Awesome video as always, my friend! One item that you did not list that I can't go anywhere without is a pen. I hate using community pens at restaurants and banks and such.
Thanks man! Yes, and for sure, the pen makes it's appearance in the intermediate video, next in this series! Quite a few more things will be added as well hehe
IMHO, edc basics are wallet, keys, knife, pen and phone. Your phone can also carry the roll of your flashlight and timepiece, you can expand from there to fit YOUR personal needs. Your edc and fingerprints are just for you. Subscribed.
Well said sir! Thank you for your comment and sub! I could go with the phone being my timepiece, but I'd still have to have my flashlight. A phone light is just a poor substitute, but makes a great backup light. Same concept for a knife and multi tool, which some call redundant, 2 is 1 and 1 is none.
I work for a bank so trust me on this one. Look up rfid card sleeves or get an rfid wallet or wrap your cards in 2 layers of aluminum foil. 1 layer of even cheap dollar store aluminum foil reduces the range of a card skimming attack from 18 inches down to 6 inches and 2 layers brings it down to .14 inches with a very powerful device.
My edc currently is on and off body in a viktos upscale 3 sling bag and includes uninteresting phone/wallet/keys/casio/small pry bar, glock 43, benchmade 945, cold steel 4-max elite, sog powerpint, a kjv Bible. The ka-bar swabbie is an occasional day carry.
Solid list, brother. Im glad I stuck around for he Arcade at the end, too! Looing forward to seeing your EDC essential categories as we go further down the rabbit hole!
Good video for the just getting started phase of EDC, but key organization a part of EDC too, like a Keybar, Keysmart or just a lanyard. Keys are also one of those things 99% of people have to carry along with a wallet & phone.
Great video. As long as your EDC is limited to on person carry and pockets you're ok. When you start looking at pouches and backpacks for your daily carry kit, you are screwed XD
Hey thanks for the comment! Stay tuned, we'll get into packs in another video. This is all pocket carried, but you could use a holster or pocket carrier if that's more your style.
Edc ( everyday carry ) is NOT limited to ONLY knives and guns. Everyone EDC’S, even non knife users. Phone, wallet, pen, sidearm. Even non knife and gun users/owners Phone, wallet/purse makeup, keys and pen. Small backpack, various survalist’ish gear packed, phone, wallet etc you see? The TERM EDC was made popular just only several years ago and BOOOOM, This crazy trend on everyone buying knives and this whole Spyderco Status on tik tok amongst teenies, kinda like they did with If you don’t have iphone you ain’t ballin lol.
Before watching the video, I am guessing based on my experience what the 5 items would be. Flashlight, a Victorinox bit kit, pliers, multitool and a lighter. I can’t count the amount of times that these items have come in handy for myself and those around me.
@@AverageGearReview awesome brother..I am glad I found you as well..I just wish I would have found you earlier because I really like this kind of content.., I could have been watching since last year.. but anyway how many knives and flashlight and multi tools do you own?
Thanks man I appreciate it! To be honest, I don't have a huge collection of anything yet lol. And a lot of stuff I have is put away, packed into bags or kits so I really don't know! That's bad I know
Disappointed that a wallet and watch were even included as “edc”, what next? Socks, underpants, trousers🤦🏻♂️, you got it right with phone, like the wallet, watch, socks etc, they go without saying. Knife wise, nothing is more innocuous than a Swiss Army knife, it could also be your multitool of choice. Want classy look for office or evening? Alox versions. Flashlight perfect, lumintops are an excellent choice. Avoid anything rechargeable, built in obsolescence, double or triple a batteries are way better.
Thanks for the comment man! Yeah, like I said in the video, everyone carries different stuff. This is mainly for beginners to the space. Love SAKs, great for office type areas or dressier occasions.
There are legalities you have to remember with knives, depending on where you are. For example, in the UK your knife blade must be 3in or less, and must not be locking. If searched by the Police, you may face arrest if your knife does not comply.
Thanks for the comment! Great point! I sometimes forget that because in the US, and especially in the southern states, we can carry pretty much whatever we want. I know a lot of states are different, other countries especially so yeah know the laws where you are.
Screw the stupid laws. Unweaponized items never hurt anyone. Liberals have zero common sense. If you walk by a broken tree branch or a rock and dare pick it up, you will be arrested. See how that works.

I get what you're saying. Often the laws that are meant to protect people, end up turning them into victims. That's why active shooters most often choose large venues, schools, churches, gun free zones. They're not looking for opposition, just victims. These laws of restriction, when it comes to weapons, often make criminals out of every day, honest people. You just have to look at Mr. Dicken. Stopped an active shooter but faced charges for carrying a gun in a prohibited area.
I always try to carry this "essential" edc gear, but there's no point if you use it one a year. I have several access cards in my wallet, so RFID blocking wallet is not an option. As a knife collector I have a knife always with me. I carry 3 flash drives, kindle and nail clippers.
I just can't stay at 5. I have to do 6. For me, everything you mentioned is non optional.... But 1 more. You've got to have something to write with. A pen is essential.... Great video! You've earned a sub for sure!
@AverageGearReview I understand that, but EDC is nothing new. All people have always had stuff that they Carry Every Day. Because it was stuff they actually used. It just never had a name until a few years ago. EDC is a marketing term designed and intended to sell people stuff by making them think that there are certain items that "A Man" should be carrying or else they are missing out on being a real man.. EDC is about selling people over price stuff to carry around and show off.. There is nothing my $ 400 titanium Zero Tolerance that I got as a gift can do on a daily basis that my $ 50 Kershaws that I've carried for 25 years can't. Except I will actually carry the $50 knife because I'm not afraid of losing it, and don't mind spending $50 on a perfectly functional tool, that I realize is going to take a certain amount of abuse. Since I will and do actually use it on a daily basis. It's just not as impressive when I pull it out, and someone who actually knows the difference happens to see it.. Nobody needs a $400+ knife, a $100 lanyard bead, or a $ 140 titanium pry bar that will only ever get used to open craft beers. These are not essential or must-have items. If there is something I need on a daily basis, I already carry it. And did long before some internet influencer gave it a catchy name. If I needed a video to tell me that I should be carrying it and why I need to be carrying it. There is a really good chance that I didn't need it. Sure, maybe there's a new multi tool on the market, and an honest review of such things is always appreciated. Other than that, you're just trying to sell people stuff. Or boost your channel.
Oh man, I know right?! Me too, as I almost always carry an extended EDC pack, sling, etc. This was just a very basic starter type EDC kit. I hope that came across in the video. I'm going to get into some of that in the intermediate video! Thanks for the comment man!

Dude, I need you to send me one of the GOAT tools fr! I want one of those so bad, I've been lusting for one since I first saw the concept! I'm so jealous! Phone as a wallet, yeah I can totally see that in todays world. Apple pay and G pay make it easy to leave the cards behind, heck my watch can do it lol. Love the Viperade VE 10 man, all their stuff is great! And what is the flashlight of choice for you?
