Great review Dwayne. A few things to add:
1- Our absolute best marketing tool is our community, we can disagree on a proposal, the state of the economy or the team's progress on specific aspects of the game, but being salty will only deter other people to join in, so it is like shooting ourselves in the foot.
2- Matt, Nate and the rest of the team have made more progress on the game since Aggy left than at any other time, with much less human resources. So the team deserves a lot of recognition and positive feedback from the community.
3- We are now getting from Matt the right information about their progress, versus getting pie-in-the sky stories from Aggy which I now consider as one the greatest snake oil salesmen. Good thing he is no longer around.
4- We need to plan a card burning event asap as getting rid of the bot farms will overflow the market with dirt cheap prices for months to come.
5- We need the battle pass to be more than the right to play in wild. For instance, 5% ranked battle boost, 5% shop discount, guild merit bonus, soulbound avatar, 1 free skin when available, 2 extra daily energies, 10 potions. We need the battle pass to be attractive to all players, even those playing in Modern so it is a positive addition to the game.
6- We need card ownership to be acknowledged and rewarded (thus excluding rentals) in a form of a ranked battle boost alongside SPS staking. Especially as we prepare to increase the staked SPS minimum requirements.

Great points, I agree with you. Not so sure about the battle pass but at this all time low, it's worth trying. All the rest I agree 100%
You left out the biggest fundamental flaw which is Hive. If this game had support for all the major chains and bridges that would operate only on gas fees. Upon transfer they would burn and mint equal amount of tokens from one chain to another which would keep the price equal in all chains not causing the STEPN effect. The second potential flaw is the team getting tired or too poor to work for this project. I agree that the game itself still has charm and potential.
Just had a thought of a possible way to boost the sps price.
Everyone says we need more players for the sps price to go up. But what if that never happens? I have said that we need a daily use for sps. We need to spend/burn it, not just accumulate it and let it build up in our account
The sps/dec flywheel was supposed to be the solution, but Dec is way under peg and people are not burning Dec. This may still work in the future but it isn’t working now
How about also creating a sps/glint flywheel? People seem to be happy with the glint store and it is getting better and better with the more items they add to it. Players want more glint to spend in the store to buy chests, titles, merits, etc
The only way to get glint is through ranked battle wins. What if we allow sps to be burned to get glint. This should be a constant sps burn mechanism that will help to slowly decrease the sps supply
I know people will say that bots will exploit this by burning a lot of sps to buy cards/chests but if they do that then they won’t have enough sps staked to earn
Maybe $1 sps burned for 1000 glint or 2000 glint
Glint is temporary, it can only be spent in the store and can’t be converted into anything else but sps can be converted into other tokens. Let’s be able to convert sps to glint and give it a good reason to be burnt which will help lower the supply, raise the demand and help raise the price

Totally agree with the last point. If you look at the Matt promo card proposal, I say the exact same thing in the comments. Every time I hear Matt tell us "that's what the proposal system is for" I cringe because just creating a proposal means players get saltier, they leave, and the whole game is weaker for it.

First time I can really agree with you, maybe not for the exact same reasons. Since that first proposal about inserting rebellion packs on chests was disrespected by the team / DAO and they did what they wanted to do and instead of respecting the wish of the majority that voted on it I lost all confidence in the proposals regarding this game. In the end they create a false debates since they end up implementing what they want, so... why propose at all?

if you look at business view. I don't really see any souce of income to splinterland company except card pack sell and it not much. If the company have no profit. How can they keep game server running ? or keep any team to develope the game ? I think you should be careful business that have no profit will fail eventually.

Everyone always talks about how they want decentralization. But I can't think of a single things that's thrived off of decentralization. Too many bad actors, people ill informed. The only thing these proposals have done have created division when people don't get their way when they don't agree then get mad and leave. It's honestly the worst and honestly what I feel will kill the game.

I thought about leaving this game many times due to several reasons, but I love it so much that I decided to sink with it, or thrive in a miracle turn of events. Really hopping for that miracle, since I'm not prepared to stop playing it yet. Tournaments and brawls are way exciting!

It's been nearly 3 years since I watched one of your videos for the first time. Nearly 3 years of playing and collecting Splinterlands assets. I have no regrets, but I do fear the game disappearing. Either way, I'll be here.
Man i remember when we were up at 3.5 cents or whatever and you said we would see a 1 cent sps and i thought you were crazy. Shout out to you for being right. Here we are lol
1. A lot of games became successful because of simplicity. SP is becoming too complicated that new players gets confused of the different assets. DEC, SPS, vouchers, so many cards, land, etc.. The life of a game relies a lot on new players. I love the SP I knew during Untamed and earlier. So simple that onboarding is so easy.
2. All asset price cannot take advantage of bull runs and sometimes suffer during bear time. It is because of 1 asset that has a ceiling price, DEC. Let DEC float. All the other assets including SPS will have a chance to break the ceiling and earn their true potential.

It's so ridiculous. Sometimes Dwayne seems like he has no idea about the crypto market. But he also believes that XRP and other old shitcoins will eventually reach the moon. 😅😂
Now the players bad governance decisions are the culprit. I cant go to Splinterlands HQ and program a new gaming interface, the same from 6 yeas ago. I cannot stop bots or battle helpers, and I am advising here since they become better than humans that it would destroy the game. Nobody cures a terrible disease with smiles and flowers. We are now feeling the pain from the medicines (still insufficient) adopted to cure the cancer created by bots, the greed etc. Will the game survive? Only time will tell. Many players saw in the lats bull run a lot of games exploding, paying a lot, and then dying few weeks later. Many people lost confidence in altcoins. People will be way more cautious when deciding where to invest. The game needs a reboot. But I believe the team has few people do deliver the updates it need in a short time. And time is critical. That's why I sold all the assets I could. But now, I cant sell nothing anymore. I consider the 4k USD value I have in the game as lost.
Exactly. There are many issues with bots, but one of the things they also do is distance the owner from their cards. Deflationary assets are a dream if players don't have a personal connection to their cards. If a bot is playing your cards, we don't care about the cards, only the statistics.
As someone who hand plays without a battle helper it also drives me insane that I have paid money to "play" a game where at best I am a tool to improve battle helpers and bots. At worst they simply extract from my playing. Either way I lose. I don't understand why the developers of Splinterlands have never taken this as seriously as necessary.

Actually you can't enjoy it for years to come because your cards are only playable in modern while they are the 2 most current sets and to use your "old" cards you have to pay every season in wild. This change totally ruined the game for me & I now resent every single cent spent on it which before wasn't a concern as I enjoyed the game

well if full on splinterfail happens, hive still does have GO ( golem overlords ) simply a superior model from the get go, its learned from splinter mistakes from the beginning, on so many levels. Splinterlands was and is a kind of worldbreaker, it broke into the world view, the peoples had on what things can happen in spaces such as this, a TRUE pioneer, but maybe JUST that the first real authentic drop in the bucket, the acid test so to speak, proving the potential of the paradigm and make no mistake, splinterlands ISN'T the entire paradigm, tho it has imprinted it heavily and may have been its VANGUARD for some time and for some still is. Its vibe is like a hot broken mess, that is very confused in its identity and who identifies with it and has many broken ends and promises and a full on failure to compress the experience and total tokenomics package, into a crystalised light ship of block chain game delivery, that echoes an imprint of sustainability, through its players and isnt built to be a venus fly trap of value sinks.........
This is why I want the DAO to only buy, hold and stake SPS only. Which will pump the SPS price really fast suddenly that will create FOMO enough to make my idea of a DAO flywheel on how to attract new players, retain current one, and bring back old ones.
I want to be bullish but I just don't see it. If sps can pump then probably it can but what are the plans to get there?
