    Two Updates:
    •My review for the upgraded YoloBox Pro is here: ua-cam.com/video/Aa0s4-j7N3s/v-deo.html
    •Turns out that video quality when using Canon cameras can be improved by using an HDMI emulator like this: geni.us/QFwgym

    Hi Tom! Thanks for the video! A very unique angle that definitely adds perspective for any potential YoloBox customer! For the video quality, I think it might be somehow Cannon reason(as they are not traditionally strong on video processing technology.). When we found other customers streaming the mainstream video cameras like Sony and Panasonic, it'll look much better! You are welcomed to test with Sony or Panasonic. We are considering a redesign of the streaming logic(users don't need to login and creat a live stream to be able to see cameras and livestream), or we might simply add a monitoring mode. Hopefully the update will be released in a few more updates. Then you can definitely only use YoloBox as bright screen! As YoloBox is evolving fast!! A great way for YoloBox to be on your workflow is to output ATEM Mini Pro's HDMI out to YoloBox Input, thus it can replace your computer and Ecamm subscription in lots of use cases!(Ecamm takes a leraning curve and has cost!) It makes a very powerful combo! Check out Aaron's live test ua-cam.com/video/-qPJtqSkzu4/v-deo.html (his sound is a bit distorted as he uses a compressor!) Thanks again for the video!

      @@frankfengzhu I also have the Canon EOS R and the quality of the stream with the Yolobox is awful. I did 10 hours of streaming a sporting event today, 3 separate streams, 2 with the Yolobox and 1 without, the one without is amazing, so hard to understand how Canon video processing can be blamed in a 2k camera that streams fine with great quality any way, but through the Yolobox?
      I really, really love the functionality of the Yolobox, but buying a whole new camera system to make it viewable is not viable for me at this time. Please, please make it work with Canon. I even plugged in a cheap USB webcam and that looked amazing compared to the HDMI with my EOSR :-( I am getting paid to stream and Yolobox could take things to the next level......please help.

As much as I want to believe Yolo will do the trick for live-streaming hockey games, I am still seeing lots of legitimate issues raised on the FB forums in addition to your feedback here. I borrowed one from a distributor for testing. The build quality is great, it’s on the software side, there is place for improvement.
    The fact that it doesn’t support SD cards larger than 128 Gb is a bit strange.
    Nice to be able to play video from the SD card. Once you have added the card as a video source, you can only play one video. I might have missed how to add multiple files as video sources, so please let me know if you have a solution.
    For very specific situations, it is a great product. I won’t recommend it for my customers.
    The quality of the end result, is far from the quality you get from an ATEM Mini.

    Love from Europe ! Kilo Bits per Second .. .. I have just enough equipment to start, but lying on the bed, is harder or at least takes longer to get it done, but i will keep up preparing, because the world needs i gess, some people that is fed up and has nothing to loose . About the yolo.. some software adjustments, and oh men.. this guys if they approached the market, as first product. not perfect but fully functional... for 250, 300 € max, they would be out of stock, and as lower end, would be unbeatable, and they could atack the high end market, later, with a improved and more home studio orientaded.. i think! Ok..i think next firmware, will be improved, after you help them on feedback. Now i go to watch MotoGP.. this weekend in Portugal..where i live, and i don´t remember last time it rained, but unfortunately, for the race day on Sunday, and also friday and saturday, ..rain.GO, Miguel Oliveira!! I think Marc Marquez returns, after broken arm 3 cirurgies..

      That's an interesting idea. I'm sure there were logistical/financial reasons why it couldn't be done, but delivering a less expensive concept version, building a community around it, and then improving on it would have been super neat.

      @@tombuck ooooh. I have a question I've been meaning to ask.. what applications can you download in YoloLiv? Like you said, its an android devic.. does it have google play store? Or just predownloaded apps.. meaninh you can't download other apps? Games? Or apks for emulators?

    • @tombuck
      @tombuck  3 роки тому +1

      I believe it’s running a custom OS, so it’s very limited with no ability to download anything else or use it like a mini tablet.

    • @cjpreyes
      @cjpreyes 3 роки тому

      @@tombuck oooh alright! Was thinking of supposedly even trying to consider it just for an app that can only be streamed thru phone.. thanks for verifying.. that means.. I wouldn't be able to download it either. Plus its features might be better than the mini since some are a bit simple.. but but hope the video quality was better too. Or better yet I just hope the Atem can update their software and implement some of those ideas :)

    After this video did you find out if you could change the quality of the stream to match your studio HD setup?
    You should do a test (or the couple's table?) on this from a more remote location to see how it operates in a connection spot you don't know.
    Also, how's the screen brightness work when sitting in full sunlight?

    • @tombuck
      @tombuck  3 роки тому +1

      The screen brightness is ok, it really is a nice display., but full sun is a bit tough. As for quality, this is as good as I could get, which is definitely not the same as the studio setup 🤷🏻‍♂️

      Glad you're here! Equipment is such a broad topic, but I always recommend starting with what you've got and upgrading as your needs become apparent. When it's time to upgrade, definitely get the best you can afford without going into debt or destroying your bank account.

    Apparently there are quality problems with Canon and Nikon DSLRs which use an older HDMI protocol (h/t Robert Hamm ua-cam.com/video/uZfEFx2e7bc/v-deo.html).
    Here's a great compatibility list: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13SaIkYrhv3d3xWgaJ_UApAElvVOq8qln5DC4fcUFqbo/edit?usp=sharing

      @@tombuck 😬 My guess is they are still using a strange HDMI protocol. Hopefully Yolobox can fix on their end, but also Canon gets it together for future cameras!
