I’m not graphic designer and I don’t really want to study it, but its amazing how you can create this kind of works with simple tools. Thank you for your video, congratulations pal.
Helpful tutorial, thank you. When you designated the document as Print, I was hoping it would include front, spine, and back. Getting the graphics to blend nicely between those three components can be a challenge.
Brilliant Video. I have been given the task to design our Charity company Newsletter and your design tips will hopefully reach my brain cells for our first christmas release ! Thanks..
I really enjoyed following along with this tutorial, but it took me forever to find the perfect food photo. I must have changed my mind 20 times. Will post my attempt on Reddit shortly.
You and me both, Nicola. As a matter of fact, searching for these photos and finding the right fonts takes a considerable time of any design project - especially if you then also need to check with your customer if you like that. That why i sit down with my customers to find the right pic together. saves a ton of mails ;)
Would love to see a part 2... creating a 3D look of the book for marketing purposes. (Ever seen the ones where a stack of the books is laying down so you see the spines, and one upright on an angle? Its awesome look.)
Once you have your cover image, there are a number of generators and templates online for creating bundles and mock-ups. Check out covervault.com/ and diybookcovers.com/ as a starting point.
Thanks a lot for this tutorial! It was very helpful and easy to follow :) My question is: What about the back of the book? I was trying to upload a cover to amazons kdp for a hardcover book and cover + back seem to be expected as one for that. Do you know what I mean? How do I do that?
Interesting tutorial. I create my own book covers, but I usually use 3d rendered images for the actual artwork, with any layout.post rendering fixes in Affinity Photo.
Dear Olivio , please tell where I will get free photo book templets. please make video on how to design a photobook with affinity publisher.! thanks in advance. wishing you Merry Christmas in advance.
Sure, you can export them as a jpg or png to show them on any page. however i would place that into a picture with the right dimensions of that website to show it exactly the way i want. for example images on instagram are square, while they are rectangle on facebook
publisher is a layout software. so if you also want to design the rest of the book inside or create text over many pages with footnotes and chapters, publisher can help you with that
Affinity look so promising but I haven’t been able to create anything with this software is such a disappointment that I’m wondering whether or not my software is faulty
Do you know how to resize an image with specific measurements? For example, I want to resize a large image to 256 x 400. How can I do that on Affinity Photo?
Very inspiring and full of little precious hints, Oli.

Happy i could help, Marsha :)
The photo you used is in RGB will you change it to CMYK before you print it. Or let the printer change it.
Thanks a lot for this tutorial! It was very helpful and easy to follow :)

Thank you, Eric :)

Have a look at Canva. they have hundreds of book cover designs youi can use
You can upload the design in social medias? For example, to show the cover on instagram?
Sure, you can export them as a jpg or png to show them on any page. however i would place that into a picture with the right dimensions of that website to show it exactly the way i want. for example images on instagram are square, while they are rectangle on facebook
@@OlivioSarikas thanks!
So, the cover can be made in Affinity Photo, as well? Is there a reason to buy Publisher?
publisher is a layout software. so if you also want to design the rest of the book inside or create text over many pages with footnotes and chapters, publisher can help you with that
Can I use Affinity photo for the same purpose?
Yes, for the cover you can. For the Layout of a full book with all pages i would not suggest it though
Lol as a fellow designer I knew the "in very very extreme circumstances you can use a third font" was coming from a mile away haha
The good old golden Rules. Don't we all get them hammered in at school 😋🙏
Hi, when I try to insert the picture, it doesn't stay inside the limit of the paper and it's very small. Help?
... and that is why you always watch the video until the very end. You explained it at 12.45! Great video btw...
Affinity look so promising but I haven’t been able to create anything with this software is such a disappointment that I’m wondering whether or not my software is faulty
very nice and inspiring tutorial as usual.
Thank you, nadeem :)
Do you know how to resize an image with specific measurements? For example, I want to resize a large image to 256 x 400. How can I do that on Affinity Photo?
actually i would simply create a 256 x 400 canvas and then drag the image into it. Much simpler and hustle free :)
Gradient beard 👍
Lol - 50 shades of fading out ;)
Very inspiring and full of little precious hints, Oli.

@@OlivioSarikas Bin 1/8 Austrier - nicht vergessen, Herr Artifizialrat!
How do you add the back cover in this case?
How do you add a spine and a back cover in this tutorial?
Please more 😉
Thank you, Formel, i'm planing to do so. :)
I'd like to do this in Designer....can you show me how, with a back cover too.
Clearly !
