It's funny because when I started off (Nov 2021), no one cared about new players or their experience. Now no one cares about those who have been around and the team doesn't care about their asset prices. How can they bring in more people if they can't keep the current ones happy? I've seen them advertise and it not work already, so I'll wait and see how many they can get to join and literally buy in. At the end of the day, it's a cycle, they'll become "old" players after a while and end up in the same boat as us and the team will look for new players again.
Charging people to play in wild is asinine. Pretty much the final straw for most people. All the team has ever done is sell you on the future and not deliver. When I see actual player base growth I will believe it. Until then, I just see it as more talk to try to slow the pace of the sell off of assets. And what you were basically saying is you’ve either already lost all your money or you should just accept it as lost and then be happy if somehow that actually changes.
I agree, maybe if they would allow old cards to play in modern without paying that would be ok. But making us pay to play our old cards is a major mistake.
Selling your products in the marketplace has to be constant no matter what the state of the market is. They might all be good developers with cool, creative ideas, but they have very poor business sense. Thinking that you have to wait for the perfect time to start selling again is how you leave the door open for all other competitors to take the market share you thought you were going to get
biggest achievement for any game is gamer retention. So if this game cant keep the current players happy then it does not matter if it brings a ton of new players as after 2-3 months they will quit anyway
I really don't like the big FU narrative for old players. I already heard it a couple of times from people that bought only REB now. The problem is general, you can't ignore and say farewell at all the players / investors that are deep in assets and say that only new players matters now... Old players control the DAO decisions and the people inside now are the best customers for the game, new players who spend that much are probably a handful. The game has already gathered is niche, who doesnt know splinterlands and really like this kind of games is living under a rock.
To be fair, the current players have never really mattered. I've been feeling that, and that's one of the reasons i left. Your scenario will never happen though...because for a game to really really succeed, they must embrace the community from the start...Instead, they benefited their whale friends and themselves from the gate, and then it's only gotten worse from there. I have zero regrets for my cashout
I don't play any battles but I enjoy stacking cards on land for the long term. I plan to do this for the rest of my life. People will call me lucky in the future.
I am only putting alpha, beta and untamed on my land. I have a lot of chaos that I have been slowly liquidating because I would like to have 0 cards from new sets. I want the scarcity play for the long term. I am also happy to dump all my farmed grain to support this strategy.
@@LevelUpLife1 Cool.Thanks. Althought if its only scarcity we are looking at then is not rebellion number of packs similar to untamed ? So its not just scarcity if you are avoiding any new sets ,even scarce ones, then?
Good observation. What I don't like about Rebellion is I assume there is a premium on the cards because they are being played with in modern. Along with scarcity I don't want to buy into a premium this would also apply to the older cards. I would be fine buying say a legendary untamed summoner because I feel like the older cards are a bit abandoned by the "players". I would put the card on land and forget about it for 5 years.
What happens if 10k players come and buy sps under 1 cent and then sps skyrockets to 1$ and thats when 100k more players arive and then as soon as they buy in at that ath it starts crashing to 50c ,10c ,5c etc? I guess they wont be as happy as you claim they will. So youll have 5k original not so happy and then 10k happy and then 100k players super pissed off cause they expected to be gaining like the 10k players did but all they see is crash in prices.
sigh. No one is going to dispute that if we get 95k new players, it doesn't matter much what happens to us. However, we actually have to onboard those 95k players first and that means we have to set the stage to receive them. How many times have you said a green candle is the best marketing? What do you think a red candle does? What do you think an absolutely pissed off player base does to marketing efforts vs a supportive and engaged player base? If Splinterlands is successful in getting people to check out the game, what are those players going to find ? One set card rentals, new animations, 3 years of red candles, and a few grizzled old timers icing their sore nutsacks from being kicked so many times by the team? A new person has no reason to believe they're more important to the team than anyone else was. And btw, I know you say you're not part of the team, but go look at your green discord name. You're a recognized team member and you just made a video saying current players don't matter. 😔 And your vision of happy new players is off. There is no world where 95k people come in and buy the sub .01 cent floor and get tp be happy as clams with their 3x gains. Let's say against all odds the marketing campaign works and we quickly get our first 1000 new players. At that point, most current players would stop selling SPS, lowering liquidity. Whales who see history repeating would buy more. Cards and land would stop being sold and start being bought. By the time we got to 10k new players, SPS would have shot up without the new players actually buying much of anything. It would likely be the dramatic price increases that get new players to start buying. By the time the next 10k players came in, the first 10k would be in full FOMO and would be buying everything not nailed down. Suddenly SPS is at .50+ and cards are almost back at all time highs. By the time all 95k new people got in, SPS would be at multiple dollars and 90% of the new players would have higher buy in prices than the CL class of 2021. We're not going to have a price freeze while 100k players pile in and the degens will not be orderly. And in the highly unlikely event that any of this happens, I hope everyone who's stuck it out knows to take profit on the way up because there will be a back down.
Its not badly minded but you and the team will very quicky see how much current players matter a lot 🙂 Just wait on the moment the unlocking Soulbound cards gets official.
My man…. They cant bring dead cat under these conditions. Any money spent on this game is wasted money. It was obvious as soon as they released SB reward cards. Since then i personaly contributed massive 40$ to the “ecosystem” and i am sorry that i did so.

I was taken aback at first but it’s the only way to ensure that wild doesn’t get leached to death by extractors.

I agree that sales should be more consistent. We tend to be very front loaded.
A lot of people Happy, except the ones Who sold for nothing and left the game.
Not really….. Dudes just waiting oportunity to run as soon as they can break even. All hype is fake in atempt to lure new players in.
Not everyone sold

FU is a bit aggressive. Older players are being deprioritized for new players but logically it makes sense.

I still think the team does way more community management than most other projects

How can you make 100k people happy when you can barely satisfy the 1000 we currently have that are the back bone of this game...pure denial here.
