Yeah, she always does that. The volume on the mic is high for sure but it is so far away she HAS TO project because otherwise it wouldn't be picked up by the mic
You all prolly dont give a shit but does anybody know a method to log back into an instagram account?? I was stupid lost the login password. I would appreciate any help you can give me!
This just melts my heart every time. You felt Shoshana was literally singing to Kristin. Shoshana has this rare ability to take a song, personalize it, and styles it to make you feel like the words she’s singing about are a documentary of emotions.
There's a clip from Kristen's last Wicked performance of "For Good" and it's really emotional both Idina and Kristen make the performance very personal.
To the Sho Haters, people must remember Shoshana is a Soprano. Notice how in the shared vocals she is singing the upper note and Kristin is singing on the down note. People forget that Shoshana was casted for physical reasons. She read as Idina extremely well. Her voice was also entirely different. Shoshana could have easily played Glinda.
I don’t understand your comment. Idina is a mezzo-soprano and Shoshana a soprano so it should be easier for Shoshana to sing the upper notes than Idina !? 🤔
@@liltiib430 mezzo-sopranos can project more in the middle notes, sopranos can obviously hit those notes but with lower volume, their voice (sopranos) tends to go higher key instead of maximising the volume in that part of the range . So shoshana did a perfect job harmonizing with kristine, although keeping that tone which it's not natural for her.
Valerio Conigliaro Yeah that’s what I thought, she did pretty well harmonizing with Kristin ! Even though Shoshana is a soprano she definitely is very good with her low register 👌🏻
Ashleigh Marie Mezzo Soprano and Soprano are different Voice Classifications. In classical music, There is numerous classifications of Mezzos and numerous classifications of Sopranos. They are different voices. Even in a standard choir. There’s 6 basic voice classifications Bass, Baritone, Tenor, Alto, Mezzo-Soprano, and Soprano. I’ll repeat my prior statement, Shoshana was cast as Elphaba for her likeness to Idinas physical presence NOT her voice. She has even talked about how she almost had permanent vocal damage because of the strain of having to belt those lower and middle notes. You will always notice Shoshana now sings in more of a riff style because it’s healthier for her voice to riff belt.
I mean Shoshana is there to support Kristin... after all, Kristin is literal royalty. Shoshana can sing anything and sound amazing. This song is always Kristin’s though. She’s the iconic GA-Linda. ;)
Sho is a great story teller, everytime she sang its like she tells you story from her perspective which is good and you do feel it I really want to see her performing live And kristin is good as always, i love seeing her stay humble all the time
Magical. They seem old friends that couldn't wait to sing this song together. Kristin flawless as always, and Shoshana...WOW. I didn't miss Idina at all, and this is the best compliment one could possibly get. But I love Shoshana every single time she sings, so... Thank you for this duet. Hope to see more of these two precious women!
Never heard this pairing, so excited, Kristin is a legend, Shoshana has one of THE best voices I have ever heard. She sang this to Kristen with so much emotion.
I’ve watched this over and over. I truly believe this was the most heartfelt rendition of For Good. Shoshana definitely had a moment because singing this with the woman that started the show that changed her life. It is very emotional. Shoshana has a deep respect for Idina and Kristin. They said yes to this script and gave the blueprint for hundreds of actresses. This for good is every replacement thanking them for saying Yes.
This is sooo poetic between these two because had Kristin not left, the show never would have had a reason to replace Glinda and Sho would have found a different ensemble gig. Sho really was one of the few up and coming stars that had Kristins frame with Idinas likeness . sho would not have auditioned for Glinda and The producers never would have met her .Sho was only really auditioning for Soprano roles up to that point and production really saw something different in her. They saw someone that could lead a show. They saw the ensemble member that could handle leading a show with just her talent. This moment is so special and unique for them. It truly only takes 1 person.
I think the irony of this is that this is the first time the “Glinda” Voice was lowered because the “Elphaba” Voice has a higher soprano tone This actually shows off how much of a soprano Sho is.
I'll say one thing Shoshana seems to enjoy herself every time she sing she always smiling. Absolutely brilliant from both singers Kristin is pure magic. Love this one of the best duets ever.
I love how happy they both look to be sing together its so cute there voices go so good together and when did Kristin color her her hair pink I love it
Newsflash: How far the mic is from the singer has absolutely no bearing on the singer's power or lack thereof. It all depends on the mic and how loud it is set.
Not really. The singer's "projection" does have an impact on proper mic placement, indeed even on the choice of what mic to use. Just boosting the gain on the mic adds noise and potential "hum". The ideal is to have one "safe" (no noise, no hum) setting and adjust the distance from the vocalist accordingly. Then, if necessary, ride the fader to compensate. This generally is not needed with professionals like these amazing women.
@@shawnd8778 As I wrote above, proper mic placement for a vocal performance, either singing or spoken word, is entirely dependent on the performers vocal projection and the characteristics of the mic itself.
They need to fire the sound guy because Chenoweth’s was way too loud and Shoshana’s was way too quiet. But hey, the performance was great between the two it’s just the stupid microphone volume.
I was just about to comment this! What the check was up with that?? Kristin jad her Mic below her waist and it still picked her up clear as day and Shoshana was practically eating her Mic and I could barely hear her :(( otherwise this was an epic performance and a pairing I have always wanted to see
Chenoweth likes to hold her microphone half a mile away and Bean likes hers closer. Chenoweth holding a microphone is a sound man's nightmare. I think whoever the sound person was did an amazing job of keeping levels as close as they were without any feeding back.
Ok, I love me some Sho - but who made that DRESS! All the puckers on the side stitching, and in the front! Good lord. Don't they know you can't use a half loop stitch on satin backed crepe!!! (Legally Blonde reference, ok?)
Kristin putting the microphone like two meters away and still producing _dat_ Sound™
NotAName yeah, its called having a great sound man.
@@JoJo-bm5rx No, it is called "projection", but having a great sound man is always helpful.
Uhm actually her mic volume is always up she prefer it that way
Always doing that
And that’s on her opera training!!!!
Kristin held her mic so far from her face and still projecting her voice loud and clear. One of the best singer of all time.
You can change mic gains. Could be either or her mic may be louder than sho
Tadiwa N she does that every performance I think she just has a loud projected trained voice
Yeah, she always does that. The volume on the mic is high for sure but it is so far away she HAS TO project because otherwise it wouldn't be picked up by the mic

Shoshana Bean might be the most expressive, singing actress to come along in years! Someone write this woman an original musical role.
THANK YOU

Update: Tony Awards tonight and she's nominated.

Kristin holding the mic 2 meters away from her face and she still sounds like right from the cast album. Her voice is honestly so amazing
Tears, just tears. You could totally tell that Shoshana was singing to Kristin and the sentiment was so moving!! What a performance. I loved it!!
Yeah, I know right? I noticed that too, and they seem so happy for being together again!
When Shoshana started sobbing and Kristen was just like 🥺 oh no
I can’t imagine how sick to death Kristen must be of singing this song lol. But oh god do I love that woman.

@Shoshana - that dress! Epic!
Literally sobbing 😭😭😭😭
Kristin looks like an amazingly elegant swan about to take flight back to the timeless, ageless, Fairytale Dreamland.
Kristin does NOT EVEN need a mic. Voice of an ABSOLUTE ANGEL. 😇
Literally crying right now. And I know I am not the only one here.
Hi.. I love Kristin Chenoweth with her beautiful singing voice! It really doesn't matter whoever she sings For Good with! 💖
such a precious intimate moment between them.
Will this song ever stop making me cry?
My favorite Glinda and my favorite Elphaba. Crazy Great!

can we discuss Kristin "Coloratura" Chenoweth singing the low part in this duet?
That's how it's written. Glinda is the lower Harmony in this song. They trade harmonies throughout the show.
