Hi Lucy, I have a very similar car to yours, just to share a word of warning that I was given by my Porsche specialist. Be very careful when running the car low on fuel, the petrol tank is obviously in the front but because on the C4 there is a also a diff in the front the tank is split so once you get to around a quarter of a tank of fuel you are relying on the computer to work out how much you have left, so there is a real danger of running out on the C4. Since finding this out I try to always fill up at quarter fo a tank. They are awsome cars, I have had mine for a couple of years now and absolutely love it.
Keep on revving it, they thrive on high revs, you’re driving a car from one of the only car manufacturers that actively promotes using them on a track. These cars must be driven in order to get the best from them, don’t be afraid of putting on miles and using it every day, I did 20k last year in mine.
Top Tip: anytime you're changing your wiper blades make sure that you have a cloth handy and always lower the wiper arm when you're not actually holding it (the wiper arm). Lowering the wipe arm onto the cloth so it doesn't scratch/nick the screen between each step in the process. I've not damaged a screen before but know of someone who has and it was during the change of blades and the arm had come down onto the screen...
I want a 911 with a Lucy inside! Joking aside, I’m enjoying the real world take on this ownership journey. Clearly you are still in the honeymoon period, so I’m pleased you are enjoying it.
The main thing I love about 911s is how frugal they are and how precise they all are. No matter what your budget is you can't go wrong picking any of the models!!
Every Porsche owner that I know has gotten cheesed off at the servicing and repair costs that go on and on and on and never stop nor seem to ease up. On top of the road tax, insurance, depreciation, fuel costs. Frugal? They're not even close to BMW 335D levels of frugality. Never mind something like a Toyota Yaris 1.4D
Congratulations! I want a 911 so badly, but I don't have room and am already all wrapped up in my own older car (a 2005 MINI). Thanks for sharing and enjoy!
I had a 911 C4S, it was a great car. The only negative was that I felt it needed more power. Not so much needed, just could handle loads more power. I never did get around to a GT3, ended up with a Renault Espace, too many kids 😢. Have fun.
I always thought the C4S looked great but Porsche should have sold it with extra power as standard to compensate for the added weight. I had a mildly modified Gen 1 996 GT3 CS (complete with a roll cage) for more than 10 years and was by far the best car I've owned.
Out of all the porsches we have owned or currently own I really really regret giving up my manual 996.2 C4S Cab. I honestly think it was more fun to drive then my current 911 Turbo.
Great to see how genuinely excited you are about the car. It is a lovely piece of superb engineering and I love that it is a manual. I wouldn't choose any other than that, only manual gives you the full "old school" driving experience in my opinion.
Hi Lucy, I like the way you’re not afraid to say slightly crazy things, for fear we won’t understand what you mean. 😢 we do understand what you mean, so you carry on.
Note, the passenger wiper blade is unique to that car, it curves upwards in order to catch the full screen, I think others don’t curve so may not wipe the screen correctly.
Glad you're enjoying the 911! They're lovely cars. As you say, it's a sports car you just jump in and drive without worrying. I think you've got a good one there!
Love this car. Well done. Very similar to my old manual 996.1 C2. Best upgrade you can do for these cars is go to Center Gravity and get their 996 C4 suspension kit. Amazing and soooooo much better ride quality on our UK roads which is what they designed it for. Better than any other setup, I know as I tried them all first! Plus they geo to your style. Optimally get them to fit good fresh Michelin tyres to suit your style too. Definitely add to your wish list, you can’t beat a properly riding early 996, for balance & feel. Beats the 12mpg of the Ferrari...Still, you don't run a 442bhp 5.5 litre V12 as an economy car! Cheers from a miserable and cold Otford, Kent, Uk.
I owned a 987 2.7ltr for ten years and loved it. I replaced every suspension component including the shocks (Bilstein PS9 coilovers), and it handled like a dream.
20 or so years ago I was lucky enough to own a 1986 3.2 Carrera and I drove it every day for the few years that I owned it, after many nice cars between then and now it's still my favourite car and the one I most regret selling, enjoy the Porky and drive the wheels off it.
I got the Bosch original wipers for my C4 996, but they weren't doing a great job cleaning the screen. So, I switched to the genuine Porsche wipers, and they are so much better! I see you already have them installed, and it's definitely worth the extra money because they last longer and clean the screen much more effectively.
@@LucyOnCars No problem. LOVE your new 996. Elegant and clean. I wouldn't do much to it as it's gorgeous as is. I just discovered your channel. My new fave for Jones'in on 996 Porsches.

Needs the mini and black tights from previous episodes.
Trainers were a disappointment.
You pervert😂
Hi Lucy, nice car♥
Seventh six quid for a full tank?. Day light robbery!. Days when those were just 20 quid...
If nothing major brakes you can estimate 200 pounds a month to keep it going for like 3 years!
Oh, are you supposed to change toilet seats when you move house. Why did no-one tell me this? Great to see you enjoying the car.
@@DavidTYork lol i use a special chemical called bleach but keep it to yourself it’s a secret
New wipers defo look alot cleaner and your Porsche sounds and looks💦👌
Not a fan of the new wipers. They look horsey and dopey compared to the original Bosch style wipers which are sleek and era correct for your 996.
Thanks for the opinion! I still can’t decide if I should get the others…
Great video, I challenge you not to say like in the next one
Be careful those are the ones that have head gasket failure worse than a rover..
Always look on the bright side of life 🎶
Complete nonsense comment
996 have many engine issues but head gasket is not one of them
Sort of comment you’d expect if you owned a Peugeot or Vauxhall in the 90’s
Lol not true
She's keeping how much she paid for this Porsche to herself.
The price of a car is one of the most important things about it.
Rain-x your windows and save in the wipers....
Good to hear your still having a lot of fun with that wonderful car. It's very true what you say about not be aware of a cars firm ride when your driving but it being more noticeable as a passenger. I had a Gen 1 996 GT3 for many years and my girlfriend at the time hated it due to the very firm ride. She said she felt like she needed a sports bra when going out in it but strangely when I let her drive it she actually quite enjoyed it.
I’m in my mid-70’s. Been a gear-head (petrol-head) since I was a kid. You are the very first person I have heard that is concerned about the “LOOKS” of a windshield wiper! Seriously? You need help, Lucy….
Don't know if this occurred to anyone listening to her at the gas pump. She could have looked in the owner's manual or googled the size of the Gas tank and multiplied that by the cost of fuel at whatever station she was at and had her answer. One of the values of education, is to save time.
I think every aspect of a car needs to look good. Functionality comes first but it all needs to work together 😊👍
nice to see you got rid of the range rover ? and bought a proper car that should keep running
Currently have both 😅
German engineering, no one need it but it makes fun !
Yea
That fuel brunch burger looked great!!!!
It was!
Nice video
👍
Porsche windscreen wipers are specially made for the specific rake of the 911 windscreen , always get from a Porsche dealer
You can’t compare a Porsche to a Lamborghini 😂
Do you love your car?
They definitely want to be driven hard😊
