Great stuff DeBruhl. Alain won the 1989 championship because he was more consistent driver even tho Dennis didn't like him and treated him as number 2. This this only time in motorsport history where winning team appealed their own driver's grand prix win, Suzuka 89.

I think it would have been more to do with the Honda relationship with Senna

What a whole load of horse crap. Prost was consistent in losing out to Senna in 1989, he could not beat Senna on track even ONCE and only won because of extreme unreliability for Senna.
And the team protested Suzuka 1989 because Benetton won the race instead of Mclaren. Not necessarily because Senna didnt win but because they had a win taken away.

@@theiceman7590 not true, Prost was more consistent driver even in 1988, he beat Senna on points. And when Prost really wanted to be quick he can, like beating Senna for pole and for the win on his home French GP race.

@@HakenE30 My friend, Senna was more consistent in 1989. Every race he finished, he finished in first place except at the Hungaroring. Prost on the other hand had four wins, many second places along with some thirds, fourths and I think 5th/6th in Mexico. Prost was not more consistent he just had better reliability.

There was a lot more said than that, and onboard footage from Prosts car in Japan is never shown.
