- Here's a fun one. Bored and needing to make some content I thought I'd throw together some real world thoughts on my 190,000 mile tuned Audi A6 Biturbo.
Some more context, I've known this car for 10 years. It's on it's original DPF, never had the injector seals replaced, it's been tuned to perfection and done 100,000 miles trouble free since and I do 500 miles a week in it...Some motor!
Amazing car this was, only sold it because I no longer needed it.
A much easier way to fix the hesitation/lag in these gearboxes is a pedal box.
An engine remap, along with a gearbox tune and a pedal box, will massively transform the performance.
I have a stage 1 remap and gearbox tune done on my current A5 3.0 TDI quattro (B8.5), and although the increase in power was noticeable, the hesitation from the gearbox was still there.
However, when I chucked a pedal box into the mixture, holly crap did that make a difference 😳
Now, I have virtually no lag as the throttle response is instant with power sitting comfortably at 300bhp. An absolute rocketship.
Good review with honesty from an actual owner.
Happy owner for the last 2 years and absolutely loving mine. 2014 a6 with 115k and still not staged. Not sure what group you're on about, but uk bitdi is majority praises with really proud owners :) Thanks for a great video. It made me appreciate my car even more :)
The BiTdi groups decent to be fair. The general 3.0 groups are heavily American and Canadian based, and if you read them you'd run a mile. 😂 Yep, amazing cars all round and anyone should be proud to have one.
@NorthEastTuning thanks :) Can you tell me what sort of figures u get with your maps on these? Mpg? Thanks
Ah that makes sense as they get the ones built in Brasil or Mexico. Even the UK main VW dealers imported VW Golf mk5 cars from Mexico back in 2008. Those were built differently than the German ones, much lower quality and more issues so better avoid them.
Best car , I drive one with 550hp for over 4 year . And mpg over 50 easy
it is a superb car and safe to drive, I own an a6 c7 allroad 313hp
2013 A6BiTDI owner here from Slovakia :D still stock car :D but Im thinking about tune :D I can say I agree with the video 100%. Unfortunately, gearbox jerks from 3 to 2 :D but not all the time :D done 266 000km and just small stuff replaced :D but I love the car. When going on longer trips and listening to audio book(Boose speakers are amazing, like having a concert in car) im driving not agresive :D Im doing 6,2l/100km(46mpg) :D But when listening to music, I can jump to 9,5l/100km(27MPG) :D We have 2024 Q5 in family and the quallity of interior in that is mutch worse :D
Tak som rad že nie som jediný čo zaživa to cuknutie z 3 do 2 😂😂
All said is true amazing car !
Owned one since March and exactly this. Mine needs a tune
Been looking at these this week and along comes the video! Ready for the big risk...interesting about the mileage thing as i was loooking the opposite..
That was the idea behind the video to be fair!
To shown people they've got no reason to be afraid. This car doesn't exactly get babied around, and I have known the previous owner of ten years since he bought it. Just a good solid car.
Go get one!
@shaunconnelly8238 ua-cam.com/video/xjQROS-gChM/v-deo.html this was one of vids that totally sold me to mine. Like it was said above - get one :)
I have a A7 C7 BiTdi 313bhp 12 plate. It's a superb car
I'm currently in a facelift A6 Allroad BiTdi which a previous owner unfortunately had the emissions recall done to it and the gearbox absolutely needs tuned, it's my 1st auto and it drives me insane at times. I had been holding off on a tune as i was planning on doing some hardware upgrades first but as time goes by i'm starting to think a simple stage 1 will be plenty. I also have a 500hp 2.7t which i never drive to it's potential so it seems silly buying this as a daily driver to then chase power that i'll never use. But yes, the gearbox absolutely needs dealt with! Othar than that it's a huge step up in terms or tech and comfort compared to previous generations of Audi, and dare I say it a better option compared to the current line up cars full of hard to navigate touch screens. The nav in the facelift model so far has proven pretty useful, the nav display in the instrument cluster is a really nice touch.
I do love an Allroad, such a cool package.
The gearbox seems to be a common theme, nothing, nothing nothing, BAM all the power. 😭
These are a great balance between old school buttons and analogue feel, with modern reliability and tech.
I have the same car, and 100% recommend getting the emissions update rolled back!
@@NorthEastTuning I think the gearbox is the biggest frustration for me. Just the lag when you try and nip out of a junction quickly 😬
Are there any other cars across the VAG platform that you would recommend around the 10k price point? Performance/reliability wise and ULEZ compliant? Love the idea of the A6 Biturbo but just a bit too big for my needs!
Darkside developments have a lot of video on these engines and what goes wrong needs upgraded etc
To me, they are real good looking. Almost bought one but too much car for me. I am a LOT shorter than you. :)
Have you had it since new?
I’d love to know how these compare to an A8 4.2 TDI
'Sounds a little bit poncey' 🤣
I have 2017 A6 competition stage 1. 4 years without problems. I hate only high DPF differential pressure. We dont know what is reason for this.
@utajnsek mines starting to get to the point where the DPF pressure pipes are getting built up with soot, and it regenerates more frequently than it needs to for sure.
I'm going to do a video on removing these and replacing them next week, could be a good one for you.
@NorthEastTuning yes, it would be good for me. Thank you. We already removed and cleaned DPF professionally but DPF differential pressure is still too high. About 850 hPa before regeneration and about 500 hPa after regeneration. I check it with app VAG DPF.
@@NorthEastTuning maybe you did video?
