I think my entire generation knows/knew all the lyrics and never came in at the wrong time. This song is like a tattoo on my soul. Such an iconic song by an iconic band. I love Queen. Thank you for your reactions.
When Brian May and Roger Taylor were once asked what the song was about Roger famously said “Even Freddie had no idea what it was about and he wrote the fucking thing”
Funny thing is people who say they never heard Queen... have heard Queen. Love to see their reactions when they realize they sang we are the champions and we will rock you
I grew up listening to Queen. There are so many songs. I hope you enjoy them. Freddie was the best rock singer, performer, and frontiman ever. May he rest in peace. 5th of Sept 1946 to 24th of Nov 1991.
Queens audiences always sang along with Freddie. You must react to Live Aid, and you will see what I mean. Their audience participation is unheard of. When Freddie died they were doing a Queen Trubute and the audience sang Bohemian Rapsody acapella.
The a cappella opening is only Freddie multitracking each harmony. The operatic section are three voices recording 180 overdubs to achieve the effect of a chorus. Four instruments, three voices and a gong! In 1975, driving my first car with this song blaring regularly on the radio? You bet I know all the lyrics! Cheers! Next up....."Somebody to Love" Montreal 1981.
The producer did not want to release it. He thought it was too bizarre, but it found its way into being known about and is one of the most complex songs out there
It was the record company not the producer, the producer had no say in what was and was not released. The main reason the record company was reluctant to release Bo Rap as a single was due to it being nearly 6 minutes long. Most singles at the time lasted about 3 minutes and EMI dicn't think the UK radio stations would play it. But Queen said you either release it or nothing at all, and they won.
I loved this song when it came out. It was on my record player 24/7. It even grew on me with the years. I can’t think of a song, that did that for me in that capacity.
Sometimes it's hard to grasp anyone NOT knowing this song. It's that iconic. Extremely happy you found it, don't get me wrong. It's just that the music we listened to has been with us for so long that we take it for granted that everyone must have heard it by now. Next up needs to be Somebody To Love, Under Pressure (w/ David Bowie), Fat Bottomed Girls, and Crazy Little Thing Called Love. Many huge hits but that will get you started
Freddie wanted to sing opera. Other big rock bands were doing rock operas. Freddie put together a song that condensed a few acts of a play/opera into a shorter format than a full album (how other bands were doing their rock operas) with some in-your-face melodrama. That's Bohemian Rhapsody.
@@RoverWaters do an internet search for Bohemian Rhapsody mini opera and see what the consensus opinion is. I understand Album Rock Operas, but I'm hardly alone in seeing BR as a condensed one.
THE TITLE OF THIS IS JUST CLICKBAIT, THE GIRL REACTOR LITERALLY KNOWS THE SONG. I'm actually convinced that people who haven't heard this song have lived under a rock for a long time. Bohemian Rhapsody is literally the only 70s to 80s song that remains in the Top 20+ place on Spotify's most-streamed song of all time, along with other 2000's artists.

This is practically the unofficial national anthem of England! Everyone knows the words and the entire crowd will frequently sing it together at concerts for other bands while waiting for the show to begin. (Check out the crowd singing it at a Green Day concert). Song came out in 1976; this was the first time any group produced a music video made and every band that came after them adopted the practice. MTV (which later actually banned some Queen songs) owes its existence to Queen and Bohemian Rhapsody!
My school played this at the Halloween party last week (gr9s to 12s, I'm in gr9,) and most people knew the lyrics and me and another girl sang the entire thing, (even the guitar solo, LOL) I love queen sm and I'm so happy people my age know their music. Rip freddie we love you sm
Of course we know the lyrics....that Green Day video of the crowd in Britain is awesome. You should react to that. Excellent lyrics and Freddy voice? It is fire.
This song came off an album called "A Night At The Opera" in 1975. Every single tune on this record is different. There's a song on it called "The Prophet's Song" that has even more opera style to it. "You're My Best Friend" was their other hit off this album. "Somebody To Love" from Montreal in 1981 should be your next song. I actually saw this 1981 tour in Vancouver, What a Show. Freddy Mercury for many is the ultimate best front man /showman in rock history. 33 years and counting since he left us but the memories are there for all to enjoy.

"Bohemian Rhapsody" is Freddie Mercury's personal story about his struggles to come to grips that he was a gay man. He considered suicide (the first part of the song with the gun), then he had voices in his head going back and forth (all the talking heads), & then the song ends with the resolution that he just needs to be himself and don't be ashamed. This was released in 1975. This was a brave song to write for that time period. Good on him.
