An original episode told from the perspective of Ignis. With Altissia in ruins after the Trial of Leviathan, Ignis faces the Niflheim Empire to protect Noctis at all costs. Joining him along the way is Ravus, high commander of the Niflheim Empire, who is determined to rescue his sister Lunafreya.

The fact that Ignis never mentioned the cause of his blindness or the fact that he put on the ring to protect Noct makes it significantly more powerful.

I think it hit me more than Aeris' death. That moment when you reunite with the gang after Noct's exile and he comments on Ignis never getting his vision back. That was such a sad moment. Especially when, for the rest of that chapter, he now fights as good as he ever did in the past.
Well he only sort of partially loses it as he seemed to have cured just by a bit after the timeskip or that could just be him being a badass and doesn't even need eyes to be one

That's one of the few problems I had with the game. For the majority of it I loved the story, but they really needed to show more with Luna. I can't feel sad for someone I don't even know. Now if we got some flashbacks with her and how she acts or her personality then it would have more of an impact. And no, I don't really count the flashbacks we did get because everytime we saw them as kids she just kept talking about being the Oracle and her and Noctis's role. I understand it explains how important they were, but they should have had Regis explaining these things. Not Luna who's a little girl and should really be enjoying what time she has with Noctis. We should of got more of who she truly is. Her likes, fears, and dreams. But that's just my opinion.
Well we all pretty much know this was an unfinished game. The fact they are patching it up with all these DLCs is proof enough.
+lacountess I disagree. I think it is not an "unfinished" or incomplete game. FFXV is just a game with a well-planned marketing strategy which is done by releasing side stories through DLCs or add-ons. The main story was adequately told from the perspective of Noctis. The Episode DLCs were designed, planned, & promoted to give the different character perspectives & stories.

Wouldn't it be pretty short, though? I mean, seeing as they're with Noctis at the end, along with his father, Luna, and so on. With this in mind, I always though that they died protecting Noctis while he did his King stuff, saving the world and what-not.
I like to think they're alive in the end. That it was just their image/spirit/heart/whatever sentimental entity there is that supported Noctis in the realm where he finally fought Ardyn.
It's just that final fight, and i think that's it? It's just about the cutscenes tho, the trio's epilogue.
Herodegon They were confirmed to have survived. However, depending on how they swung it, it could be either a free update or a paid DLC. Either way, I'd all be for it.

Oh my god, everyone theorising that Ardyn directly madeIgnis blind. HOWEVER, Ignis himself using the Ring of the Lucii to save Noctis is something really big.
In fact, I find really surprising, considering what happened to Nyx, that the only price he had to pay was losing his vision.
Well, in that case, It wasn't only to save Lunafreya and the Ring, I think that maybe,they did onlee agreed with Ignis using the ring because it was against Ardyn and it was to save the one chosen by the crystal.
Murilo Antonio I can guess the price of the people loyal to Lucis and the royal family using the ring is determined by the situation. As Nyx uses the ring to fight for the capital at a larger scale, the price he pays was obviously larger, which is his life. I can guess for Ignis, he uses the ring to protect the future king of Light to fulfill the 2000 year prophecy of the gods.
Vanessa Chow Jia Ying But then there's Ravus, who used the ring out of spite, and believed he was more worthy of it's power than the king. But even though it rejected him, he only lost an arm. I agree with you though, I think it has to do with how large of a task/how long the person wields it.
It's an amazing twist in the story from what we all assumed.. it also shows Ignis loyalty to Noctis and that line 'a small sacrifice for the greater cause' just hits home so much harder.
Losing an arm or a leg it's not a big deal. They can fix it with robot arm or robot leg. But you can't fix both eyes. It's kinda big deal you know.

TrueKingOmega That's what I was saying: they showed it in KINGSGLAIVE, but never in the game did they show what happens when non-royalty puts on the Ring. However, the DLC filled in those gaps. Still, had I been Ignis, I woulda been "Okay Calligo, I'll get you the ring and even help you put it on" with an evil grin.

Well because love is overrated. True brotherhood and support values the most. Vor me at least. Luna did her part, but we knew her only from Noct's memories and short flashbacks. Iggy, Gladio and Prompto were there every day.And still, such a sacrifice is more than anything - to give your life to save someone else.
Can we all agree that the voice acting is phenomenal?

And ignis seems to have lost his sight. Nobody is worthy of the ring but the true king. If someone wears it they pay a price, Ignis looses his sight, ravus lost his arm and Nyx lost his life in exchange for a whole night with the ring on.
This kinda reminds me another franchise: The Lord of the rings.

Dilana Karatas to me the way they executed it in the game was kinda dull but when reading her downfall its self it is really sad
We didn't know Luna to give a loose strand of eff, but we knew Iggy, he was there the whole game up until they got separated from Noct, so we will care more there. Luna is only seen through cut scenes and there wasn't any real chemistry shown between her and Noct, not even in the Anime and that movie.

I dunno, I didn't get the impression Luna had any more role than to further the plot and tick the "heroine dies" box. The cut scenes they added since day one actually made her feel even more one-dimensional and naive in her "devotion" to wanting to live her life out with him. I agree though, KG at least made her feel more devoted to helping the human race than just to meet Noct. I mean, they gave the impression she was eager to see Noct again without having to express it in such ridiculous terms. The Luna in KG at least feels consistent as a character... in the game itself, it's like they thought "Gee we better put a scene of her declaring her undying love for him in case people don't understand subtext". I think having the book sending messages was enough to get the impression they might have had a crush on each other and want to rekindle their old friendship into a relationship at some point. Then, after all that, she was wasted. At least Aeris was one of the party for a period of time, so you grew attached to her naturally through the story.

I enjoy revisiting these videos to watch again, since the characters and their story is appealing to me. Ignis' courage and promise to protect Noctis is admirable, while the tragedy with Ravus and his little sister is sad to see. Interesting that some individuals find Ardyn more intriguing (and weirdly attractive to some) despite his sadistic and diabolical comportment to Ignis, Noctis and the world of Eos.

I'm liking the DLCs so far but all of this should've been in the main game. There's so much emotion in these episodes, it adds another level of depth to the supporting characters and really shows their motivation and commitment to protecting their king. Not to mention the gameplay is awesome and the music is great! If the DLC was just part of the main game it would've been a solid 8.5-9

Ignis has always been my favorite character. I was kind of sad they made his come last, but at the same time, they are obviously saving the best for last. This is going to be the best one yet I can already tell.
You know what this game needs above all else? A definitive edition where all the episodes are integrated into the main game to look like a linear and complete story.
I would love that, you cannot progress during the game until each one of those is completed, or come to a point where they activate.

Oh hell, the whole reason I was waiting for all 3 of the companion DLC's to come out was because I wanted to buy them all at once and do a second playthrough of the game with them all integrated!
