    for a cleaner circle without a jig you can get a flat headed thumb tack and stick it through some tape sticky side down, stick that thumb tack to half the total diameter of the circle you want, pop on a cube on foam and the tack will act as a spindle to turn the foam really steadily.

    • @Rybonator

    You don't need the black base coat. Use the modgepodge + your base color (grey) and it will be more than fine. Additionally I would selectively choose some places to put a lime green on, no tower like that is completely clear of moss.

    • @Rybonator
      @Rybonator  5 років тому

      I like using the black since I only use one coat of gray. It helps me find where I missed paint, and darken the whole thing up when only using one coat of the grey after. Just personal preference :) And yeah you totally can spruce it up however you like!

    It would take more work,but you could also do this with a base and roll platforms built of the bricks as well. Or the roll platforms of the wood. One could also have the platforms and roof be more or less clean looking, as if they had been broken or the platforms are made of rotting wood that was once the various floors of the tower.

      If you have the rounded edged metal dice, I used some to test this, it really still holds up quite well. Note sure how it would hold up over months/years, but I could say that for anything. But yeah if not, you can get some mini bricks of concrete or something for not too bad :)

    I would suggest using a hardwood for the baffles, within your Dice Towers. The dice will bounce considerably more, off of a hardwood, than they ever will off of pink/blue insulation foam. The key to a Dice Tower truly randomizing die rolls, is for it to make the dice bounce, and spin, within it. Take a look at these two videos, to see why I am suggesting hardwood baffles, over foam: d4-d20 individual dice rolls (ua-cam.com/video/4cJtq16m6tI/v-deo.html); handful of dice through a hardwood tower (ua-cam.com/video/OEIym29zipw/v-deo.html).
    The harder the wood, the more reactive the dice are, as well. The wood used for the baffles, and Tower, in the videos, is Bloodwood, with a Janka hardness rating of 2,900! White Oak has a Janka hardness of 1,450; HIckory, used to make baseball bats, has a Janka hardness of 1,850. Just some information to make a judgement call by. As you can see in the first video, the d4's really spin, creating truly random results. No dropping/plopping going on inside the Bloodwood Tower! Cheers!

    • @Rybonator
      @Rybonator  5 років тому +1

      The mod podge covering the foam gives it a far harder surface than the foam, but I totally agree that the harder the better. Just making with what I have on hand :) Thanks for the info!
