I just love that pure look of hatred that Ardyn gives Ignis once he activates the ring. Yet another person has claimed the power that should have been his, yet this one was not of royal blood.

Old comment i know but i just wanted to state this.
Ardyn seemed.. touched by Ignis loyalty. He was about to attack him, but when he heard ignins confession, he stop it and let him continue. Even by the end, when ignis lost his power he just left him alone, when he could have killed him.
Compared with the alternate timeline, where ignis took Ardyn offer. Ardyn toyed with him and was more than willing to kill him.

@@azazel166 That disgusted look came not from him claiming that power but from yet another soul whose belief and loyalty would be rewarded with darkness. He knew the price to wear that ring. That is also why he didn't kill him on the spot it would of been well within his power to do so.

No offense, but all three actually are good. And each, including Ardyn's episode, add more context and character to the game as a whole. I am not saying it is perfect, but this is a lot better than what the game initially started as when it was first released.

Ruin I'm assuming Cor got intel or saw the events firsthand since he was there for Insomnia's fall and that info was then passed onto Ignis who likes to be in the know and up to date on all his info. Makes perfect sense given he's the group's tactician.

Ardyn have the right to be cocky and a jerk. He is bad guy & also an immortal one. Also he is well mannered & smart, unlike Noct. I really glad they made Ignis a main hero of the first half of story in the new timeline, he is awesome char & deserve main spot. Also he is a good adversary to Ardyn.

I love how Ignis and Gladio potray different kinds of characteristic.
Ignis clearly does not want Noct to sacrifices himself and that is why he is the want who wanted to wear the ring and asked Noct if he could stop the journey because he lost too much.
Gladio in the other hand wanted Noct to accept his fate no matter how. He wanted to Noctis to do what he supposed to do and he left Noct with no choice but to be ready and sacrifices himself.

Prompto is just a guy who does not want Noct to be in trouble no matter how....he did not force Noct to do anything....he only wanted to be his friend and suffer easy and hard time together.
I completely disagree. Ignis was the only one aware of Noctis' fate and given the relationship between the four (brothers), they were all ready to give up their lives for eachother. That goes double for the King's shield.
What I enjoyed from Ignis episode is the loyalty and care he has for Noctis, while willing to sacrifice his life so that Noctis could live. Ignis devotion to keeping his promise to Regis and keeping his friend safe (more noted at 9:38 where Ignis tries to talk Noctis to quit his journey) is immensely honorable and makes him a memorable character from the story. The battle with Ardyn is both amusing and a mockery considering he was holding back and did not once use his weapons, but his kicks against Ignis.
Iggy: gets a hookshot, literally becomes batman, chases a god in a boat, allies with a main antagonist, single handedly defeats an army
Me: holy shit I don't think Ignis can become anymore badass

You can only give credit to Ignis as a character. He put his life on the line by using the ring. When he knew about Nyx using it, then he also knew he died for it. He was willing to die for Noctis. But in my opinion, what the Kings of Lucis demanded in exchange was far worse. They took his eyes. They took his strongest asset. When Noctis was short in his sight, Ignis always looked ahead and saw more than the others. The kings tested Ignis and Noctis in the most brutal way, taking the ability from Ignis to support Noctis, while Noctis has to start seeing more than he did before, still being in dire need of the support Ignis provided all the time. It is a good written tragedy. But it gets to you, once you get into it.

Well, he alludes to the reason why in Episode Ardyn. Ardyn isn't as stable an individual as he appears. He's been hyper-traumatized by the loss of Aera and the betrayal of his brother, is constantly hounded by both mental and physical pain caused by the Starscourge and the daemons he absorbed, and his sense of self is fractured at best by the sheer number of memories he has absorbed from other individuals.
He's also very bitter about the fact that the gods see him as no more than a pawn in their grand scheme and doesn't like the thought of submitting himself to his fate without a fight. At the same time, though, he really wants to die and end his suffering, and he genuinely appreciates the fact that Noctis comes to understand what he's going through and approaches him in the end as someone who's come to help him rest rather than the foe destined to vanquish him.
I only have one piece of criticism, when ignis is getting up to put on the ring, he sounds like he's shitting out bricks, I mean too many damn grunts lol.

that might have been an audio error. Something similar happens in the alternate ending where Iggy uses the same groans when you use the ring.
the ring has a lot of power in it that just putting it on causes pain, see noctis putting the ring on in ch 13, so it would seem that just holding the ring can cause pain to

Ardyn wasn't serious when he's fighting against ignis, he's just toying him, i mean come on, ardyn just did a martial arts kicking technique, he's not even using his weapons, royal arms, dark magic and his armiger. it's just my opinion.

Chrisroder Gaming I'm guessing it was likely due to his Oracle blood that he sensed the darkness coming from Ardyn especially since he was utilizing his magic to shapeshift. That or Ardyn has used magic around Ravus before which might explain why he was so quick to listen to him before like when he stopped him from fighting Noctis.
The first 2 DLC were huge disapointement so I had given up for the Ignis Episode. However since I purchased the season pass, I played it anyway and for once, I was not disapointed. Man, this DLC have everything missing from the main game from a story telling point. If the game was as well written and orchastred as this DLC, it could have been one of the best RPG :p
Just hoping for the further DLCs to be as good as this one.

Its not the kings, it's the ring itself. The ring drains the wearer no matter what. Nyx, Ignis, even Noctis all had to pay a price to wear it. It most likely only took Iggy's eyes because he needed to live to save the Chosen King, and he wore it the least amount of time than the others. Nyx had it on for a few hours, Noctis had it on for a day, Ignis had it on for about 5 minutes. Even in the alternate ending, the ring kills Ignis since he wore it for too long. The ring kills all who wear it, not the gods, they're more like the gatekeepers to it's power. They decide if you wear it or not. The ring then becomes yours at a price if chosen

If a glaive uses the ring they be part of the bloodline but dies in the process I don't know why
Anybody that puts on the ring must be willing to sacrifice themselves as payment. Only those of royal blood can handle the ring’s power and not die from it, but even then Noctis had to give his life to fully purge ardyn.
Ignis isn’t of royal blood so he had to show the Lucian Kings that he was willing to die to save noctis

Ai Mi first playthrough you have to. After that a second option is unlocked. And you can play along and fight ardyn but with a better ending

The only problem i had with the DLC is this boss theme is too upbeat and postitive.. i want a darker one like Ravus's boss fight cause in this situation Iggy sacrificed his eyes and risked his life to fight Ardyn who wouldn't even use his full force so its a losing situation not a winning one.
I love how the ring buffs Ignis to ultra instinct state here and only gives Noctis 3 effective but SOOOOOO BOOOOORING spells.
Alterna, Holy and Death are pretty powerful spells lorewise.
What a pity. The XV chapter could've been magnificent, e instead it hasn't been developed in any aspect.

If they do decide to show how he knows I doubt it'll be anything bigger than a patch that adds in some dialogue or a short scene between him and Cor. Either way being that he's the group's tactician it makes perfect sense that he'd gather as much info about the enemy as possible including what happened in Insomnia. Note how he never mentioned Nyx's name either or who he fought. He just knew a random Glaive used the power and that's it.
