    Describe a vehicle.
Wheel covers, black plastic bumpers, Halogen headlights, non-adjustable passenger seat, 4 speaker radio, cloth interior, hard plastic door panels.
Is it a 90s Lada or 2000s base model Kia?
    No. It's a 2023 Ford for over $110,000.

Yes I think the most expensive diesel version of this van (before custom fitting) is just over $64K. So Ford are putting a $55K premium on the EV. That makes zero sense.

You're looking at a 10 year break-even point compared to the regular Transit. Doesn't make much sense to me. EV's make a lot of sense in certain applications, where the manufacturer is able to make the car feel 'worth it'. The Model 3 is a good example, it feels absolutely worth its price in terms of performance, technology, interior quality. As such, it sells like absolute hot cakes. Whereas something like this is directly comparable to it's petrol equivalent - there are no real performance, technology or interior enhancements. I mean it has HALOGEN headlights? As such its extremely hard to justify a 40k premium and likely wont be very successful.

    • @leoliu8617
      @leoliu8617 Рік тому +1

I can’t agree more. This just does not make sense, as a cargo van this has compromised load capacity in terms of height clearance and weight rating. As a full EV it is still built on old platforms and missing all the new EV technologies, on top of it there is a hefty price premium. I’d pick up a diesel version any day.

    So, so many comments here....
I guess I will restrict to two comments, one for the car, one for Paul.
    1) $100k for a Spartan electric van? Yes it may be cheaper than its competitors, but wow, for that coin I would like to see less hard scratchy plastic and actual LED headlights for safety.
2). I think it's great to see diverse reviews being done, away from the mainstream SUV/ute markets. But why did this review come about? I think this is the first Carexpert/Caradvice review I have seen that isn't a passenger or 4x4 ute.

As with most commercial vans , your eyes are completely off the road when looking at the dash. If the cabin is too quiet, it may induce sleeping or mind distractions.

I think an accountant is needed to determine if the e-Transit is worthwhile or not, because there's more to total cost of ownership than purchase price. With something like a Renault Traffic selling for maybe $65k that's 40k that needs to be covered, and I am unsure if all of that can be recouped by the cheaper running costs of the e-Transit alone. I've read some reports that Canberra is looking to set a zone in its CBD that is petrol/diesel-free and I can't believe that other cities won't follow at some stage with ever-increasing areas where ICE-vehicles are banned, so the move to electric vehicles might well be forced. One thing that irritates is the seeming necessity to add blue highlights to every electric car. Surely manufacturer CEO's have more maturity than this?

The best thing about electric vehicles is watchng people carry around a petrol generator after they realise there aren'rt enough chargers around, or they have to pay and line up for hours.,,,which kind of cancels out any green incentive people delude themselves with. The price is off the charts 📈
Seriously!! It is a commercial van for heavens sake. It’s not a luxury Mercedes Benz. Who in their right mind thought $110k staked up.
No wonder electric vehicles are not selling they are ludicrously overpriced. It needs to be at least $30k cheaper to have any hope. Also the range is hopelessly inadequate. Needs to be at least 450km +. Who want to be constantly charging the stupid thing. Ideally you want change it once & for it last 2-3 days before the next one.

When reviewing an EV and comparing sticker price to an ICE. You are doing a disservice by not mentioning the much lower maintenance cost to operate, and the lack of purchasing fuel. And since you have NET meter solar as an option for your source of electricity the bit of extra upfront cost is so quickly payed back. So since you are so detail oriented it would serve you well to inform your viewers properly. It pains me to see some viewers parroting the price is crazy etc. when there’s no effort made to examine the investment vs. The cost. My other EV costs the equivalent to my ICE vehicles to Getting 65,000km per tank of fuel at $0.005/km to drive using solar generated electricity.

Have a look on UA-cam how easily those door locks can be compromised. It's embarrassing and ford have known about it for decades.

Halogen lights or incandescent make Zero sense on any electric vehicle as they consume far more electricity than LEDs. So, why? Just - why Ford??
To be fair - all Vans should have a built-in dashcam. Probably all vehicles should in reality - 4K.
Also - Paul, you need to raise your seat up. You look like a small child at a large table.
The Raptor taking further to stop will be the tyres.
The reverse speed will be for safety. When fully laden you can’t see as well and can’t stop as quickly.
