- Get the DLC to this game ($4). It only adds more skulls and items. - Always get two items and two skulls from the fox and the ogre, even if want that big upgrade from the witch. You *will* make that black quartz back that run, and you'll always have early resources. - You can be attacked during dialogue - Now heres a personal take. I always skip the item rooms in the first and 2nd stages of the game and always go for gold and skull rooms. - Find the shaman and the harpy
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH, I HAVE BEEN WAITIN FOR THIS ONE!!! Such a fun game with a beautiful story, although you don’t gotta read it all it’s still pretty good
So there is a reason for Yggy feeling like he's made of paper (Haha) compared to the heroes. He actually has less health per health bar than all the heroes, which also have different health depending on what class and where in the run that hero is. Also, lore wise, Yggs is being drained of its powers and being slaved to protect the entrance of the kingdom. Yggy is tired and beaten to a pulp by the time Skul arrives.
(also, he has 500 more total health on average than the hero you fight to get to him. He feels leaf-thin because that health is divided between the two health bars)
This channel has slowly become one of my favorites It brings me back to how UA-cam used to be and every single video has been enjoyable from start to finish. I wish you the best of success man and hope to be here as your channel continues to grow.
That’s really great that this was your takeaway with my stuff man. I’m a big fan of old UA-cam myself, and I like to believe I’m keeping it alive at least a little.
The ent seemed like it had less health than the rookie hero because you used the grim reaper skul, which increases in damage by 1% for every time you get a soul from a killed enemy. When he fought the hero it was +14% damage but while fighting the ent it was +65% damage plus better skills. Tips for anyone who is new to skul, the grim reaper is really good if you get it early because of this but not as good as other legendary skuls if you get it late Edit: The enemies don't get stronger when they kill you it's just flavour text and sometimes their levels go up but their damage and health do not scale with level only with area
Amazing game 10/10 i loved playing through the story, i reccommend you play the dark mirror version which adds a whole plethora of new mechanics to the game, ALSO IM IN THE INTRO TWICE!
Wow this came out today ? I'm on a big skul streak & thought this vid was at least 1 years old like every skul vid i'm consuming. Skul is one of those game that is hindered by its sluggish slow start , having tried picking it up & dropping it 2 or 3 times before giving it a real shot , i've discovered that it's the gift that keeps on giving & after beating the game on its hardest difficulty a few times , I can firmly say it's risen to be my favorite action roguelike in the scene & easily belongs with the greats like dead cells , hades & isaac. The best micro & macro progression i've experienced in any roguelike , from the difficulty system to the run to run power-fantasy & variety. The skulls evolutions is the most satisfying micro-progression system with skulls having multiple forms , common , rare , unique and legendary (just like the items and essences which are a whole other buffet of synergies) having your little slave skull evolve from a scrawny slave to a gladiator , general and finally into a godly looking Spartacus feels much better than the Daedalus hammer or a legendary in dead cells which have no visual flare ( no shade to either I love & completed both games ). Speaking of visual flare , did the art team cook. Every legendary variant feels like one. Skul's the kind of game where every run feels different due to how different each skull plays and feels. with each skull having multiple possible abilities and playstyles , they also differentiate themselves in core mechanics like movement , hitbox & of course fantasy. I believe the game has around 50 skulls , which doesn't sounds like a lot , and to be honest it didn't feel like a lot to me when I first heard that number until i've beaten the game a bunch of time & felt like i've only scratched the surface of what the game has to offer, especially in contrast to other games where I felt like i've seen it all not far into progression. All this to say , game good , deserves more recognition. If you've been on the fence or if it gave you a bad first impression , trust me ... keep playing , once it clicks , it'll keep on clicking until you've clicked all over yourself. Thanks for reading.
Bruh….you had the workings of one of the most op runs ever when you saw the bomb skull after killing the hero trainee but you scrapped him…all of my pain
I would love to see a how many attempts video on this. I got the game because of this video and can absolutely say it was worth it (I’m just a little annoyed that the second attempt you got a legendary skull whereas I got rolled by the plant people)
Got to say this video is really good. I haven't seen this kind of video in quite a while so it's really refreshing. All in all im looking forward to watching more of you. Also got to say man i love this game (favorite rogelite). I don't know if you are looking for any suggestions for games to play but if you are i would recommend an amazing rogelite called wizard of legend.
I'm so glad Skul: The Hero Slayer community is still going strong. I really hope devs actually release a new update. Like, the game does feel finished but MAN I hope it isn't, considering Carleon is just one kingdom and it was already confirmed that Dark Quartz came from outside of Carleon
7:52 I think he has a fairly similar amount of health (normally it’s supposed to feel like more because most skulls don’t have that many consistent ways of damaging him, at least not as well as reaper), you’re just dealing more damage to him than to the hero.
Over 300 runs and ive only beaten the game 4 or 5 times Some tips Swaping skulls is very helpfull everyone has an action upon swapping Every skull falls under physical or magic damage when picking items up be sure to pick ones that help your skull excel Last try out every skull you dont know if you will like their style even if they start off weak
seriously awesome game i think you should fully beat. seriously. i'm also being very serious when i say you should try out nine sols! :) it's a bit different than the games you typically play but still a good challenge
OH MY GOD i love this game i have almost 400 hours in it my dad also loves it. I was almost gonna hop on skul before i saw this and then i saw this and instantly clicked
I just LOVE this game its my favorite and you got a godrun... But its ok you are learning, the playstation achievements are easier than the pc ones so i dont think it will take you many time. Some tips bellow: Every item have 2 inscriptions, each one gives an effect when you have other item(s) with the same one, keep looking on this because some of them are REALLY good, like revenge that heals you about 70% of the damage you take when you hit an enemy with a small cooldown, and courage/wisdom that amplifies your physical/magic damage in 20% Damage increase and amplification are not the same: While damage increase adds to your damage, like 100% physical damage increase puts your damage from 200 to 300, while 100 damage amplification puts it from 200 to 400 Each skull and item have a type of damage, the samurai one for example is a physical while the reaper is magical, if u press Y (i think, on pc its Q) you can see your stats and on the top its magic and physical damage, each one affects some skulls and items. Remember to dodge, the game puts a lot of attacks on the screen but if you look closely most of them will be next to each other making it easy to dodge into them and dont take damage, but it comes with time no need to rush things This come from someone who made 100% achievements on PC and got till DM-7 (if you played enough you know what it is) doing a no death challenge so i think i can talk a bit. Im brazilian and english is not my primary language so sorry if there are some mistakes but please tell me so i can correct them and learn.

Press Rebone while his skull is flying to, you guess it, stay airborn longer. Another thing is a bit faster movement than just running. Press dash-dashjump for it, and no that is not a typo. You'll need to input this quick enough, but timing is not that strict. Oh, and buy that dlc. There some good skulls in it. Alco, if i remeber correctly, there is three skulls you can unlock in the run. Look for the guy in shop that sell stuff for Dark Quartz. But it's rng, so eh. One more thing about that "Something specific". Achivement "The Skeleton King". Yes, you'll have to beat the game with the starting skull, but it's not that tough. @ sorry I know it’s been awhile but just saw your reply. When you swap to bomber, you’ll notice it exploded after a few seconds, doing a lot of magic damage. The bomber skull can be amazing, but only if it has the kaboom skill. When you use that skill, it immediately triggers the explosion, and once you upgrade the bomber to legendary, the cooldown for this skill is 0 seconds. That means you can use the explosion every time your swap cooldown is ready, so every few seconds. It’s basically a perfect second skull for any magic run because it’s easy magic damage and a lot of it.
I think a really fun game to play would be SANABI, it isnt much of a rougelike but it plays very well, and has a similar feel to a rougelike, just with a set path rather than a randomly generated one
The reason why the aunt feels much weaker than the heroes is because when you fight the aunt you are generally going to have better items such as having more magic damage from magic run crit damage for crit run or physical damage for a physical run. In other words the heroes are hard because you don't have much items the aunt is easy because he is stationary and has attacks that are telegraphed like elden ring bosses will the equivalent power of a basic Mario boss
Haven't watched the video yet. But I'm gonna take a guess and say, no you can't. Not because you're bad. You actually seem very naturally good at these games. But because Skul is so incredibly difficult. Probably the second hardest Roguelike I've ever played only behind Deadcells.
I was hesitant between getting dead cells and skul, but after seeing skul had a user agreement that basically says they will sell ur information the choice was alot easier
Enemies don't get stronger from defeating you, that's just some flavor text. Also, the reason some of the text doesn't make much since is because this game was made by a Japanese developer, and not everything is translated perfectly into English.
Either you buy healing at the shops or you pick up purple orbs that enemies drop occasionally. Some skulls and items do have healing stuff but I don't rly notice them
If you're going to play skull a lot I recommend you stick with one type of damage constantly for example if you're going to a magic run choose to increase magic damage only and not take any skulls that say physical damage or that have physical damage as their main attacking damage for example don't pick the champion if you're going for a magic damage run because the champion is a a physical damage garbage can same thing applies to the predator it's just that he is actually good and the name is very controversial. The only time I would recommend to use multiple different damage type skulls is when you are in a crit run because critical damage is indiscriminate it equally kills everyone with physical or magic damage. Also the skulls have an upgrade path which is common-rare-unique-legendary and you need to pay 12 grade a common to a rare you need to pay 10 bone to upgrade a rare to a unique you need Freddy bones and to upgrade a unique to a legendary you require 100 bones. That is why you could not upgrade the legendary skull reaper because he was already at max level. Also if you ever get the chance to play with love The Gambler skull it is really addicting (such as the real thing). I won't spoil anything about the game I'm just telling you that it will not be quick and easy it will kick your posterior 50 times over. Hope you have fun with the game and may God help you in all the levels you're going to need it
I was a sickly boy in this one, sorry if the voiceover sounds weird.

I hope you're better now bro

"Something specific in the game i should try" huh?
Well, as someone who 100% this game and 902 hours in, i got some tips for ya.
Let's start basic - movement.
Jump-dash-jump combo would helped you in 10:43.
it's also useful to stay airborn longer, because some enemie attacks can cover the entire floor.
Some of that attacks are high enough to get you even at single jump height.
So, do a jump-jump-dash-dash than.
On top of all that, some of your attacks and skills can hold you in the air a bit longer too.
Let's take a look at Skul himself.
Skull Throw can be done in the air too.
You see, Skul's skills have very low cooldown time - 6 seconds on Skull Throw, and 3 on Rebone.
Just find items that do damage on skill activation (Manatech Gravity Generator or Mage's Necklace).
Add some cooldown reduction, scale that with damage items.
And then just start spamming skills.
That will be all for now. Have fun and good luck :)
Oh hell yes, my favorite roguelike!
Will you go up to dark mirror 10?
Oh boy, as a former speedrunner this’ll be a fun ride
but bro i’m on the toilet that shouldn’t count for no pants 😭
Wow I see how it is Skul. I literally beat the game multiple times and never once saw the Reaper skull and Mint found it on his 2nd run 😭

@mintmuffled I wouldn't say they're super rare, especially after you've played the game for a while. I've seen most of them but never got the Reaper sadly. It's weird. You really did get insanely lucky since it was the first skull that you acquired. Reaper can absolutely carry a run, as you saw.
the reason yiggs feels like he has less health is because the is easier to hit and you have better gear.
This guy owes me 5 bucks
You’ll have to kill me
@@mintmuffled But if they kill you, they won't get the 5 bucks that you owe 🤔
Have you played Spelunky? It’s by far the hardest rogue like I’ve played
I think I did years ago, but I didn’t really get it. Perfect time to try again!
As someone who’s put a hundred hours into Skul, watching him destroy the kaboom bomber hurt so bad 😭
I've done a few runs, and reached the third stage's boss. I've never seen the bomber skull though. It's good then? What's it do?
@ sorry I know it’s been awhile but just saw your reply. When you swap to bomber, you’ll notice it exploded after a few seconds, doing a lot of magic damage. The bomber skull can be amazing, but only if it has the kaboom skill. When you use that skill, it immediately triggers the explosion, and once you upgrade the bomber to legendary, the cooldown for this skill is 0 seconds. That means you can use the explosion every time your swap cooldown is ready, so every few seconds. It’s basically a perfect second skull for any magic run because it’s easy magic damage and a lot of it.

Hope you have fun with the game and may God help you in all the levels you're going to need it
You should do curse of the dead gods
Crazy day to upload a vid ngl
