Woot woot. I win. And I mixed it up. You look like the biker from The Village people The motorcycle cop was a black dude. Thanks for the give away. Caught me off guard during video. We just got sponsored by Bruiser Baits so I will hook you up when you come visit. And Hand delivery is my preferred method of my Retro Prize. Thanks my friend
That bantam mag plus was my first ever bait caster at age 10 or so. Around 1986/87. Ordered out of bass pro catalog. My dad bought it and put it on top of the refrigerator until I could pay it off. Old school “lay-a-way” if you will. He would let me get it out and look at it but wasn’t able to fish it until I paid him back. Oh the memories. Thank you buddy. P.S. Wouldn’t want to sell that old school gem would ya?
Check the bands on these skirts. When they get old they tend to dry out. And fall apart. Use some thin copper wire to hand tie them so they will stay. .24 gauge from a craft store works.
My old school combo is a Zebco Omega 33 that I got back in 1977 when I was 13. I've got it on a 6' MH pistol grip Shakespeare USA 98% Graphite rod from 1988. All made in the USA. I love taking it out for some retro fishing. I'm 57 and I'm pretty sure this combo is going to outlast me. 🎣😎
My uncle started Hart tackle company in the early 80s in Oklahoma he sold his part pretty early but it's still crazy to occasionally see Hart baits or hear about it from other people.
Maybe you can help me find a lure I’ve been looking for now for close to 3 decades. My uncle bought me a tackle box when I was 5 years old and filled it with random lures from the time period (mid 80’s). I assume most of the lures came from like Sears. Anyway inside was a package of soft plastic frogs. The packaging held about 4 frogs. They were very dense plastic with a single hook that came thru the frog and came up between the legs. No weed guard of any kind. The legs were dual curly tails. The frogs themselves were small, I’d guess 1.5” each. Probably a 1/0 hook in each one. I’d love to get more just for the memories. No clue who made them, maybe Burke? I can’t even find them thru Google, probably could though if I knew the name. Should you have some I’d trade greatly in your favor for some even if it’s just 1. Thanks.
i still have a bantam 250 i got it as a replacement for my first new school level wind haha a bantam 100, silver with wooded handles lost it in a boat accident after a tournament in 1984 loved that reel.
One of my favorite baits of all time was a 6" texas rigged "Mann's jelly worm" grape... like he use to say himself color didn"t matter as long as it was purple !
cool box i love ur tuborg mug.1 cool lure i found is the producers crankbait that crushes bass.its the Starfire z.a water wiperblade. i got 17 bass in 50 minutes in a sm lake corner by a pipe.they were all under mats of grass ..m yb greatest find was a 6 pk for .25 each..the lures im mog sure if the colir but its like a dark green, blue bass pattern with a whitish silver belly
Loved this video as some of those lures were my favorites growing up. You. Mentioned June big and motor oil colors and those were my go to, just picked up four packs of each from an old school basser, also found my stash of terminator spinnerbait so I'm going to reskirt them soon. My question is what will it take to buy a pack of the power bait noodles from you? Lol I havent found them in forever and they were a great finesse bait. Also I'd love to see a retro bassin episode on what I remember being originally called the virgil wiggle worm, then just the worm, and the company that has them today calls them the icon worm. It's a prerigged worm that you can put a clamp on style weight to get to what depth you need and just fish it slow. I've called it an idiot proof lure for years and even took second in a bass fishing tournament a few years ago when I nothing modern I have was working to catch fish. My wife talked me into throwing it with her and she boated the big fish of the day a 5 and a quarter pounder on those light little hooks lol. Would be a great show during spawn as that's been our best luck with them! As always keep it old school, the wife and I look forward to every episode
I will have to research the Virgil Wiggle Worm, good buddy. I know the original Creme Wiggle Worm, now called the Scoundrel, but maybe the Icon is different?
Yes. The worm I'm speaking of has a bend in the mold so the bait makes a big slow circle when reeled slow. Great little old school bait when you cant catch them on anything else in the summer
If you don't mind sending me a Facebook request I'd like to send you a picture of them. My wife and I have finally found a place to find them in all colors, so I would even send you a couple of our favorite colors
I like to hear you reminisce it brings back a lot of good memories and the two hot colors from my childhood were grape and motor oil God I had so many in those colors, now go catch your moose
Wow! That's my kind of unboxing! Loved seeing the old-school Powerbait packaging, the mini spinnerbaits, and terminators. Thanks for the chance at the giveaway too. Would love to see you fish those tornados!
@@RetroBassin Micheal and I fished Norfork a week ago. We caught a few largemouth on crankbaits and Alabama Rigs. It was tough fishing though. Micheal did catch a bass with $100 research tag in it last Sunday during a tournament, so that's pretty cool. I fished for trout on the White River yesterday and caught a few nice brown trout up to 22.5". You been out at all?
I bought two of those shimano bantam mag 250's from bass pro in 1988 and used them for 10 years straight at Clear lake and the California delta here in northern california, great reels !
I love your show today I like those Riverside baits and those tornado spinnerbaits I used to have some of those and I have a question for you do you remember the Ryobi bait casting reels do you have any of those I'm just wondering I like to see them again thanks for the awesome show it bring back a lot of good memories

Ok, that B.A.S.S. variety pack is low-key the coolest item. I remember them sending me some baits like that when I became a member. They sent like a pack of baits and I think a book by Kevin Van Dam.
Another great video Chris! Enjoy them all. By the way, to answer your question, it was Mr. Twister who made the Sensation. Another bait you need to find by them that was killer is the Slither. Amazing bait on a darthead. Keep up the great work!
