if for no other reason than to teach good people how to stand up to those with evil intentions.

If read in that spirit, ok. Unfortunately, and this really jibes with the presentation, people take it as guidebook, not just warning.

I really liked this review. I started reading this as a learning tool. But it just reinforced the fact that people are manipulative and power hungry. It basically showed me why the world is falling apart and why life is not valued. Love is not valued. Peace is not valued. It's like learning how to be the Devil. I always said the colonizers created laws against the atrocities and deciets they committed.

Referencing psychopathic behaviors as a virtue to be admired is the first mistake.
Authoritative social discourse is not "power". A tornado blowing your house into your neighbors back yard is power. Water is power. Without it there is no life on Earth.
Why should we play these silly little games to give "us" the illusion of power?

I had dinner with the author a few years before he became famous with this book. He was shifty-eyed. I wasn't impressed. That said, I've read the book and his others. People who use it as a guidebook to life are fools. He basically found a clever way to make a lot of money.
