Shoshana needs to make a comeback similar to Idina. Either a return to Broadway or a film or a new album, something to bring her back to the public eye. This kind of talent can't not be shared with the world.
Juan Ayala Producers have been trying. She proved in all her recent music showcases she has the celebrity to sell it. Its Shoshana that turns them down.
Read Shoshana Bean and clicked on the video w/o reading the title. Fell of my chair when I heard what music it was! Omg, I'm gonna die. Fell in love twice with the same video!
After I saw Lea do this song, I thought no one else could top it... But Shoshana just OWNED it. She puts such an ingeniously creative spin on everything she does, I cannot express how much this woman inspires me.
How I came here actually. I'm annoyed that I've never heard of her before and knew that she had to be doing something with that amazing voice. Definitely fits Broadway, absolutely stunning and powerful singing voice.
OMG I used to worship Idina, and I still respect her as an artist, BUT this woman is like a God!!! She sings circle around idina!!! Some one needs to write her her own show!! bet she wold of hit that last note at the Tony's.
Agreed. Idina is definitely a talented singer, but I personally don't care much for her voice and it bothered me listening to her sing Let It Go because I didn't feel like it was right for the song.
English3Muffin How do you figure that her voice wasn't right for the song when the song writers (Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez) wrote it specifically for Idina Menzel??
Robert Palmer Because whenever Idina sings the song live, she absolutely massacres the high note, and the rest of it is shaky at best. Sounds great when in a recording studio, but there is no way they wrote the song specifically for her voice because it is so clearly out of her range...
Here ya go - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let_It_Go_%28Disney_song%29 - If you look down where at the 'Background and Composition' section.. You'll see where it states - "Let It Go" is a power ballad in the key of A-flat major overall, but begins in the relative minor (F minor). The song is in quadruple meter, and has a fast tempo of around 137 beats per minute. The song's vocal range spans from F3 to E♭5.[11] Anderson-Lopez and Lopez specifically wrote the song for Idina Menzel, referring to her as "one of the most glorious voices of Broadway and an icon in musical theater." Menzel's vocal range was taken under consideration during the music's composition. [12]" - You're welcome.
Robert Palmer Interesting how they don't actually mention Idina's range in the article, just that they "took it into consideration." But in any case, you can show me all the articles that you want, but try and find me a performance in the original key where she doesn't massacre the high note (and don't bother with the excuses like it was cold out or John Travolta just messed up her name), cuz those don't tend to convince me as excuses for a horrible performance... I know I'm being super harsh because she can have a pretty decent voice at times (loved her singing at the super bowl), but she keeps trying to sing this song in the original key and it is clearly not working for her! I'm just saying, Shoshana Bean's voice suits this song perfectly, Idina's does not.

This was the moment when I really knew there was no love lost and wished Idina and Shoshana had a better working relationship. A duet with them would be amazing
I love Sho and her voice but I don't like this version. It's tooooooo freaking sloooooow (I know, that makes it even harder to sing but still...). Although Sho especially nailed this part: 3:11 - 3:19. GOOSEBUMPS!
I admit she's definitely got some lungs but she has no idea how to use them correctly. She doesn't know how to reign in her natural power so it comes out breathy and forced. You could tell she was uncomfortable with any note less than a forte. True skill and talent has to be controlled and her breath control sucks to be honest. Performing is not always about pushing your limits just to wow an audience. True talent is being able to take a piece of music and execute it with grace and proper technique. Idina Menzel is a master at this, which is why this woman will never be better than her.
Abbey, Idina is amazing, obviously. However, Shoshana kills it. This is not a competition and the ladies are not making it one (the fans however, are.) Anyway, Shoshana definitely knows how to perform correctly. Have you seen her live, on broadway or listen to her various albums? She is definitely gifted and skilled at her craft. Don't downplay her. Check out her original works and let me know what you think :)
Abbey Kat Idina is actually pretty well known for lacking breath control. [She's even voiced concern before hitting notes during performances. Saying "uh oh" and the like. There's even one video of this on UA-cam.] Any vocalist using proper training would never have such an issue, certainly not as often as Idina does. Shoshana is an absolute powerhouse, and I say this as someone who isn't even that huge of a fan, but I certainly respect her talents and will seek our performances that contain her belting and/or hitting notes in a high register; she's done a whistle tone WITH vibrato - not an easy feat. That certainly calls for breath control. You know what also does? Riffs and runs, which (again) Shoshana can execute easily. I can understand your not enjoying this performance much -- doesn't seem like she did a lot of prep. Any sets I've heard her do are pretty flawless, clearly well rehearsed. But hey, maybe I'm wrong. Anyway! Like Neeko said, it's not a competition at the end of the day. No vocalist will ever sing it exactly like Idina, mostly because performers like to deliver their own take - theatre performers especially do their best to not copy. Shoshana "pushed to the limit" (I say this chuckling, because what you hear here is not her limit) because she felt it appropriate to the song. The title is "Let It Go" after all. And that's what Else does, no? Making freaking castles, long-winding staircases, etc. etc. Totally showing off, right? lol ;) On another note, but also going back to something I mentioned -- do yourself a favor and abandon the preconceived notion that performers have to be better than someone else. They just do what they do. I noticed myself becoming this way, and I stopped watching a certain show that was definitely at fault for putting me in that mindset, and now I listen to whatever I want without any judgments whatsoever; listening to Jenny Lewis one day and Joyce DiDonato the next. I appreciate both of their voices equally.
overthemoo Oh, similarly, to show I do appreciate Idina's talents ... I will seek out performances of hers when she's in a lower register because she nails those songs. So good. Selfishly wish she sang more songs in her lower range.
LMAO!!!! Come back to me when Idina successfully hits that Eb5 at the end of the song like how flawlessly Shoshana used her mix to hit in this. Till then lol
Abbey Kat Yeah... This woman will never be as good as Idina Menzel... Which is a bit of an odd statement, considering that she was the second person to play Elphaba on Broadway, right after Idina left the show.Idina Menzel's technique is shaky. She's screlted all the way to the bank, but the same time she's screlted her voice away. I have respect for Idina, but her live performances are showing an obvious decline in technique and ability.
What a beautiful HEALTHY voice!

What a superb and gracious performer. Excellent.
That last chorus gave me so much life.
I feel like she should be a Disney princess or queen like how idina was. Her voice is crying worthy
Shoshana Bean - does every Idina Manzel hit way better than Idina Manzel ever could.
+accompanist603
You just said what everyone is thinking.
No way!
Manzel 😂
@@iAmMadeOfSoup go to bed
Agreed. It's because her singing technique is healthier and Idina's range is now shot from years of really bad pushing.
Read Shoshana Bean and clicked on the video w/o reading the title. Fell of my chair when I heard what music it was! Omg, I'm gonna die. Fell in love twice with the same video!
YEEEESSS HONEY YES!!!!!! Love love love Shoshana Bean!

Same here. I also didn't knew her before. I'm glad I do now :)
Check out her other songs. She's an amazing writer too!
Okay, I'll have a look! :)
Get it Shoshana! That riff you added on "past" was awesome!

Jeez, Shoshana Bean! You are killin' this. So proud of you.
Are you insane? She blows Idina out of the freaking water. This woman is literally flawless.

Best cover
Ugh I love her
Are you kidding???
Nope!
Irrelevant comment, but I love you Buckley. You're awesome. =)
Marvinglz Well that was completely uncalled for... Between the two of you, I wouldn't say Buckley is the one making anybody look stupid.
You know you are properly GAY when literally all the videos you go on Buckley has commented on!
Fraser N LOL That's fantastic. You both have great taste then!
She's really excellent.
OMG! Her Chandelier cover is AMAHZING!!!!!
It brought me here!
And I only looked her up because of Bianca Delrio!
Love love love xoxo
Breathtaking
On the bridge she tapped into elphaba! did you see the hand gestures from no good deed!?
SHE IS MY FAV
BEAUTIFUL
YES!!! This is who should have voiced Elsa. I don't hate Idina, but she wasn't right. Love Shoshana!!!
Chandelier remains to be one of my fave covers but this is amazing..thank you
I love Idina, but I could see Shoshana doing the singing, and Idina doing the voice for elsa, if there was a second frozen movie.
Phenomenal. I love her!!!! I saw her cover with Superfruit, amazing!!!!
WHY HASN'T SHE DONE A DISNEY CARTOON YET.... IT'S RIDICULOUS!!!!!!
I love Sho & Idina BOTH, because they both bring similar vocal talents, but COMPLETELY different interpretations.
Why would anyone ever dislike this video!?
She has GOT to be Elsa at some point when the Frozen Broadway comes out!!! :D
Shoshana will never return to Broadway. She left it behind and the comfort of it after Tyler died.
Sean Yates that was more than a decade ago. She still sings. Seems like she's getting back
@@seanyates5769 she came back :))
huh...she appears to have just nailed that. Live. Funny.
Imagine that!

Not bad. Speed it up a bit can't ya?
