It seems easy for her because she has good technique. People associate high notes with straining nowadays that they don't really know how a healthy notes sound like. 😂
That is too much to say..the philippines being a powerhouse of singers has quite a number of singers who can very well stage a decent performance there..but maybe you meant she is the only one popular enough to be performing there..
I like Idina’s version very much. Heard it a few million times thanks to the youngest member of our family but Lea’s version is even better in my humble opinion.
IDINA'S MUCH BETTER! because she really felt the song and those high notes! and Idina's voice is powerful. and clearer imo. and im filipino too like lea but i really like Idinas version alot
I've had a running debate with several people who believe that Lea sang this song in a different key than Idina did for the movie soundtrack.... So I just did an experiment. I played the movie soundtrack in one window (Idina), and this version by Lea in the other window. I kept pausing and adjusting so that they were, quite literally, singing the same lyrics at the same time. Guess what I discovered? THEY SANG EXACTLY -- AS IN EX ACT LY -- THE SAME NOTES. The difference between them is this (sorry, Idina fans): Lea's voice is technically superior and more rich that it sounds deeper. It's not. Trust me. I have a great ear for music, and THEY SANG THE SAME NOTES. Lea sang them more ... fully. Idina's voice in the upper register gets a bit shrill and nasally; Lea's, well, it never changes; to use the vernacular, Lea sang the shit out of this song. That should settle this ridiculous suggestion that Lea can't hit the high notes. Do people not remember she played Kim in Miss Saigon, and Eponine in Les Mis????? GEEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. Enough, already.
You just need a piano app to hear that this version is in the key of G, while the original soundtrack is in the key of A♭, which means it's lower by a semitone. If you don't believe me, use a tuner.
Definitely same key..just different tone to voices...it can be hard to tell for the layperson...for example...Idina has more power as well in some parts, so can seem "more"
Actually, one doesn't need to be an expert on the subject to be able to distinguish pitch (which, by the way, shouldn't be confused with power or loudness). If people did as I did, with a piano app, they would've reached the same conclusion that I have. For example, "I don't care / What they're going to say" (1:21) corresponds, in this version, to the notes (D5, B4, A4 / G4, G4, D5, B4, G4), the last three notes being a descending G major triad. Also, check this other version by Lea (watch?v=dgjd7FcOhFA) in the original key of A♭. The difference is crystal clear :)
That's why for me , Broadway singers are far better than concert singers. They're using their natural singing voice without any help from the sound people to adjust their voice. Lea's voice did change a lot from her Miss Saigon days but she just made it much more better helping her broaden her singing repertoire. Lea, Ramin, Sierra, Alfie, John Owen Jones Hadley Fraser to name a few.
Lea, Jed Madela and Charice who is now Jake Zyrus, are really the prides of the Philippines. As a Thai fan, I really love to see the three great singers sing together on the same stage.
@@danymerilles5914 Arnel Pineda isn't as good as he used to be, he lost his voice for a quite some time now. Most likely cause of the constant concerts with Journey straining his vocal chords. If I were to give a ranking based on my personal opinion/preference, it's probably Lea #1, Morisette #2 and #3 Charice (before turning Jake) Morisette for me though.
Sorry, but I need to justify Menzel right here. Comparing their voices won't be good after all. They were both grew up in musical theaters and still have their own singing style. No offense, Lea fans...This song is literally made for Idina without doubt. During making the film (FROZEN), once the song is written by the Lopezs, they changed the whole original story of the film because of the way Idina sung it. Originally, it's a villain song but Idina make it elegant and the original theme was not suited for her voice. I love Lea's version of this song, even it's not on tempo (I mean it's a bit slower from the start). But her voice is not strong enough (I mean, come on...you should hear Idina more on her early stage of her career.) Well, that's her style of singing and she made it beautiful. While Idina's live version (yes, it's nasally and also on lower key) still manage to make the song perfect for her voice (of course, she's the original). Lea's version is crystal clear, as always. Idina's version is stronger than any version of this song. If you want to see Idina sings this song on original key (though she's still straining on the high note in this time and I know she don't have a good vocal technique but now she can hit it effortless during her concerts on Idina:live) here: ua-cam.com/video/6IeBKtuEhzQ/v-deo.html
Wow!! what can I say, better than the original version 😀😳. She has great control & the clarity of words just amazing. It doesn’t hurt my ear unlike the original. 😐😬
Is it just me? Whenever I watch lea sing she puts a smile in my face. Her range is amazing... I won’t even touch the clarity of her voice and diction... perfect
Listened to this and Idina Menzel's performance at Disney's 60th anniversary. Same key on both songs. What's the problem? Why is it hard for some people to accept that? They just have different colorations and textures to their voices. Lea's voice is darker and warmer in her middle notes down. Idina's voice is brighter and tinnier. Idina usually sings in the upper registers, with a higher larynx placement, and she spreads her mouth wider, so she has a more "shouty" sound---something expected because Idina has a beltier style. Lea's style is less beltier and she has a more "refined" sound even in her high notes. Nothing wrong with any of that. Both top-notch singers, both internationally-acclaimed. Let's all be happy for them, and for us, who live at a time when we can enjoy these singers' talents.
Idina has more textur in her voice but Lea has better control. The last high note in this sounds phenomenal. Something Idina can't do because as you said yeah she sounds a bit shouty
Wow first time I saw a solo concert performer with no ear peace . Amazing that she can manage to be on tune while the orchestra was just close behind her.

I sooooo agree there 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Truly agreeee
my vocal coach auntie read your comment, and she couldn't agree more..
Well it seems easier because she lowered the key 1 note and did not belt in chest voice like idina but used headvoice to sing the high notes.
Disney should cast Lea as every Disney princess till the end of time!
Amazing voice!
