The temperament, from what I can tell, determines how your creature acts obviously, but also how they respond to commands. My carnivore, when I point to an area, will walk over, and about a second later will either mine or dig for resources, or hunt prey. My carnivore is fairy small, maybe twice the size of my guy, so it went after the small prey animals, when they were all dead, it actually started chasing a huge 4.5 m tall thing. My albino, horned cow thing, will either mine for resources, or scan the area.
When they killed prey, did they give you mordite and/or animal meat? If so, that’s a pretty good incentive for me to breed a hunter/carnivore

I have a problem with anatomy mutations.
When maxing out the mutation to 150%, your creature stops mutating. Like, taking the resulting offspring and doing the 150% again, nothing changes or very little changes. Then, after that generation. Any mutations at 150% in the anatomy will be the same, unless you lowball at like 50%, then the creature “reverts” back a bit to the original species.
Like, the mutation system isn’t as big as it’s hyped to be(well, in the anatomy category at least). You are far better running through multiple planets for a specific looking creature, because of this limitation/oversight with the anatomy modifier in the egg machine.
Additionally, creatures at max mutation with the anatomy modified at 150% tend to look like each other. You can get one one dog like creature from one planet, and another from a different one. Put nuke them through the anatomy, and the resulting creature will look very similar.
I think that to make pets more likely to do stuff for you like give you resources you need to increase their helpfulness stat. If you see a pet as "playful" then that pet is not helpful.....their traits behave like a bar split in half with three traits from three sets of opposites. A pet can go from playful to helpful....increase helpful stat is the same as decreasing playfulness. Decrease playfulness bellow 0 and you get a positive helpful stat. Like tug of war but with stats. The other two sets are gentleness/aggression and independence/devotion. I'm not really sure if there are any real positives to having playful or highly independent pets. I've got to figure that a highly helpful and devoted pet will do the most for you. As for gentleness vs aggression I can see positives to both. Have a devoted, helpful, and aggressive pet I suspect will jump into battle for you and protect you....destroy other predators, hazardous flora, or even fight sentinels. Have a gentle pet when going around peaceful planets so it doesn't run rampant killing all the peaceful creatures there.

I like mines to be like 50 aggressive cause he basically kills to eat…my robot just kills to kill.

For me the most "FUN" way of getting nanites is killing Sentinels.
Not the most efficient but it is fun.
Least fun has to be handing in mystery stew for an hour. Although someone heard my prayers and at least you don't need to move the crosshair anymore and can do it one handed. (Left handed smoking, not anything more hands-on pleasurable before the comments start).

I know what you mean and like Captain Steve say's I find myself falling asleep! SO BORING and I can make more nanites by scrapping ships in the same amount of time PLUS you get lots of other useful stuff as well.

In VR you can use your multitool while riding if you manage to have it out when youre riding it. Its pretty fun to ride around blasting stuff.
I don't know you can do that, I'm now consider use my VR on NMS once more.

last night, my mutated baby started spawning as a new variant of that breed! I spawned my mutated baby, which terrifies me btw, at the space anomoly, went back down to the planet where I got the original papa & there were now adults of my scary mutated baby running around the planet. I then, adopted an adult of the mutant, so, im going to mutate his egg and see if even MORE variants show up!

And I hate to say this but the gene splitter always gave me that shark head no matter how many times I gene split. I either bounced between the original head or the shark head no matter how many times I split it. Well, among the 3-4 times I gene split it in a row. Never got anything new other than those 2 versions, same with robots. I think the best thing to do is to find a creature you like the style of and try recolouring and changing its size and temperament, because I think gene splitter does not give much variety at all. Far less than what you can find on planets themselves.
For the proto gek, a stack of storm crystals gave mine wings!

Condolences for your loss. All the dogs in my house are spoiled like the kids are so I kind of know what your dealing with and I hope things get better for you, just don't forget there's a new cat somewhere that needs somebody to take care of them. I know it sucks right now though.

Some of the things we can do in this game are brilliant there's something for everyone, can definitely spend alot of hours in this game easily
Did some more testing and found that no matter the element used for growth it will increase the height by 0.5 with a 100% dosage, and the max height ( for my flying crab as it is what I used for testing) appears to be 12m it was at this point the sequencer would show only “ inherited” when putting in an element. I should note that the parent is only 6m.

I wish the Roly Polys were tamable. Perhaps they will patch to make them both tamable and ridable. Especially since the main character in Disney's the Last Dragon rides a giant Roly Poly.

hmm... I wonder if dosing the egg multiple times with a stat booster can get the baby maxed out in the stats you want without having to breed like 3-4 generations.

@@N00bie666 yes you can do it multiple times for stats. Maxed all three on an egg that I had incubating
I've done that for both helpfulness trait, and size. It does work that way. That said, the insanely large diplo I ended up with was prone to accidently knocking me all over the landscape, far enough that I'd take damage on landing if I wasn't ready.
Well we are happy now that we can fly with our pets nowadays ☺️

Is there a way to make the egg/offspring of an already modified creature, bigger again? Growth hormone slot on the egg of a modified creature only says inherited.
Unsure... my eggs seem to only decrease in the growth if they where max size.... I dont think you can... seems to be q set max height now.

You cant tame flying creatures? How come i have a butterfly and a beetle jist like the one you showed? They were both normally tameable for me

is there a fast way to help your companion mature? so it can lay eggs? mine just turned juvenile after 3 days
They go from infant to adult in around 6 to 7 days
If you get attacked by somthing the companion will attack the attacking animals

I have started to put the name of the planet in brackets after the pets name. there was a problem with the tamed pet species not having the same name as the untamed but thats fixed now

I really don't get this gene splitter thing!? I used different materials, with different values (50%, 66%, 100%, 150%), on different pets (T-Rex, Dogs, Cats) and each pet has always the same offspring!
The T-Rex has ALWAYS an offspring with the same horns and the same scales on their backs. The Dog always turns into a cat-like creature and the cat only changes its' tail!?!? What am I doing wrong?!
The Gene Splitter seems to have predicable results, it's not that random... Xaine put a Diplo in there and a rat like fauna came out, I put in a different diplo but I got the same like rat as Xaine did.
I don't use it much anymore.

Ur mutated 1 looks similar to mine, it kind of looks like 1 of the aliens from odd world
I also mutated a strider and got an almost identical result.
I find that the spider type creatures are immune to gene splitting as well
There is a type of beetle that you can tame but it is quite rare to come across. I have only seen two species of them so far.
If anyone wants to know the coordinates to one of these beetles just let me know and I will put it up on the coordinate exchange.

@@CaptainSteveVPT It can't fly but you can ride it well at least one of the two species you can I'm not sure about the other one because it's smaller than the other and I haven't tried to ride it yet.
@@aceadventure5812 Ah... I think I may have seen them, there where the beetles prior to origins that scuttle. Think Xaine hatched one with a giant shroom on its back.
There seems to be a bug with colouring (I'm on xbox). The child changed colour as I expected. But then the parent did too. And some random creatures on the planet started looking coloured like the child also. Like some kind of colour changing virus. Weird.
I'm scared to try new colours on the siblings in case I lose my bone white offspring. 100% aggressive. Armoured on all 3 connection points "dinosaur" but looks more like a six eyed demon. Haven't found anything he couldn't kill and eat. Baby Gek bleed green BTW.
On PS4 I am hearing that if you mutate a pet and then go back to that home world half the fauna may adopt the changes made... Think I need to test a bit.
@@CaptainSteveVPT Yeah I've experienced that. My comment above regarding the same creatures on the planet was a different pet from the parent/child one. But the ginger child of Eyes turned a lot of the same fauna that colour.
The parent siblings colour issue is separate I think. In that instance it was fauna from a different planet but I still had the parent.
Plus he is a must have killing machine. Check NMS COORDS for "Hey guys, come over here and check out the worst thing ever!" so you can give proper credit.
Seems quite buggy. Full-on crashes to os on SeriesX. I had a base which I had to re-ecavate post recent update. Won't be building them like that again. Proper walls ftw. Pity as looked like a Batcave.

There is one on changing Pet Colours that's pretty good...
i can only hold about 6 eggs no matter where i store them backpack/ship/storage container at that point the pets wont lay eggs... anyone else getting this or is it just me
That is by design, you can only carry six as you only have 6 pet slots, and to hatch an egg you may need to remove a pet if you have all 6.

But if you want to, you need to disconnect from the internet and change the time, go in game hatch your eggs, and save the game, then exit and put the time back and reconnect to the internet... Don't blame me if it upsets any of your other games or in game events.

you should do an episode where you mutate 100 times a creature just to see what appens! that whould be crazy!
Each thing you do adds 20%, after 5 mutations I think there is no change... could be wrong.

@@notmichael2430 I did it with a Strider 10x and got the same result as doing it once. The strider got a shark like head... I have seen others get exactly the same results... t Rex grows horns and long fingers, crabs loose their claws and Diplos become rats... Seems broken to me

I'm tired of the same generenic two legged creatures, the wolve like creatures, armadillos etc...it's almost the same all the time, i wish they could bring a proper EXCLUSIVE update just for a huge overhaul of creatures overall.

Lots of things make them smaller... Ferrit dust I think being one... Just keep swapping stuff out and you will soon see decreasing, made my winged Stevie smaller.
