      Oh myself also.
Wish there was a person I could actually speak / reply into.
I'm so very old now and my friends and wife are no longer
      By my side...
      Sometimes with a
1 oz shot of whiskey I return to this book.
      I listen every night.
It's the only place that I can go to where I can find thoughtful Ideas
From the hearts of loving people and and my long lost little Dog
      Ruby ,
And the Courage of her little Puppy Bear , my son , that Crushes my Soul because Im no longer can find them after I got out of the Hospital.
Truely I wish that there was a Wizard I could ask for Forgiveness for
      Losing them.

@@danielhutchinson7115 don't think so much about losing them, think about how happy their lives were with you. We really have so little control over our lives, although we have the illusion that we control and run everything, we just have to accept the things that come our way. Try to do a kindness every day, to someone or something. Pay them back for the love they gave you.

A magnificently narrated story. A far cry and a cut above the 1939 movie. Not a criticism of the film but a tribute to the spoken tale and all the nuances in each characters development. I have been spinning yarns and oral history and relish the facial reactions and questions a well told narrative can generate.I love listening to these stories.😢

The original book, THE WIZARD OF OZ, was published in 1900. The original storm WAS a cyclone. In 1939, the movie changed it to a tornado. Don't troll in ignorance.

    • @ShawnTaylor-mw9tr
      @ShawnTaylor-mw9tr 10 місяців тому

Well if you say so but given that cyclones are a tropical storm originating over warmer oceans and Kansas is in the middle of "tornado alley" or the dry mid west it certainly makes more sense that Dorothy would presumably be caught in a tornado... But I really couldn't care anyway.
I thought it was crap ... Enjoy

I think I read this as a child, that was a LONG time ago. So I started this up. I remember the movie very, very well and I was curious the difference, yeah as usual, it's a lot. I understand you couldn't really put it all in, but it would of been an even better movie if they did. So many NEW places and "people" that never made it into the movie. I rarely recommend things, but I recommend this, it was a great experience.

Must have been altered. Originally it was the witch of the south that Dorothy met. The witch of the North was the most powerful witch but hadn’t been heard from in an extremely long time.
Also the Tin Man wasn’t transformed. His ax was cursed to cut him up instead. Every time it cut off a body part he replaced it with a tin part until somehow he was completely made of tin.

This is a small item that I feel I must bring up. At age 5 i saw on television the 1939 MGM film Classic, The Wizard of Oz. The witch terrified me, but I was instantly hooked. For the next 20 years I learned, red, studied, and collected all things Oz. From the original cannon of 40 books, right on through to all the other books, films, plays and TV series made past and present about Oz.
Which brings me to the Tin Woodsman's story. He was indeed made of flesh and blood. And the lazy Munchkin woman did make a deal with the Wicked Witch of the East. And she did enchant the Woodmans Axe. When the Woodman went to use his axe he would make a few good strokes. And the Axe slipped and cut off his right arm. This may sound grousom, but keep in mind nothing dies or can be killed in Oz. Things can only be destroied and or changed. So the Woodman was not badly hurt, but very sad to have the loos of his arm. He decides to see him friend the tinsmith. The tinsnith makes a brand new arm out of tin, and attaches it to the Woodman. Very happy the woodman now goes back to chopping wood. But again the axe slips and curs off his left arm. And again it is replaced by another arm made of tin The same is true for his legs, first tne right, then the left chopped off and replaced with tin. Because the woodsman still has his heart, he continues to love the Mnchkin girl. Furious the witch of the East enchantes the axe one more time. This time when the axe slips it chops the woodman body into tiny pieces and scatters them far and wide through out the forest. The Woodman feels that this Will surely be the end of him. As he lays on the ground in the forest. As luck would have it his friend the tin Smith happened by, And upon seeing the woodsman gathered up his arms and legs and head and carried them back to his shop. The tin Smith was so skilled that he was able to make a new body and a new head for the woodsman. Making him a new man, But sadly the Tin Smith did not have the skill or knowledge to create a heart for the woodsman. Soon he forgot all about the Munchkin girl, and focused on chopping the trees. Untill ine day he got caught in the rain. His joints rusted solid, the woodsman was frozen in place. But of course this is not the end. As we know Dorthy and the Scarecrow rescue the Tinman. And they go to see Oz together .

Based off what we know solely from book one, i am convinced Oz used hia ventriloquism to deliberately lure Todo away jist long enough for him to make his escape seem like an accident. Please, no spoilers!
